One pound at a time
I'm looking for a few brave souls who are getting back up on their feet after the holidays. I stayed the same weight, for the most part, and now need to get motivated for the next two cold, long months of winter.
I'm just not up for lots of resolutions, just need some conversation to keep me on track. It's fun to hear the successes and new ideas.
I have one goal right now. Lose one pound. After that then I'll work on the next one.
Any takers?
Thanks for the recipe it really sounds good.
This brave soul got on the scale for the first time this year and YIKES what did I do over the holidays I gained even more weight.
weighed in at 252.50 pounds!
So shooting for that 1 pound off next Wed.
Welcome GymCoach79, the pizza recipe sounds great. That's a fun meal idea! I burned out on salads after my last 'diet' (over a year ago) and having a hard time with balance on veggies.
I was doing pretty good during the holidays then shot up 3 lbs. I had a stretch of catching everything that was going around and that pretty much trashed my workout routines. Finally got back to the gym so this week was better. Sunday I went for a 4 mile hike that was good and steep plus carried my photography gear. Mon did the elliptical machine for 45 mins at a good clip, then climbed on Tues. Wed I was kind of sore, so didn't do anything. Back at it tonight with climbing.
I am starting again with losing 1 lb.
Thanks for being here all!
Hey everyone,
GymCoach79, the recipe sounds good, thanks for sharing. Boy, wouldn't life be great if we all had a personal chef to cook healthy & tasty meals for us and a personal trainer to make us work out. Oh well, back to reality.
I'm struggling with starting. I joined Weight Watchers once and really like the points system plus I have the info I need. However, on this site it wants you to keep track of calories. So I need to figure out which one to go with. Oh and by the way, I gained 2lbs since signing on to the site. So I really need to make a plan and stick with it.
Can you tell I'm frustrated with myself. I need to set myself a schedule; a plan. A something! Sorry for the whinning.
Tym2bhealthy, seems like I've heard quite a few people mention that they tend to go up a bit before starting down. Hang in there!
I was really good for a while about every calorie but it got kind of hard because I cook my own meals and don't do too much processed stuff. I just got the 7 quart Le Creuset Dutch Oven and have made huge pots of chili, beef stew, chicken noodle soup, Ham and bean soup and then portion them out and freeze them.
And because we're talking recipes, here's something I do for every soup I make: Saute a chopped onion and at least 3 cloves chopped or smushed garlic in some olive oil, add veggies and herbs (if dried, sniff then add based on how potent), saute a bit longer going as light or dark as you want, de-glaze with some wine (broth can work if you cook sans alcohol), simmer to reduce by half and then add whatever else strikes your fancy and enough broth to call it soup and 2 bay leaves. (always pre cook potatoes at least a bit) Once everything has cooked for a while, add a small cornstarch slurry boil a few more minutes and you're done.
Imagination is the key. (Soup is another word for Culinary Freedom)
Thanks annschmech
I appreciate the suggests. I'm feeliing better today.
