How much is one once of potato chips?
I don't have a food scale.. plus when I'm in a mood to eat chips, I don't think I would weigh it anyway!
So how would you estimate one once of chips?
Thanks!
Christina... has no clue
As a general rule, most chips are at least 10 calories per chip, that is doritos, lays. baked chips, even those organic chips. so only 10 chips is 100 calories. jmo Not hardly worth it when chips offer NO nutritional value whatsoever. But I always think 10 calories per chip as a general rule.
Thanks everyone! Even with my splurge last night, I was still under my calories for the day!
Just to keep your sanity, here is a suggestion: whenever I get big bags of chips, boxes of cereal and crackers, etc the bag will say it has approximately 12 servings in the bag so I get out 12 of the cheap sandwich bags with zippers. I divide the large bag into the 12 sandwich bags. I then drop the 12 baggies with single servings into the large bag and put that in the pantry. Each time I grab the large box or bag, when I open it up I grab a baggie I know that it is one serving. This works really well if you aren't quite satisfied with one serving because it is really in your face when you take out the second baggie. I find this method works best for me because I can never quite compute how many fragments of a chip equals one chip so by dividing them some-what equal I know that as an average I am eating one serving. You don't have to be 100% accurate just eyeball the baggies at the end to make sure each appears to be the same as the others. You don't need a scale this way.
I forgot to mention that the chips and crackers stay fresher this way too because they are in sealed baggies which I try to get all of the air out of! And...if you always buy cheezits or special k, after you are done with the serving you can put the baggie back into the box and when you buy a new box you already have baggies so you aren't paying a fortune in baggies ---not that baggies are that expensive but if you do everything this way (as I do) then the costs can add up.
This method is very convenient after the initial division of the product. It makes grabbing a single serving quick and easy. No need to pay extra to buy individual serving packages (unless it is pringles LOL).
