Oolong Tea for weight loss??

Quote  |  Reply
I currently live in China where tea is drunk constantly. Everyone keeps saying to drink Oolong tea to lose weight. It is supposed to be very effective with aiding weight loss. It is apparently twice as effective as regular Green Tea.

I have looked it up on the internet too, and lots of people keep saying the same thing (apparently Opera swears by it). But none of the people making these claims are actually Doctors, or Nutritionalists, so I don't know if it's really true.

Either way, since I live in China, the tea is in large supply, and very cheap, so I drink it every day. But is it as effective as the claims? Has anyone heard any info on this? What specificlly in this tea is so effective?

Thanks everyone...

I am a big tea lover now for a long time but just recently I came along oolong tea or wu yi tea (the one from rishi tea is just delicious!!) without knowing of its side effects and when I started drinking it I seriously started noticing that it curbed my appetite and I never had those kind of side effects with green, white, black or herbal teas. Mostly I just love its taste but it really helps me not to binge at night when I am studying, which I usually do ;)

So it works for me.

tea boosts your metabolism.

Hi everyone, I just came across this site saw some of your posts with regards to oolong tea. After my first child i tries oolong tea and it worked, i lost all my extra weight due to pregnancy. Now, after having my second child who has  stopped breastfeeding, i am back on it seeing it worked so well previously, i even recommended it to a dear friend and she is seeing results. the only thing is at the beginning it sends you to the washroom a wee bit more regular than usual. Hope this helps

Try to avoid drinking tea with main meals though. Most teas have tannins which inhibit the absorption of iron causing a counter effect if you think 'nutrition'. Take your teas in between meals if you can...Tongue out! I am heavy tea drinker myself; I looove Oolong tea! But it's good to know the other nutritional effects!

I lived in Japan for three years and drank Oolong Tea A LOT! I had to my a month after I moved there (yea, I moved 8 months pregnant!). I have had two more children since then and I actually lost more weight with my first one and think the tea had a huge affect on it.

I just started getting back in to tea drinking again, and I miss Oolong.   Right now I have really cheap green teas, some fruit teas, and "dextox" and "diet" teas (I highly doubt those work, but I bought them on a whim and have become accustom to their rather odd taste :) )

Must find oolong!

I drink tea and lost maintain weight. I also exercise regularly, and watch what I eat, but I am pretty sure it's all about the tea. Undecided

Correlation does not equal causation, just all that I am saying
