Once I stop, it's hard to start again!
If I exercise often (5-6 days a week) I have no problem keeping up with my exercises. I see awesome results and I just feel so good! But when I take days off I feel worse, look worse, and yeah it's not fun =( yet I find it hard to get myself started on it again.
I have just had to take a few days off from my exercise programs because my work schedule got a little crazy. Someone has had to miss work so I've been working long shifts to make up for them and haven't had time to get my workouts in! Seriously, I wake up, eat, go to work, come home, make time to eat even though it's past bed time, then go to sleep. Granted I have an active job where I'm on my feet all day and walking at a brisk pace, sometimes carrying heavy objects and cleaning, but I miss my exercise =(
Even though I miss it I'm having a hard time starting again! haha..yeah that was pretty much just a long story =P
Anyone else the same? What motivates you to get up again?
You're not alone! What motivates me is that I have to do it. I'm on a team, and I can't skip out on practice just because I don't feel like it; I have to go every single day, except weekends. Try joining some kind of recreational team, getting involved with a class, or something else that would make you feel bad about skipping. Sometimes, paying a lot of money for a class makes you really want to go—get your money's worth! Haha. Hope I helped.
xoxoxo Okie
I've had the same problem, school just started and i had planned to have exercise in my daily schedule, but of course my schedules never end up as i plan an i just have no desire to start again. And even if i do, it is late at night and i am tired and can't do much. It is hard, but always tell yourself "if you don't do it this time, you'll always make an excuse." That is how I get back in motion.
Ack, I hate that part. I stop and start all the time... I just either get lazy or if I dont feel good I stop... and then never start. This time Im just going to talk to myself. And its working. I tell myself why Im doing it... and saying "its not that hard, you can do it"... try encouraging yourself with words. Even if you sound funny talking to yourself lol... it helps me.
Tomorrow morning I will get up and exercise and I'm going to hold myself to it!
I had that problem this week, but I spent half of it moving to a new apartment and unpacking, so part of it was being unmotivated and part of it was not having time. I've resolved to starting back up today, though, because I really need to get back into it.
The way I get myself motivated is to make sure I have something fun to do during it - watch a show on my ipod, listen to some of my favorite music while I'm working out, or tell myself I won't play a game until after I get back from the gym. That or be prepared to give yourself a little reward, like a piece of chocolate or something, that you can't have until you get back.
If all else fails, just try to remind yourself how good it feels when you finish working out. If I'm feeling really unmotivated, that's what I do, and 95% of the time it gets me out of the apartment and to the gym.
I am with you all here..what makes it worse for me is when I don't exercise I eat worse also..and more! I become more and more lazy and then I feel like crap... I know that this is going to sound absolutely crazy but I actually feel like I can feel the fat growing back on my thighs! I have been in a HUGE slump and I have vowed that tomorrow I am going to the gym no excuses..BTW yesterday I burned my hand badly on the stove so today's excuse was I can't lift weights to day so I can't go....obviously I could have gone and just ran or done the elliptical but it was easier to wallow in self pity and stay home.Tomorrow is a new day..good luck to everyone!
Its such a mind game. I am so afraid of that sluggish feeling that I haven't stopped for 4 years! I get a couple day breaks here and there...but I often hunger for a good workout beyond that. It provides such a good balance once you....balance it:) hehe
ps. I agree, you have got to find what you love...so that you look forward to it. I have gone through many seasons of different likes. I am always looking for something active that I can enjoy. And thankfully, I have not gotten bored yet.
Good luck to you! Remember, it is a mind game. You can win!
How often should you eat during the day?
It is neither necessary to eat every two hours nor to stop eating at 6:00 PM. As long as your calorie intake is less than your output... Read more
