One Week Diet System Thing?
So I just saw a commercial about one week diet system that is supposed to repair your metobolism and help detox your body and lcen out your digestive track, well I look on yahoo answers and ike three people said it was great. I doubt you loose all the weight in one week but you loose a bit of weight each week, the commercial says week by week so yeah. I was just wondering if anyone has had any experience with this sytem or perhaps any idea on how to jump start your metbolism naturally. I had jaw surgery a little over a year ago and I lost about 20 lbs in two weeks because I just couldn't eat anything, I mabe at 500 calories a day MAYBE and that was on a good day when I could keep anything down and didn't have to go to the hospital for IV fluids so I wouldn't die, but basically I killed my metabolism and now I can't seem to get it back working again, so the idea of something that would help repair my mesed up metobolism makes me believe in it so any ideas?

i think it's silly, unhealthy, and too good to be true. here's a quote...
"Given the choice… what would you rather do to lose weight: knock back a glass of One Week Cleanse two times a day and follow simple guidelines for eating, or go to the gym to struggle away on a relentless Stairmaster?"
Uuum...i think i'd rather do something that actually works. I'm pretty sure that there is no substitute for a proper diet and exercise. if you're looking for a quick fix then CC isn't for you. I wouldn't recommend diets like this because they don't teach you anything, offer a band-aid type remedy and there is no real healing going on. i would say DON'T DO IT.
OKay, thank you for the response, now what would you suggest to fix my metobolism because I've been going to the gym six days a week for three months and I haven't lost any body fat.
what are your stats. how many calorie are you eating? and what do you do at the gym?
I'm 5'7" I weigh about 188, I eat about 1600 calories a day and when I go to the gym I do the recombant bike for 30 minutes and then 20 minutes of light weight, On friday and wednesday I do Pilates instead of the weights. I can't do the upright bike because it hurts my hip bursitis and I can occasionally do the Elyptical but when its cold my arthritis flares and I can barely get down the stairs to my car let along do the elyptical.
Why do you think there is anything wrong with your metabolism? You're on an appropriate program and if you keep at it you'll gradually lose. The only thing that works, in my opinion and based on personal experience, is sticking to a sensible plan that you can follow for the rest of your life. You might lose more slowly, but you will keep it off for good.
If you need more information about metabolism or plateaus, may I suggest doing an archive search of Ask Mary (under the Advice tab)?
Here's what I found searching for

How often do you change up your workouts? Some extra heavier lifting might be good for your arthritis too, built up slowly and carefully of course.
And you say 1600 calories but could you give us more ideas of what you eat? Also, how do you feel? Do you feel you are getting enough energy from your foods? Getting proper rest? Drinking enough water? How many times a day do you eat?
I have found that you have to play around with how different types of food affect each person's body. Like I have to limit my bread and diet sodas, even though someone else's body could probably handle them better.
If you really want to cleanse yourself just drink more water, get some fiber into you from fruits & veggies in. Chamomile and mint teas are soothing for your digestive tract.
I've been gaining body fat while doing this, since starting watching what I eat and working out I've gained 20 pounds, and I've had to go up three pants sizes so I'm pretty sure I'm doing something wrong. So its more the fact that I'm not loosing anything that I worry about, if maybe I had stayed at that weight I would be okay but I gained 20 pounds and it wasn't muscle.
As for how I feel, for the last five days I have felt exahsted, Like I can't get enough sleep, I am getting enouhg water, I don't feel dehydrated, I don't feel hungry after I eat for at least four or five hours but I just feel tired, really really tired, like fall asleep at the wheel tired, I don't let myself drive much because of it. It not because of my period, I don't have a period, I"m on Mirena and I haven't had a real period for about three years.
Have you been tested for hypothyroidism?

Have you been tested for hypothyroidism?
Yeah I would get something checked out by the doctor (even a 2nd opinion). If you are eating healthy enough & often enough to gain weight then it doesn't sound good that you feel that exhausted all the time. Hmm and
Just keep taking care of yourself and get checked out.
I've been checked out, I'm borderline normal. I can't remember which level was higher then is hould have been, all I remember is that is was like 4.05 when 4.5 is the high normal, but for my age group I technically should be a 2. I tested my basal body tempurature and I am only 97.4 and it should be 97.6 so not that big of a difference. So I am very very very slightly hypothyroid, and I"m on thyroid meds, I am taking one grain of thyroid meds a day. One big thing, i have an issue with Vitamin D absorbtion. I have been taking about 2,000 IU of vitimin D3 daily and when I got tested I was ten point below normal, well 13 points below normal, so I doubled up my dose and I'm going to get tested again. I am also on Mirena, Methotrexate, Enbrel, Simvistatin, Minocylse, and switching from Zoloft to Welbutrin, so that might be causing some of the weight gain. I take a multivitamin as well as extra Vitimin D3
