The one Thing I Can't Eat -

Quote  |  Reply
I can not eat or even taste Cranberries.

Do you have a food that you just can'd do?

Awww... that's sad.. I <3 cranberries.. especially at this time of year--after the thanksgiving festivities, jelled cranberry sauce is only $1 a can at the supermarket. I like to eat it right out of the can, hehe. It's pretty much my favorite food in the whole world.

I can't do nuts. I used to love 'em but then one day my mom brought home chocolate-covered macadamia nuts and after having one too many, my brain just turned nuts off completey. (Notice not the chocolate, haha).
hehehe
peanut butter, almond butter, cashew butter. basically any nut butter.

which is odd because i adore peanuts, almonds, cashews, etc.
sweet potatoes bleh cant' stand them.  I dont' know why exactly, just one of those things no matter how its made I can't do it.
Medium egg noodles. I used to love having them with a stir fry a couple of times a week but then when I was ill I threw them back up and I knwo it wasn't the noodles fault but that's what they remind me of.
Pieces of ginger! Bleck! I can handle ground ginger in gingerbread or stir-fry, but the minute I bite into a piece of ginger I feel disgusted. It's woody and it's spicy (I like spice) but somehow in a bad way to me...
Blue cheese.  I would very much like to like it, but every time I try it - gag.  I keep trying it in case my taste buds have changed :-)
raw shellfish.  There is no way.  I like everything cooked.
pearl, try making your own whole-berry cranberry sauce sometime! It's easy, and sooooo pretty! (Tastes good, too!)

Salome, I'm sure there are many foods I can't handle! I used to hate cranberries and cranberry jelly, for example; that's changed only within the past few years. Used to not like peppers, either; that changed about 18 years ago. I'm not crazy about radishes, and there are a whole slew of animal parts I will not eat! I'd list them, but it's almost time for lunch! :-)
Mayonnaise - Cannot Stand It.  Hate Potato salads, tuna salad, chicken salad, egg salad, etc because I can taste the mayonnaise.   About the only thing I like that contains mayonnaise is ranch dressing, and I only like that when mixed with some vinegar or something else to change the taste.

Undercooked eggs - a friend makes her scrambled eggs runny and my stomach churns just looking at them.

cucumbers.

I cant even look at them.

I can't stand even the slightest smell of cucumber lotion

I WILL throw up if I accidently get it in my mouth.
Broccoli. I know it's so good for you and I wish I liked it... even just enough to eat it. But it smells like old socks when it's cooking and it tastes horrible! haha
thank goodness!

i thought you were gonna say weevils...

water chestnuts for me tho - can't stand the texture...
lol, nomo!!

ali, do you like raw broccoli? It is sweeter raw than cooked, and doesn't smell as bad.
Yogurt - I WANT to like it but it just tastes like rotten food to me

Hot Cereal - same as above but it tastes like wallpaper paste to me

Mayonaise and sour cream...yuck, yuck yucky!!  :)
Leftovers or anything in a styrofoam container.

I am phobic of styrofoam.  You could put my favorite meal of all time in a styrofoam take-out box and I wouldn't touch it.

Other than that, soft-boiled eggs.
Rice crackers!

Got a wicked bad stomach flu a few years back. That was the last thing I ate before I got sick...now I can't even look at them without getting nauseous!
When I was 22 and "Just Married", I wanted to cook a nice meal for my husband so I found this fish casserole recipe that called for cod fillets and mushroom soup - I only had a fish minus the head so I just through that into the casserole dish with the sauce and cooked it up...there was like a trillion scales floating in it!!  I have never heard of de-scaling a fish!! Of course we tried to eat it anyways...so disgusting!!!   I still don't really like mushroom soup but I will eat it.  Just came to me as I read this post!!  LOL

Roxanne - eeew! LOL, what a cute story!

I can't eat raw tomato in any form.  Triggers the gag reflex.  I try every so often because everyone I know eats raw tomatoes and my tastes have expanded considerably as an adult. But no.

Another: slimy eggs, hardboiled eggs, poached eggs.  I can eat a scrambled eggs with stuff in them if they're dry and also omeletts.  But eggs are mostly icky. I don't see how many of you can stomach eating  egg whites.

But to each their own!

Mayonnaise.
Raw Onions.
Vinegar.
Pickled Eggs.
Raw Peppers.

Gross.  Gross.  Gross.
