I really only have 5lbs that I want to drop- just never been able to do it!

I am 28, weigh about 131 (after losing 10lbs and gaining 3 back), a huge runner, skier, outdoors person. I never really have "needed" to lose weight, but of course every lb helps to feel better and stronger. I work an office job, but get up every morning and run (4-6 days per week, about 20-40 miles total) and lift (high reps 2x p/wk). I have had a weight goal in my head of around 125lb, which would be perfect on my body (getting rid of all those "areas"). I eat healthy (always have), but LOVE my weekends. I enjoy my wine, love cooking for people, and tend to make bad choices on the weekends with eating. I also do the most exercising on the weekends- either a 10mile run (or mt biking or something that burns 1000+ cals) and then something light on the other weekend day (or ski both days).

Anyway, I did the Metobolic Research Center's diet for a couple months (Jan 09 thru Feb 09) recently. I decided it wasn't the most healthy diet and I think it is why I have gained a few lbs. It cut my calories down to 1000 cals p/day to put my body into a fat burning, kytosis state. You take lots of supplement pills and drinks, no caffeine, alcohol, sugars, etc- very restrictive. I am only 28 (and not overweight) so I felt that was too much and not geared toward an active person.

Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions on how I can bring my metabolism back to a normal point where I can lose those dang 5lbs if I eat 1600 calories and workout? Thanks!!

Hi,

I actually just finished up one of my seasonal cleanses that I do. I do one in the spring, one in the fall. I have studied fitness & nutrition, and worked in the health food & supplement industry for a few years as well, so I have gotten a hold of a lot of great information on this.

What I like to do best is a raw food and/or juicing cleanse. I did one for 10 days just recently. Only juiced vegetables and occasionally fruit.

I work out 4-5 days a week and I eat relatively healthy (my problem is chocolate chip cookies and all the pizza my boyfriend likes to order). So I did not need to lose a ton of weight or anything. I like to do this because it gives my body a chance to relax and not have to digest anything that could be a possible food allergy. Things like dairy, eggs, meat, gluten, etc. they all have that potential, and at the very least can cause serious inflammation (which makes us feel and look fatter than we are), so eliminating them for 10 days makes me drop 4 pants sizes! Everytime.

Anyway, hope thats somewhat helpful. I try to keep it in mind when I know things are getting a little out of control and I need to reset my eating habits. Plus it's a GREAT way to detox, and juicing vegetables does wonders for your skin.

Take care and good luck!

Hi,

I'm new here and im trying to lose 5 pounds also. Im trying to keep my calorie intake at about 1000. I feel stuck at 120 lbs! trying to get down to 115. i'm going to try 50 situps a day. I already hula hoop for 30 minutes minimum everyday which is really supposed to cut down on inches. :] good luck
