Any one have weight gain immediately after miscarriage?
Hello there,
I miscarried on August 14th at about 8 weeks pregnant. I did eat very poorly for the few following days (understandably) due to depression. However, I got back on track in my weight loss and running like crazy. Just to check in, I stepped on the scale and had gained 5 pounds as of this past Monday and totally flipped out. I worked hard all week thinking it was some water but the scale has not budged even 1 pound over the week.
Has anyone experienced this after miscarriage? Could this still be my body adjusting hormonally? - talk about adding insult to injury this is nuts!!
Again, i am so sorry.

I miscarried in April at 12 weeks....I am sorry about your loss. You probably still have hormones in your body which trick it into thinking you're still pregnant. This could be why you're still gaining weight. Also there are other factors...like when one thinks about their weight too much they can stress themselves out and I heard stress increases weight gain as well. Just give it time :)
I'm so so sorry for your loss. As mentioned above, it takes a while for your body to adjust after losing a pregnancy. I had a m/c two years ago at 16 weeks, and I'd gained about 10 lbs during the pregnancy, and gained another five or so after I lost the baby. It took me almost five months to get back to my prepregnancy weight.
It's horribly frustrating, I remember. But it will come off. Hugs to you!
I miscarried about three years ago at 8 weeks as well, and yes, I found that my hormones were nuts for a while, and effected my moods, my weight, etc.
You and your body have been through alot; its kind of like a trauma. So give yourself time and be patient. As everyone else mentioned, the weight (which is probably water retention anyway) will come off when things even out. For me, it took until my cycle resumed and got back to regular (two months) before things got back to normal. Hopefully it won't take so long for you, but remember that it has only been a few weeks.
Just give yourself some time.
Hi-I was only 5 weeks pregnant when I miscarried. I maintained my weight while I was pregnant and then after, was able to drop a little even though I pigged out for a few days. For the last week, the scale is creeping up each day and I'm being so careful, and have increased my activity and it seems to be getting worse. I think it also has to do with hormones because I use an over the counter progesteron cream for PMS and since I started using it again, my weight is impossible to manage. I think it's the hormones trying to figure out what's going on.
Hi,
I'm having the same problem now a couple weeks after I miscarried. I was only pregnant 5 weeks, but for the last week, my weight is impossible to manage.
Did you end up losing the weight from your miscarriage?
I lost my baby at 8 weeks and I still have the weight. I went from my "skinny" jeans to my old jeans that were becoming baggy and hard to keep up. Having depression along with it all doesnt help. And the catch is I don't eat at all really. And if I do eat it usually not loaded with Calories... But I know whats its like, it blows.
I miscarried on the same day :'( only 4.5 weeks... we'd found out just two days earlier. I noticed a change in my hormones over the next few days, but am still maintaining... but that might be due to the overeating and extra exercise. At the minute tho, I'm just concentrating on eating healthy (with a few too many treats lol) and going for lots of walks.
