One day a week without calorie counting

Quote  |  Reply

I'm playing with the idea of one day a week, not counting calories. I would definately go over my 1700 calorie limit, but I wouldn't be the eating like a pig. I was wondering if anyone has tried that and what the outcome was.

I'm new to actual calorie counting but have done this on other programs.  It can work out fine, without negative consequences but you have to be in a routine before starting this.

I recommend calorie counting every day for a month, then try one day a week and see what results you get.  I think you will find that you are aren't going to get too crazy.

Another option would be to still calorie count but not be concerned with the calories on that one day, a free day.  this way you will be able to see how much you are really taking in on those days.

I have a computer free day each weekend so I either don't enter my calories for that day or enter them the next day.

I lost 50 lbs this way.   I just made a weekly deficit goal instead of daily.

Eating at or around your maintenance level once a week can help keep your metabolism from resetting itself as it get used to your lowered intake.

Also it helps mentally...It made me less likely to give into temptation during the week, knowing I had a "cheat" day coming.

I think it's a wonderful idea. On Sunday I cook for my family and i eat what I cook. But by being disciplined during the week I don't go overboard on Sunday I just enjoy my meal. The weight is still coming off slow and steady
