Oolong tea helps burn fat!
I was reading on Real Age.com a post by the doctors (OZ) that Oolong tea burns fat at a rate of 2.5 times, I would link it to the posting, but I can't figure how to, if you want me to find it for you send me a message and I will figure how to find it. I feel the things on that site are not there by the Doctors unless there is research behind it.
Good luck to all...keep up the good work!

I am totally ignorant when it comes to tea, hot or iced. I've had green tea often and I like that. But I don't care for black tea. What does Oolong taste like? Can it be iced?
Not normally a tea fan but jumping on the green tea bandwagon as of late for the health benefits. Will have to find some of this oolong tea to try.
I've searched for Oolong tea before without having success. Guess I'll have to try a health store. :P
That is pure bullcrap. Drinking tea is like drinking water, maybe you lose wieght if you replace tea with you daily soda, but this is another one of those disgusting fads meant to make people go out and buy things.
Oolong tea is a tea that is oxidized inbetween green and black. It tastes more like a green tea, but it is more floral and less sharp than green.
oolong tea is very nice, very yummy.
the key to the metabolism boost and antioxidant benefits with teas is that you have to use high quality, loose tea leaves and brew strong tea (1 tbsp/cup of water - boiled, then cooled for a minute or two, steeped for 5 minutes). it's just as good iced, provided that it's brewed properly and that it's good tea.
edit: nesmaster, the best place to get oolong is in the chinatown of your nearest city, if possible. next best is a good health food store.
I dont drink tea but are there any other things that really boost the metabolic rate
Thanks pgeorgian, I'll keep that in mind the next time I venture into the city.
I'm not terribly interested in whether or not the fat burning thing holds any truth, I've just been interested in trying the tea. :-)
I find oolong tea in ethnic grocery stores or ethnic food aisles. It's usually in loose tea form not in bags. Superstore (canada) sells nice steeping pots for under 15$. I always thought tea leaves were tea leaves and that it's how they are processed that makes them better or different. Kind of like eating a carrot raw or boiling it, leaching out some of the nutrients. Leaves are fermented (black tea) for some, not for others (green tea). Not to mention all the herbal options that don't even have tea leaves in them.
I love oolong tea! It is the same tea they have in the Chinese restaurants. I don't know if you have a Safeway there, but I get mine there. Twinings makes a brand, as does Revolution. The Revolution stuff is awesome, and I use that as my "special" tea. It is very tasty, great iced and doesn't have the bitter green tea after taste. Even if it doesn't help you burn fat, it is loaded with antioxidants and is much better for you to drink than diet soda or the like.
I'm not a huge fan of green tea, but I'm thinking about trying to drink it more. I've been sneezing a lot lately and they say it builds up your immune system.
