I also find CC forums quite reasonable due to, in a big way, the CC moderators.  On most unmoderated forums, any sort of discussion is almost impossible. I don't really see much bickering in these forums.  I do see individuals who don't appreciate frank feedback. The information given though is generally informed and well intended.  I give CC a B+

This is the only cyber-chatting I've ever done.  I'm not surprised that it's jungle out there, and I appreciate that CC is more moderate.  I battered myself enough with food and self-loathing, I don't need to be abused on-line, and I rarely learn anything anyway if someone is insulting in their presentation.

I have a friend who has been on a political forum for years.  She created an alternate (male) identity that she uses when she wants to be an "a**hole."  She smirks, "People HATE him."  I try to remember that when I run across someone who appears to like being rude on CC.  Some people do not vent their frustrations openly in real life, they act it out on-line.  Not my problem.

I also agree that disagreements and drama are a part of the human condition, even if everyone is being respectful and speaking only from their own experience.  Everyone's opinions are true for them, but mine are the only correct ones (heh heh)

Haven't you guys heard of that internet meme? "Arguing online is like participating in the Special Olympics...even if you win, you're still retarded."

I feel like I should make an Obama-inspired apology for that comment, ahaha... It's not the most PC, but sums up my feelings towards online drama nicely.

hahahahahah

Oh, that is SO wrong, sauvignon.  You and I are both going to hell...

drama is fun.  conscious and deliberate illiteracy is not.

My life would be so empty without e-drama and you guys are a never ending source. I love you guys (when I'm not e-fighting with you)

i love conscious and deliberate illiteracy!!!
woooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!

haha

also, idiocy is idiotic.

hahaha!!

If you want to see some real drama.....try Craigslist rant/rave page.  OMG they lay it all there.  I was thumbing through out of boredom and discovered an hour later that I was still reading.  I was completely caught up in the posts.  No idea (dont want to know) who the people where, but it was drama of the highest order.  No holds bar cage match!

Can anyone post links to some really funny drama posts? I honestly haven't found any.

Although I'm not suppose to admit it, in my line of business (communications), we love and hate people like you Spiro!  We love you because you keep things interesting.  If it makes peoples eyes and ears perk up, then that helps us get the attention of an audience and maybe they'll return for more.  After all, what would a reality show be like without drama?  ZZZzzzzzzzzz.............  Do you think the sponsors would be happy with us if we put people to sleep?  (Maybe -- if the sponsors were selling sleep medication!)

On the other hand, we hate you because we're not supposed to like people who cause drama!  You know the old disclaimer......  "This station does not necessarily agree with the views of blah, blah, blah....."  Bad girl!!!

As for you Spiro, I find you to have a sarcastic and intelligent wit which I enjoy (most of the time), even when you choose to pick on me!  However, I have seen plenty of other people on here who are vicious and take things too far sometimes.  There is a line, and sadly too many people on here and in other chat rooms take it too far.

DISCLAIMER:  This poster neither agrees or disagrees with the use of sarcasm or drama on CC.  Posters should be aware of, and follow, the Posting Guidelines found on the CC site.  Cool

Obviously I'm missing something.  Yeah, people are going to bicker about differing opinions, and some people are going to take offense if they are told some hard facts about their choices.  Okay, it's the human condition.

And I am a bit of a ****-disturber, and love a good verbal sparring match out in the real world.

However, I thought the purpose of CC was to share information and support as we all work to have healthier lifestyles.  So I don't understand intentionally causing drama here, deliberately being insulting, to entertain self or others.  Are we so eager to show off our wit that a site designed to help people becomes our personal playground?

It seems counter-productive to me.  I beat myself up enough as a morbidly obese person.  I don't need someone else scoffing at me or taking my struggles lightly.  Ignorance is not alleviated with name-calling, I don't care how cleverly it is worded.

Oh, mad4moon, what are we to do?  In real life I'm a mild-mannered, peace making, change management communications specialist and a pillar of my community.  But alas.... give me a rotten day, and let me hide behind my PC screen in the sanctuary of my home, and something terrible happens.....  I become sarcastic!!!!

Some days I can be so supportive on here, and other days I let people get to me and I give a little shove that I shouldn't.  Woe is me......  What can I say?  I'm human!  I just need to learn to step away from the computer and to take a few deep breaths sometimes!!!!

So in response to post #1 from canadafats, whatcha' gonna' do about it buddy?!!!!  Don't like our drama, huh?!!!!  C'mon!  Give it to us!!!!  We can take it!!!!  hee hee

I love it! but not if someone gets upset by it and stops posting! I like to think of it as just banter, a release valve for some....but again within reason and only with people who can give back as good as they get.

ah, see kauf?  this is why i like you.  you know how to say what you mean.

90% of the drama i get involved in is with people who can't do that.  they offer opinions as facts, they say "you" when they mean "I," and they make broad generalizations about what other people "should" do.

if people could be bothered to learn to communicate effectively, there'd be very little drama.

See, I disagree.  As long as we've got people who feel strongly about their own opinions, we are always going to see drama...no matter how effectively they communicate.

Do you really disagree with that peaches~?  Because I might have to disagree with you!!!  I feel pretty strongly about that!  (JUST KIDDING!!!)  Cool
