I just had a McDonalds M&M McFlurry for dessert after dinner O_O Because my

mom and I actually didn't fight for a week (it's a record!) So we decided to get

ice cream at McDonalds. And I wanted to try something new, so I asked for a

McFlurry. Stupid request. I though it would be only like 400 calories top. But um,

it's actually 618! And it was a small too. And it's 9:14 right now. I have NO idea

how to burn some of it. OMG. And so I'm abit over 2,000 calories. I was doing

so well these past 2 weeks. Omg help help!

can you go for a brisk walk? i did that last night because i was not happy with my deficit. burned an exta 100 cals in about 30 min

The best thing to do is just relax!!  And enjoy the nice reward you got for not fighting with mom!!  It's just one day after all.  Being healthy is a long term thing!!  So enjoy!! Cool

You will be fine. But I feel your pain. My parents have had a gallon of ice cream sitting in the fridge from my bros birthday party and I am sad to admit that I have helped to finish it. Everyday I have dug a spoon into that stuff and it makes me so mad that I cannot seem to resist it when I have never had a problem resisting it before. It's almost gone tho haha

vmcbutterfly: Yeah but you only ate like one spoon everyday! If I had a tub of

ice cream, it would probably last two days because I myself would of eaten it

all.

Unfortunately, I can't go on a walk right now. It's all dark outside. :(

Look on the bright side? It has good protein, high calcium and not a ton of sodium.

On a serious note, maybe you went a bit over today. But to gain a pound you would have to eat about 6 of them over your burn. I think you're going to be okay on this one. Just don't do it very often.

Well, I did learn from this experience. Never try something new without reading

the label before. x(

Walk in the house! Or put on some music and dance like a crazy person. I swear by the second one. It's how I lost my first 25 pounds :D

even if you don't find a way to burn it off, you're just a bit over 2000. that's not bad at all since you're a teenager. also you say you've been doing really well these past two weeks, so one "bad" day will not completely throw it off. if anything it might give your metabolism a little boost. just go back to your normal eating and consider it a nice treat.

I say forget it for tonight. It's late, and you went only a few calories over your maintenance. You can exercise extra tomorrow morning to make up for it. That's how naturally thin people do it-- they eat extra some days and eat less other days. You're gonna be just fine. ^_^

Was it yummy, Strawberry? Congrats on not fighting with your mom, that's wonderful. You completely deserved the treat, don't feel bad.

I agree this is great exercise - well I don't exactly put on music and dance like a crazy person. I just jump around and act like a crazy person with my kids who have boundless energy and it has contributed to my weight loss.

As for the McFlurry, don't worry about it, its all good. You need a treat once in a while, just don't make a habit of it. It is a mere blip and will not affect anything in the long run. Try not make dieting all work and no play - as they say it makes Jack a dull boy (poor Jack Tongue out).

I feel like a McFlurry now - had some of my daughters last weekend, it was quite nice.

Don't worry about it tonight.  Try to do some extra exercise tomorrow.  It's not like your body won't burn tomorrow what you ate today.  And it certainly won't automatically turn any "extra" calories into fat just because you went to bed.  That'll only happen if you always overeat and never exercise.

oh my god, i love mcflurrys! whenever i go to mcdonalds, more's the f***ing pity, i always have one after some ridiculous bloody big mac or something. last time i had one, i was in camden about to do some filming, and i had this like half-price mcdonalds voucher, so i went in and ordered a big mac, small fries, a small chocolate milkshake and a crunchie-flavoured mcflurry. topped off with all the other s**te i ate that day, fortunately, i didnt put on any weight, even though one mcflurry, if your 618 calorie counting is right, is like most of my entire days allowance on a normal day! lol. enjoy it though, as long as you only have one every so often then it wont do anything. it's not like your doing that supersize me programme. i dunno if you've ever seen it, but he eats like a mcdonalds two or three times a day, and everytime he's hungry, and he's so fat at the end of it we could've sent him to africa, in a particularly cannibilistic place, and helped solve world hunger for f***ing centuries! xx.

I feel your pain . . . I was at the gas station and saw Ben and Jerry's half baked ice cream, it's 96 degrees outside and well lets just say the ice cream won that battle. Although one serving size is okay I ended up only stopping half-way through. I feel it is okay every so often. My husband and I do ice cream once a week, so this week I will probably cheat twice. How about salad for dinner, and a few extra minutes on the elliptical :)

You have to satisfy your sweet tooth some how, the more I battle mine the worse it gets!Innocent

MMM i had the same situation yesterday but it was the oreo mcflurry for me. i ate it so fast on the way home. I'm not gonna beat myself up cuz i was still around 1600 cals for the day. just didn't fill me up and i ended up craving sweets later that night. I like the sugar free fudgesicles (only 40 cals) they satisfy chocolate craving and sorta like ice cream so you should try them theyre good

This is so funny because on Sunday night I was driving home and past a mcdonald's and my car just pulled in and ordered 2 small McFlurries. Really, it did, I drive a bug so you know those cars are alive, remember Herbie?

But seriously, my hubby and I love those things and I'm not even supposed to be eating dairy!!!  Here was my rationale, "we all know that there's not really much real milk in those things, it's all chemicals, right, so it'll be ok"  This is actually what I was thinking in the drive thru.  At least your reasoning was much better than mine, not arguing with your mom is a great accomplishment and I'm glad you guys took the time to celebrate!

Listen to Duke and enjoy your treat and move on!  Congrats!

I was waiting around at a Caribou coffe shop one night while I was waiting for someone.  They have these new candy bar coolers.  One is Snickers the others is Ande's Candy.  I didn't have much to eat that day and I estimated roughly 600 calories.  The Turtle Mocha is kind of the same thing I thought, plus you know, the coolers start out as a large cup of ice.  So I was ok with it that one time.  I looked it up later - they are almost 900 calories.  I went over my daily allowance by a couple hundred calories.  You just have to move on.  Add some extra time to your walks or whatever you do for exercise.  You'll be fine.

Honestly, if you're freaking out over having a McFlurry, you need to get off of this site and stop counting calories. Your a teen for God's sake - you need to fuel your body. You should probably be eating over 2000 anyways.

I didn't like your comment. Mainly because I've been a binger for a while. And

being binge-free for 2 weeks is really a great accomplishment for me. I knew I

was supposed to enjoy the dessert, but I only freaked out because I thought it

would cause me to start my binge problem again. I use this site to help me

stop my binging problem, to help me get to a healthy weight, and to get to

know more people who are on the road of becoming happier and healthier. I

greatly appreciate you telling me that I should be getting 2000 calories

because I am a teen. But you don't know how often that would lead to a

15,000+ calorie binges. Thank you for your concern.

I agree with you, strawberry-dolly, that comment was not appropriate.  The fact of the matter is, McFlurries ARE unhealthy, no matter what age you are.  Just because you may be young and have a high metabolism does not mean it's a good habit to get into indulging in something so packed with calories, fat, and saturated fat.  Sure, it's fine as a treat every now and then, but being young is no excuse.  You may very well need over 2000 calories to function, but they should typically be 2000 HEALTHY calories, not calories of junk (though there's always room for junk in moderation.)  I say, more power to you for trying to form healthy habits early in life and recognize potential slip-ups.  It is the very "I'm young, therefore immune to weight gain" mentality that causes us to be caught off-guard when we're thirty-five and fat.  Good job for trying to be healthy, and I'm sure you'll make the right choice next time.  Until then, just get some extra exercise, eat right, and forgive yourself.  :)
