One month challenge: Anyone want to join me?
Lately I have not been losing very quickly, due to slacking somewhat in my eating habits. While I'm happy that I'm still losing, I really want to kick myself back into gear.
The goal: To lose 8 pounds in the next month.
This would bring me down from 205 lbs today, February 5th, to 197 lbs on March 5th. I plan on doing this by having as close to a 1000 calorie deficit as I can as many days out of the week as possible, which I will achieve both through diet and exercise.
If you would like to join me, it would be great to have the support. You can post your starting and goal weights for this time period, and then we can keep eachother updated on our progress.
Also, I am thinking about taking before and after measurements, just as another way to track progress. If anyone wants to post these stats, you are welcome to.

My weight is at 195 pounds and I have been doing pretty good..I started excerising 5 times a week for the last 2 months and I have lost a total of 20 pounds...so that is 10 pounds per month. It is possible to lose 8 pounds in a month.
My goal is 130 for November 2007. I hope to achieve this before this deadline of course but taking it slow.
measurements...damn those are scary...but whatever helps to motivate you and me....

I definitely want to join!! Right now I'm about 171 and I desperately want to get down to 160 by the first week in March because I'm going on vacation for spring break. I would take my measurements but I don't have a measuring tape! I'm sure I can rectify this situation by a quick trip to Walmart but currently I'm measurementless. Good luck to everyoe that joins!!!
HI, I've been having a real hard time getting my last 10 pounds off. I hit 135 pounds at the end of last Nov. and haven't been able mentally to get serious again. Here I still am at 135. I started calorie-count last May at 157. I think I'm suffering from fear of success or since I'm looking good I've just gotten lazy.
I need the extra motivation. It would be great if I only had two pounds to go by March 5th.
Good idea to keep each other motivated. I'll try for the 1000 cal deficit too. When I was working hard at weight loss I managed about a 500 deficit so this will be a challenge .

Count me in too! I seem to be stuck around 140 right now...I do fine with my eating and exercise all week then the weekend comes around and I binge. So I haven't been gaining weight but I haven't been losing either. My final goal is 115 lbs. by 7/26/07 (my 23rd birthday) and losing 8 lbs this month would really motivate me toward reaching my target weight!

wow! This is amazing timing because just today I set a goal to lose 8 pounds by the first weekend of March. There's a weekend retreat I'm going to on that weekend, and even though I'll still be faaaar from my gaol weight, I want the extra boost of self-esteem that will come when I have successfully lost my first 10+ pounds :)

Count me in. I just started watching calories about 2 weeks ago. In one month, I go to the doctor for my annual physical. I am going to make it a goal to be 10 lbs down from where I was 2 weeks ago. That would be 10 lbs in about 6 weeks which doesn't seem unreasonable and this is a very high stress time for me at work so that would be a great success for me!
P.S. I am not going to weigh myself until I get weighed at the docs office.

Count me in as well. I joined CC today to try and find motivation for my weight loss. It seems no matter how I try, I can't stay with it on my own. 8 lbs is very do-able in 1 month, I know, and maybe I can do it if I have support.
My starting weight today is 172 so my March 5 goal is 164. Oh that would be so great!

Okay, I am in...I am at 165, so minus 8 pounds by March 5th..that would be 157. When I accomplish this, that would be my lowest weight since, well, I can't remember when I was that low...this will be very exciting for me!

Hi, I would love to join if it is not too late. I am at 202lbs and would like to lose 6 pounds to be realistic as there is already one week gone in this month. I am completely unfamiliar with all this so all the input I can get on if this is the right way to procede would be appreciated. Thanks for making this challenge!

i'm a college student so i have to go out of my way to eat healthy at the school eateries, and also i don't have a lot of time for exercise. most days i find myself studying in the library, which isn't much of a calorie-burner. and those late nights working just increases my craving for food.
if anyone has any suggestions for me, i'd be so grateful.

Awesome idea. I need the extra motivation during this period in my life (recent breakup). My current weight is apprx. 140 (I'll weight again this wed. for my other C.C. 12 week weight loss challenge group ). Thanks for the idea.

I did it! :) 1000 calorie deficit. I had to do 3 groups of elliptical. It was worth it.
shelbycat, any questions? Feel free to ask. 6 pounds less is 6 pounds less. It's all good. Everybody is different some lose faster than others due to all kinds of factors. Just remember, we all have to eat 1200 calories or more. No starvation modes allowed. Good luck you all.
sharonc27, when you said you have to go out of your way to eat the good stuff, are you walking? If you are, there is your exercise. Just remember, you can find a way to do anything if you really want to. :)

I am all about this! So, my February 5th, I will be at least eight lbs lighter! Right now i'm at 144. March 5th, I WILL be 137!! anybody with similar goals?
