One more question sorry...

IO also started drinking a slim fast in the morning as I am rushed for breakfast. Is this bad for me? I don't see anyone mentioning slimfast on here. Thanks!

There are worse things to eat than Slimfast and there are better things to eat than Slimfast.  If you check the ingredients the shakes contain an awful lot of sugar.... Which means that if you find yourself really hungry again by mid-morning, don't be too surprised.   Real food is more likely to keep you feeling fuller for longer.

Part of getting into the healthy lifestyle that will mean you're permanently slim involves making time for your health e.g. getting up 10 minutes earlier so you can sit down and have a proper breakfast.... putting out the breakfast cereals the night before to save time.  Even if you only manage that half the time, it's better than relying on meal replacements

Best of luck

I agree with gi-jane, there are better things and worse things, but I believe it's better than nothing, better than Fruit Loops, better than pop-tarts... They have added goodies, so atleast you're getting some nutrition, and they're quick.

Ultimately though, there's no substitute for home made oatmeal.

:)

I make a quick smoothie in the morning (1 cup mango juice, 1 cup kefir yogurt) when I'm in a hurry or if I have pumpkin muffins (made with pinto beans) or black bean brownies those make a reasonably healthy and still inexpensive breakfast.

bowman, i don't know if you're drinking the premade shakes or the mix.  if you look at the ingredients on the mix, you'll see that most of the nutrition comes from the milk (the mix is mostly sugar).  given this, a glass of milk and a piece of toast is a quick, easy option and much better for you.

keeping a few hard-cooked eggs in the fridge is also a great way to get fast protein.

Hi Bowman,

While I agree that there are healthier things you can have for breakfast that are also fairly quick (ie. Yogurt with granola, a smoothie you blend the night before, high fiber/protein cereal, etc.), I think that a slim fast is ok if it works for you. If you find that you're starving after an hour or two, it might be worthwhile to look into other options.

For me, when I was first losing, I would keep a box of Slim Fast Optima meal bars in my pantry for when I needed to grab breakfast on the run. They are high in sugar, but have a fair amount of fiber and protein to get me through the morning. :)
