Moderators: duke3522, devilish_patsy, topanga1485, nycgirl, spoiled_candy, cmillington, coach_k i only lose weight on a low carb diet
a while ago i posted about eating too much protein and got the response that it was really bad for me ect ect (192 grams)
well, i stopped doing that but i cannot lose any weight. i dont have much to lose--maybe like 5 or 10 pounds but i always feel bloated with my current diet. i only eat whole grain-high fiber carbs and lean protein but i cannot seem to lose the weight.
anyone have any advice?

The truth is that low carb diets work. I don't care what anybody says, and it's not unhealthy. It is if all you eat is sausage and cheese all day long, but it does work. I would start with a 40/40/20 diet and then take it from there. That's 40% protien, 40% carbs, and 20% fats. If you don't get results from that, then go to 50% protien and 30% carbs. In that percentage base don't include leafy greans like spinach and stuff. Once you achieve goal weight you can change the ratios and increase your carb intake to a maintenance level by increments of 5%.
Since you didn't post anything else about exercise, your diet might be sutible if you haven't been exercising, but need to start. You need to create a healthy daily deficit of 500 - 1000 cal. If you haven't been exercising that alone will change everything. Not to mention your daily maintenance caloric intake will change and increase over time. If you find yourself dropping over 2 lbs a week after the inicial week or 2 your calories are too low. Also, break up your meals over 5 meals instead of 2 or 3 if you haven't been already. That is a sure fire way to lose weight, as the smaller meals eaten every 3 hours keep your bodys metabolism working

im going to annoy everyone by almost agreeing with you. Ive discovered no matter how much i cut the calories unless i restirct myslef to just fruit, veg and a bit of protien (im veggie) i dont lose weight.
However another reason for the lack of lose may not actually be the carbs but prehaps the wheat? I recently discovered an intollerance to wheat, i cut it out with the intention of helping exzema, migraines, low energy and discovered how much its effected my weight loss. If i ever 'cheat' and have something with wheat in it i gain a few lbs over night as i guess my body retains water to mitigate the effect of the wheat. Cutting out wheat has meant cutting loads of easy carbs as most pre made carbs have wheat added to them, so instead i have to have other grains which i can only really cook at home. prehaps this is worth you investigating

ahh...i am so happy to discover i am not the only one.
i have tried restricting calories, eating only "good" carbs like alot of people suggest but it just does not work! not only that--i find that i am always hungry with a lower protein diet (not low protein-just lower).
also, i am always on and off with the excercise. i will be good for 2 weeks and then my kid will get sick and its all downhill from there....

THE CARB DIET DOES WORK!!!!
so much
but the special k diet
works too... well my special k diet instead works
I eat:
No snacks though!- actually depending on how many calories
but its filling!
BREAKFAST
2 cups of Cheerios[with splenda on top]
1 cup of Fat free milk
Total: 290 calories
LUNCH
2 cups of Cheerios[with splenda on top]
1 cup of Fat free milk
Total: 290 calories
DINNER
Either a salad or what i had for lunch again
AT THE MOST THE TOTAL WILL BE: 900 calories a day!
I can confidently say that the no/low carb diet works miracles. In fact, it was the only diet that I ever lost such a dramatic amount of weight in a short period of time. Howeeevvver, I can also say this. You...gain...it...back. TRUST me. I was the atkins QUEEN. and now here I am, doing it the right way, although its insanely tempting to go back, I know it doesnt last now. I have found that LIMITING my carbs helps me lose weight, slower... but it stays off.
