One day wont kill me, but...
Tomorrow's my sister's birthday, so to celebrate we're going out for dinner (Jack Astor's) and then to the coffepub she works at (William's) for dessert.
Now, after looking at the menu's... it looks like there is virtually nothing that is both somewhat lower-cal and vegetarian friendly (and isn't just a plain old salad). Originally I was thinking of just having a plain baked potato... but even that's over 400cals according to TheDailyPlate.
Anyone a fan of Jack Astor's and know what's both tasty and healthy, so far I'm looking at the garden veggies. XD
Or should I just consider this a 'cheat day'? I'd hate to be the party-pooper after all (although I'm trying to be good and maintain my weight loss) xD
Choose something that you'd really enjoy. You don't have to clean the plate if you don't want to.... if the portion-size is very large, leave some behind. If your choice comes with sauces and dressings ask for them to be served on the side so that you can portion control. 400 cals would be a very light supper, incidentally.
Going out to eat is something that's going to happen for a long time after you've lost weight. You don't want to spend the rest of your life being the one that has a 'green salad' every time so choose a dish you actually want to eat but don't feel compelled to polish off the lot. BTW... Even if you go over your usual calorie intake by 200, 300 or 400 cals it will make no material difference to your weight-loss.
Enjoy the evening.
Jack Astors has the. best. bruchetta. It's loaded with calories but is utterly delicious. The serving is fairly large too. My bf and I split it as a appy and both could barely make a dent in our meals. Not sure if it's vegetarian, but I would think so. It does have cheese and ailoi though.
Hi! We haven't met yet, but I was browsing and had a day like . . "one day won't kill me but. . ."
I liked what gi-jane has to say about choice and understanding that 400 or so won't make or break your efforts. I get so focused on shaming myself every time I get off track, that then I feel bad enough that I throw out the baby with the bath.
Thanks to you all for the good words. I had a day where I "forgot" that having sweet things in the house means that at the end of the day there will be no sweet things left. I was really sticking to my plan, and then there was this period in the grocery where I "forgot." Like I woke up then finally surrounded by chocolate/ vanilla 100 calorie packs, and almost could have claimed my evil twin did it! But I could tell my belly knew it was me indeed.
So pick up where I began, count and tally and plan and just eat what I've planned.
Thanks again
It is perfectly okay to have a cheat day every now and then. I had one three days ago and it felt like crap but the feeling slowly went away!
Enjoy life, eat smart and stay healthy.
