Now the only thing a Chatter needs is a suitcase and a drum.
*nod nod* I actually prefer turnips in beef stew over potatoes! But both are good. I have never had a problem using the crockpot, if it gets too watery I just thicken it with a little cornstarch and water.
Season it with garlic and a dash of curry powder. Both of those bring out flava!

My beef stew is SO good that it's just as good cold as it is hot. :D That's how good it is :D

I have never found corn starch ever works well for me for thickening. I dunno why, but.. it doesn't thicken it much.
Curry. Turnips. Good suggestions, as I've never used either!
HK love Turnips. They're good raw, and cooked :D
So.
Tomorrow is weigh-in day.
Anyone want to whisper to my scale and tell it to be nice? I did my best this weekend, but I don't know that I ate well, per se.
I'm not sure I even know what a turnip looks like. I know it's a root vegetable, and I feel like it looks like a colorless beet, but I really don't know!

Heehee. Thanks. :D
Do you mix the cornstarch with water? I usually do 1 tsp cornstarch to 1 tbsp water, mix it well. You dump it in while the mixture is boiling (or close to boiling) and stir. Sometimes you may need to repeat, but that's what works for me.

Aye, I do.
*shrugs*
I may be cornstrarch challenged.
That's how I use it too, Laura... otherwise, it has a tendency to form yucky lumps. I don't like dumplings, y'know?
S'okay. We all have our challenges. Mine is math. Yours is cornstarch. Good thing you majored in Engineering and I majored in Hospitality Management, eh? :D
*shakes fist at HK's scale menacingly*
don't MAKE me come over there....

Mmmmmmmm dumplins!
I *DO* like Dumplings.
But I don't like blobs of cornstarch. They're not tasty and they do odd things to your mouth.
mix the cornstarch with cold liquid, not hot, to avoid lumps, then add to boiling stew.
I thicken my stew at the end, however, in the french fashion, just as Julia taught me :)
