Say one positive thing about yourself!

Quote  |  Reply

Okay, here's the deal.  I'm 49 years old (egad - almost 50) and I have decided to change one major thing in my life.  I am not going to beat myself up anymore. I am my own worst critic and quite frankly I'm tired of it.

When we try and watch what we eat and "fail" then we tell ourselves how terrible we are.  Or if we try and work out, but we don't reach our expectations, then once again we feel we are the scum of the earth.

So, everyone of us should say something good about ourselves.  Something we like about our bodies, our relationships with other people, how we do our jobs, what good parents we are - SOMETHING!!!!!

Just try it - believe me, you will feel better!

jessica - you are so clever!  I would have never thought to do that.  Usually I get photos together of family vacations along with stuff I've collected along the way, i.e. receipts, postcards, menus from restaurants and of course the obligatory tour guides - cut out pics and such and "scrapbook" in one of those albums with the sticky backs and clear pages.  I know they aren't the best thing in the world, but I don't have the time or patience to do a decent scrapbook.

Thank you yes that is what we all forget in todays world thansk again soskmb

I am very passionate about my life and my family.

People tell me I am thoughtful and centered.

I am world's best #1 Mom (according to grown children)

I'm getting better at self-care routines.

jenhugalot - (love the name) - passion is something lost in society today.  Too many people just plodding along through life.  Good for you in believing in yourself and your family - BRAVO!

earth mom - WOW!  For adult children to say you are the best mom, that's incredible!  But what I was impressed with is your saying you were thoughtful and centered.  We should all be stable with our emotions - that way we wouldn't eat when we're happy, sad, frustrated, etc.....

Ah, self care - tricky subject for us when we have body issues.  Let me ask everyone - when was the last time you had a pedicure? Manicure? Massage?  Most areas have beauty "schools" where they charge very little for these services because they are students who need to learn.  I had a massage a couple of weeks ago - 50 minutes for $25!!!  I know I should be careful with my money, and the majority of the time I am very frugal, but dang it - it felt so darn good afterwards - like I was literally floating out to my car.

Do something pretty for yourself today - even if it's putting on lipstick before you go out the door.

Have a positive day!

Barbara

I am the world's greatest librarian! And I passed the 100 pound mark this month. Only 60 or more to go.

I have super cute little feet. Size 7, high arches, tanned with shell pink nails. If the rest of me matched my feet, I would be a playboy bunny!

I am very sexy, very tall, have beautiful eyes and legs.

badbonbur - congrats on your achievement!  You have done something many of us strive to do!  I must be honest with you, one of the WORST jobs I ever had when I was in college was working at a library.  It was hot, dusty and smelled of mildew all day long.  I would get SO frustrated when people just put books anywhere they pleased... You must be a VERY patient person!

melifer09 - you don't have to be a playboy bunny - you're cute in your own right.  And you can get all those adorable shoes on sale because your feet are so small! (My father used to tell me I would be 4" taller if there weren't so much of me on the ground - I wear a size 12)

lorettalove - Oh honey, you got the whole package!  WTG!!!!!!

physically: i love my baby blues and my boobs.  Emotionally: I am a laid back, caring person with a big heart.

I'm creative, bright, compassionate and good looking.

It's easy to forget what others see in us on a daily basis. Thanks for the post.

Bodacious,

I like to sing and have been told I have a beautiful voice!Smile

Val

There really isn't too much physcially I like about myself... I could go with eyes like many other people.. But I will say my 'heart'. I'm a good person who(generally) cares about people. I'm dedicated to things that I enjoy(like my mortuary schooling. I keep a 4.0)..

the_embalmer,

I like a lot about myself.  I have a nice face.  I like my hands.  And under all this fat is a cute little bod!  Oh, I  like my feet.

My best feature, I hope, is my smile!!

I'm wicked smart :).  I kick ass at my job and I  have a nice smile.  I also love my technicolor red hair.

A great sense of humor and very creative....and like melifer09, i have cute feet...why they do not match the rest of me is beyond me...LOL

I think it's very important to see the good in yourself and know that not a single soul on this earth is perfect.  I have that issue that I am constantly trying to work on.  I expect perfection in myself but never in other people.....something wrong with that thinking....LOL

Nice topic Bodacious!!!

hi everyone i new to see so i thought i get in this forum let see I think one of my best features is my faith in God and my ablity to like myself even though i am way overweight it is to stressful to hate myself for not looking like i did in my 20's i am going to lose and keep it off because i love my family and friends and want to be healthy for all of us thanks

Well lookie, lookie, lookie, who's into beading.  Bodacious1, I love beading, but I have too many beads and talent not so much.  I tried to label and categorize them but the brains gave out before the beads were stashed, so now I launch them in the air, and whatever comes down becomes the necklace of the day.  My sense of humour is one of my good points.  I stay awake at night to prepare for the next day's funnies, and laugh and smile a lot.  People usually respond to a smile, although they do occasionally turn their head to make sure it's them I'm smiling at!  That's not to say I don't have days that I'm down on myself.  My big mouth isn't always appreciated, and sometimes I get depressed and have to figure out what caused it.  Thanks so much for bringing up the subject.  I can reach my back sufficiently to give it a pat.  And one for you too.

Forgot to add the most important thing:  weight loss.  Over the past few years my weight dragged me down, I felt sluggish and my stomach didn't appreciate the mounds of food I sent down for it to digest.  I looked more like a barrel than an apple and was quite stout.  Today I feel better in all respects and look at myself in a new light.  Although I'm not there yet the mirror no longer taunts me but smiles back at me.   tTanks for listening.
