Just had to share because I've been a bit frustrated lately because after losing 50 lbs, I've now plateaued the last 4 weeks after starting a cardio/weight training program (yes I know all the reasons, water retention, muscle gain, etc - still frustrating though!)

Any way, sometimes it takes an OMG moment to make yourself feel better and very proud of your accomplishments to date.

Mine was last night - I was a pretty big girl (up top too) and therefore used to never be able to actually wrap myself in a towel, tuck it in and walk around, therefore I rarely ever tried. Well last night I needed to walk out of the bathroom, so I wrapped the towel around me real quick. Not only did it fit around me, it overlapped a full 6 inches!!! I literally said OMG and my eyes teared up, I was so excited. My husband just kind of laughed at me, and said didn't you realize how much smaller you are now? Well, no not really. It was really a reality check.

So, anyone else have any OMG moments they'd like to share?

small omg moment but it still made me feel really good.

In late january classes were starting again and when I sat down in one of the desks my stomach would be pressed against the desk table and go over it. it made me feel really embarrassed. Now in March when I sat down in the desk i noticed my stomach wasn't even touching the desk anymore. I looked at the desk too see if it was a bigger one or the same regular one and it was the same old desk! I started exercising and watching what I eat since January and I didn't really think I looked like any of it was working. So this was really nice to see some results besides numbers on a scale :) Oh and my jeans are feeling looser now~ :)

My OMG moment yesterday was that I fit into a 13 at SmartSet (used to have to SQUEEZE into a 15 there), and, to top it all off, fit into not just a 12 at reitmans, but a 12 PETITE... COMFORTABLY!  Whee!  I can't remember the last time I was a size 12.

I have been keeping my old jeans for the last 5 years or so. Because I gained weight really fast and my jeans became way too small for me all of them were quite new. And I kept saying 'I am gonna wear them again when I lose weight'. Last week I tried them on again, after 10 weeks diet and lots of cardio, OMG now they are too big for me. Even with a belt it is impossible to keep them on me (belt is also too big now, I need to drill a new hole). It was a weird feeling, being happy for losing that much weight and sad as well for unable to wear my jeans.

gah!  I hear ya - I have 2 pairs of trouser leg jeans that I absoltely can not wear any more, and they were my faves.  One has no belt loops, and fall down as I walk, the other has belt loops, but looks like a sack cinched around my waist because they're so baggy.  They're also too long now that my butt is smaller :(

Despite feeling pretty miserable about myself this past week, I must admit to having an OMG moment myself.  Not a big one, but one nonetheless.

It was a few days ago, and I was looking for something really nice to wear on a date.  So, I looked through my usual tops and decided none of them were nice enough.  Then, I came across my collection of nice/fancy tops that I'd bought in the last 5 to 6 months.  I thought, oh, yeah, these look really nice, I'll wear one of them.  So, I picked out my favourite, a semi-clingy top with flared sleeves.  But when I put it on and looked in the mirror, it was horrible but wonderful at the same time.  It was baggy and hanging off of me.  It wouldn't stay on my shoulders well at all.  So I tried on my other tops and, lo and behold, none of them fit properly at all.  I eventually foudn something to wear, but omg...  I had to donate all the tops to charity and have had to go out and buy a whole new wardrobe, 2 sizes smaller than before.  And I've only lost 22lbs since starting my diet.  Woohoo!!!

Mine is just a small one, but it still makes me happy. When I look in the mirror I can see my belly button again! :D

I took some pictures of myself today.

And for the first time, I didn't hate the pictures, because I didn't cringe at my double-chin.

After losing 30 lbs, it wasn't there anymore.

It was pretty amazing =)

Whel the first week I lost 3 pounds, the second 2 pounds and on the 3rd week I lost 1 pound, I felt so depressed because I thought I was keep the rythm but I guess 1 Pound per week is not that bad :)

I love this post - it is so nice to hear positive things to keep motivated!

I have lost 18.6 pounds (come on 20) and have 9 more to go.  My OMG moment was getting a bag of clothes from my sister-in-law that we were too small on me - ranging from sizes 4 - 10, so a few weeks ago i thought I would go through and see if I could add a few of the larger ones to my closet, and I could fit in all of them except the 4's.  I haven't done that since high school almost 20 years ago!  WOO HOO!!!Laughing

After a fifty pound weight loss (I am 5'2"), I was walking down a hall and a co-sorker yelled at me to stop and turn around. She wanted to see if I had lost as much in front as I had in the back.

