4'11 only 82 pound ineed of help please!f
i everyone i am 17 years old im 4'11 and only 82 pounds im am very thin my goal is to reach 105 pounds...i hate being this thin...i try eating everything but no progress please give me some advice..... tipss anything.
To increase your food intake aim for the 'little and often' approach... a meal or a snack every couple of hours. And choose plenty of energy-dense, low bulk foods. Nuts, dried fruit, oils, butter, full-fat dairy products, red meat, oily fish, avocados, pasta, rice, bread, grains. Protein shakes make a good top-up. The combination of frequent meals and low-bulk foods means you're not suddenly trying to sit down to enormous great meals and feeling over-full which can be uncomfortable.
As you are quite underweight and there are long-term health implications you could always consult your doctor and see if there is any dietician support available.
Are you extreamely active in sports? I stayed the at 115lbs for five years, regardless if I tried to gain or loose weight because I played soccer every day, running like a mad woman!
If you want to gain weight, increase your calorie intake to your calorie output ratio. Like, if you burn 1200 calories a day, and you are eating 1500 calories a day, you're really not going to gain all that much weight. Here is a simple formula that I found in my Base's newspaper.
Take your goal weight: i.e. 105
then mulitply it by your activity level
11= couch potato
13= mildly active ( about 1-3 hours of moderate exercie per week)
15= highly active (sports, gym for 1-2 hours a day, etc,etc)
so if you are a potato, then you should be eating around 1200-1500. I know the math doesn't add up, but you shouldn't eat less than 1200 calories a day, regardless of your weight. And so forth and so on.
Well, this is a calculator used by the HAWC,(Health And Wellness Center) through out the Air Force. I have stated in other posts to talk to your doctor. I guess I forgot to say that here. Sorry.
wow actually that sounds to me like the most accurate estimate i've ever found- im very small (5"1, 100 pounds- not trying to gain weight, just maintaining) and i know that if i ate what most other calculators say i burn- something around 1900 calories- it would definitely be too much for me. i'm moderately active and maintain at about 1300-1400 calories a day- 1900 would make me gain too much.
1300 is way too little food! if you gain on more then its your body telling you that 100lbs is too low. can you imagine eating that little your whole life, think of it that way. i dont think the calculator is accurate, the cals given is way too low, maybe if you stayed in bed all day.
i dunno... 1300-1400 calories is plenty food for me. sure i can imagine eating like that my whole life. i DO make myself a cheat day once a week anyways to make sure my metabolism isn't slowing down- so on cheat days i eat more low-bulk-high-cal foods than on regular days. seems to be working fine for me. last time i went to the doctor i was the picture of health
. im just very small in every way.
I just logged all my food today, and dude, 1300 calories is alot of food! Two cups of coffee with cream and sugar, oatmeat with milk, 1 bagel with peanut butter, 2 chicken strips, 1 medium baked red potato, gravy,mushrooms, and a fudge popsicle! Oh, and 8oz of Dorito nacho chips! It comes up to 1365, so if you spread that food out in a 12-14 hour period, then you're eating pleanty!
But, I'm 5"2 and small frame, and anything below 115 is too skinny for me. I'm shooting for 120-125. Wish me luck!
1300 calories is not enough for someone who is trying to gain weight.
Sheri ~ How active are you throughout the day? After adding activities to your Activity log, what is your estimated Calories Burned for the day?
If you are wanting to gain a .5lb a week, you will need to consume 250 calories more than that number. If you want to gain 1lb a week, you will need to consume 500 calories more than that number.
How many calories have you been eating and not gaining on?
homesick18 ~ If you are eating 500-600 calories less than your estimated burn to maintain, have you considered consulting with a nutritionist or doctor to make sure that there aren't any medical issues (thyroid, slower metabolism, or something of the sort)?
1300 could be enough to kick start your weight gain, especially if you are increasing your calorie count. True, you'll have to adjust your amount as time goes on, but this could be a reasonable number for her to start on. Remember, calorie intake needs are DIFFERENT for every one. One cookie-cutter tool or calculation isn't going to work for everyone all the time.

Figure out what type of eater you are and you might just find the answer to permanent weight loss.
