One-A-Day multi vitamins

Quote  |  Reply
I just bought the One-A-Day All Day Energy multivitamins. I was wondering if anyone has used either this energy one or the weight management one.

If you have or have heard anything about them, do they work? Have you noticed any differences?

I haven't actually started taking the energy one yet.

well i haven't used em but i know someone who does and she says it's awesome. she says she can really tell a difference each day if she forgets to take it. she feels worn out and its harder for her to pay attention.
I take the weight smart one since I'm a college student and it's hard to get all the right nutrients.  I haven't really noticed a difference, but then again, I sometimes forget to take them.  The only thing extra I think besides your basic multivitamin is green tea in order to speed up the metabolism.
response to post#1: if that's the effect I would refrain form taking that @.@ Sounds like some high charged drugs that will spike your system and let you crash without it. Danger of creating a dependancy. I would stick with regulat multi vit.
Ok One-A-Day's maker Bayer was just fined 3.2 million for false claims about their One A Day Weight Smart vitamins increasing metabolism. Link here
I bought Target's version of the Weight Smart this week. It is the same as a multivitamin but it has the green tea extract. I don't know if that does anything for you, but I like the thought of green tea in my system, so I figured for the same price as a regular one a day I get an extra ingredient!
Eating a well balanced diet will surely give you the increased energy (metabolism boost). The multivitiman is meant to fill in the gaps, not replace the nutrients.

Presently I am not taking a vitiman, although it probably wouldnt hurt, and my energy level is through the roof because I am eating a well balanced nutritious diet and exercising.
See mfchill's reply.  The weight control vitamin formula is bogus and Bayer will pay big time for their fraud.  Don't be a sucker for the money grubbers looking to make a buck.

Check ABC.com out they have an artical on the website about how the FTC is going after many companies for false advertising.( FTC Fines Weight Loss pill Firms$25 Million ) I was actually supprised to see that One A Day weight smart is one on the list.  I just noticed that mfchill posted the same.  When I spoke to my doctor he told me that it is good to take a multi-vitamin to make sure the body gets everything it neededs. He suggested centrum or a womans one a day.  He said to drinking green tea is actually better then getting it from vitamins.  I found that green tea with mint taste really good.   As I have found out from working in the healthcare profession everything you do to your body and everything you put in your body has an effect in some way good or bad. So watch what you add because your body may pay for it later.

If you read the WeightSmart vitamin info from One-A-Day, the following astericks is applied to all statements relating the vitamin to weight loss:  These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.
If you're taking the energy version is it because you feel weak during the day?  Do you eat or drink anything at all that contains: NutraSweet, Aspartame, Equal, or Sweet & Low?  Do you drink anything carbonated?  If so, look into what your body pH measures to be.  I found this to be my problem in the energy department, mainly because I drank alot of "diet soda."

Most people who suffer from unbalanced pH are acidic. This condition forces the body to borrow minerals -- including calcium, sodium, potassium and magnesium -- from vital organs and bones to buffer (neutralize) the acid and safely remove it from the body. Because of this strain, the body can suffer severe and prolonged damage due to high acidity -- a condition that may go undetected for years.

Even mild acidosis can cause such problems as:

  • Cardiovascular damage, including the constriction of blood vessels and the reduction of oxygen.
  • Weight gain, obesity and diabetes.
  • Bladder and kidney conditions, including kidney stones.
  • Immune deficiency.
  • Acceleration of free radical damage, possibly contributing to cancerous mutations.
  • Premature aging.
  • Weak, brittle bones, hip fractures and bone spurs.
  • Joint pain, aching muscles and lactic acid buildup.
  • Low energy and chronic fatigue.

Hope this helps some,  Anthony V.