I was sooooo happy I hugged her!

Congratulations!!  That is a major OMG Moment.  I had an OMG moment too..... I weighed myself sunday morning and the scale was up 2lbs!!  I was determined not to let it frustrate me.  This morning, as I looked in the mirror, I could see an obvious drop in tummy fat.  I am so thankful for.  This means more to me than loosing pounds.  I feel healthier and have so much more energy.  YAY!!

I had one last week very similar to yours.  I always used a beach towel after my shower because it was the only one big enough to wrap around me!  I have lost 58 pounds and last weekend my wife and I were at a hotel and after my shower, I grabbed one of the hotel bath towels and wrapped it around me without thinking.  I walked out of the bathroom and saw myself in the mirror and it hit me, "I have a bath towel wrapped around me with towel left over!"  I shared it with my wife and we both jumped up and down laughing!  It was my OMG moment

Congrats on the towel wrap!!!  It is such a great feeling just to be able to wrap a bath towel completely around you........and actually it is the small things that make it all worthwhile.  Every day and every pound is another milestone...I think the surprise milestones are best........you don't think you've done so well with the weightloss and then you wrap the towel, or cross your legs, or pull out those jeans you haven't seen in ages and they FIT!!!  Little things mean a lot and sometimes that is all it takes to keep your motivation fueled!

I wore a size 8 skirt to work yesterday.

I have never in my adult life, worn a size 8. Never.

This is my third OMG moment post on this thread and each time it makes me very happy. (The first time I mentioned that I'd lost 48 pounds, now I'm up to 61.)

Recently the OMGs have been as I try to wrap my mind around the fact that I weigh less than I have in 20 years and that I'm not fat anymore. I'm not. I still think I am. I still have moments where I go "I can't squeeze through there, it's too narrow, I'm going to stick my butt in that person's face because the aisle's so small," and then I squeeze through and realize that I have space to spare and no one had to get up close and personal with my butt.

Speaking of my butt: I have those cute dimples on my back, just above my butt. I couldn't tell you the last time I saw those. I squeed a little in delight when I saw them two days ago. I think that thrilled me more than the size 8 skirt and jeans I bought on Saturday.

Also I don't snore anymore! I travel four or five times a year and share hotel rooms with friends wherever I go. My friends have always been very tolerant, but oh geez did I snore terribly 61 pounds ago. Now I don't snore and that makes me so happy because I have always felt embarrassed and bad about disrupting other people's sleep with something I couldn't stop.

I was walking the dog the other night and had taken along my new Canon Digital.

I was joking around with a couple of local policemen and they asked to look at the camera and took my photo.

When I got home I put it on the computer and had a look.... now that was an OMG moment!

Congrats!  You should be very proud of yourself.  My omg moment came when I could easily walk between cars in a parking lot without getting salt from the cars on me.  I also used go to the grocery store and pick up a pound of butter for every pound that I lost. Well, I am at 60lbs now (40 to go) and can't pick it up without looking like an idiot so I just smile when I walk past.  I almost always put the bag of cookies back that I had snuck into the cart.  Keep up the great work!  it will come

My OMG moment was when I look at old pictures. I look so much better & I FEEL so much healthier now. I'm out of the double digit sizes!! And it does feel wondeful to buy smaller, better fitting clothes.

Congratulations!

Congrats!  Isn't it wonderful!  I started my journey at 437lbs and as of today I am 235lbs.  I have had a few OMG moments to date and it's great how they sneak up on you.  Some of my moments are as small as crossing my legs, the car seatbelt going in without me lifting my body, fitting into a diner booth and a movie theatre seat, being able to ride the rollar coaster and wearing zip up blue jeans!!  But my best moment had to be last weekend.  I went hiking and decided to try to do 6 miles.  I was shocked when I was finished, looked at my pedometer and it said 12.5 miles!!! OMG, there was a day I couldn't walk the mall Innocent.

WOW!  200 lbs - that is so awesome!

I love seeing this thread I started (under my old ID) revived every couple of weeks -  I am glad it has been motivating for so many, and a HUGE CONGRATS to everyone who has posted their successes.
