Do you think there is a certain age when they shouldn't be worn?

I used to wear them all the time.  Now I'm 35 (which I know isn't old, but it's not young either)oops I just realized I'm still 34 until 8/5.  Last year I wore one because I had it and had a very private back yard so when I'd play in the baby pool w/ dd I wasn't worried anyone would see.

This year (we are in a different house more publicly seen) I have been working out getting back in to shape.  I think I may be close to bikini ready but I think I may just be too old.  I know I shouldn't care what others think, but I also don't want to be been seen as the old lady at the township pool that should not be in a bikini.  I even bought a one piece, it fits nice and is very flattering, which I haven't worn a 1 piece in so long I couldn't tell you when.

Valarie Bertinelli (sp?) looks awesome in the Jenny Craig commercial.  I wish my body looked like hers...maybe someday soon if I keep with it.

Anyway do you think there should be an age limit on wearing bikini in public?

just updated my profile & gallary w/ pics of my belly to give a better opinion

no age limit...if you are comfortable in it..wear it with pride!

age limit? no freakin way!

i'm definitely with kae on this one! as long as you pick something flattering and tasteful (like skip the skimpy triangle tops, etc), i'm sure you'll look great!

plus, you are only 35!! 30's the new 20, didn't you know? :P

I think there should be an age limit. However, 35 isn't old.

Agreed with all. Go with what you are comfortable in and what flatters your body type best.

There are plenty of 20 somethings that should NOT be sporting a skimpy string bikini! LOL! Tongue out

Shoot!  80-year-old grandmas with bingo-wings and wrinkles galore wear bikinis here.

If you feel comfortable, wear it.

Do what makes you feel comfortable.  I just turned 50 late last year....I happily wear a bikini.  I am not going to let a *number* stop me from wearing something or doing something I love in life.  I may not have abs of steel but I measure up pretty well on a beachfront.

Go for it!

I probably shouldn't be wearing them.

:P

If you were on a beach in spain or italy EVERYONE would have their boobs out, young or old, pert or, shall we delicately say, heading south somewhat! As long as you feel happy with it then go for it!

Surprised Lol! That reminds me of this one of Jim Carrey! Laughing

"Talk about a haltered state! Jim Carrey and girlfriend Jenny McCarthy hit the Malbu beach Friday for an Independence Day stroll. Later, the couple reemerged, with Carrey donning McCarthy’s sexy low-cut swimsuit for the awaiting paparazzi."

It doesn't have anything to do with age as far a I'm concerned. It has to do with what's flattering to your body. As well as what's within your own comfort zone to wear. That's all. There is no age cap that makes it unacceptable or tacky. There are styles that are only suited for certain bodies though. I've never understood how some men/women walk out into public in certain things. Their comfort zone is just BEYOND normal limitations.Lol!

However: If you have got it you should wear the thing and flaunt it. Seriously though at 34 years of age you are old enough not to much care what others think of your swimsuit!  As long as you are happy and feel comfortable. Go for it! Have a good time with your daughter.

Bikinis have no age limit! I see girls my age who look horrible in them and I'm 25, so if you got the body/confidence...FLAUNT IT MISSY!!!

Be Happy & Have Fun!

btw: I bought a monokini style suit this year because it was flattering. :) Check those out because they can be oooh so flattering/sexy/or cute. It depends on who's wearing the suit. Some women make things that are meant to look hawt look adorable. Lol! Some of them class it up making you appear a little older. Or: Just seemingly feel age appropriate yet still young/ fresh. They don't all appear to be made for tweens. Lol.  Every girl should have at least one bikini, imo. Plus: Other swimwear! It's fun to wear things that feel good and flatter your body.

I <3 Jim Carrey.   " Every beautiful girl deserves to go to a ball. " - Quoted from the movie: Yes, Man.

That was just so true/good/funny/ and sweet!

Lets just switch that around a bit: " Every beautiful girl deserves to wear a bikini." Lol!

No age limit, as long as you are comfortable with it.

enchanting,

I tried the monokini...definately not the look for me.  I have tough time fitting in one piece...part of why I've not had one until about a month ago when I wasn't comfortable even thinking of wearing a bikini (I bought for a last minute trip).  I did try on a couple of the "monokini" and it wasn't pretty.

But thanks for the suggestion

OMG, I was just having this exact same conversation with my friend on Saturday.  She is 44 and has an amazing body.  She wears nothing but bikinis!

I'm 40 and told her that I thought I was too old to wear one.  She said I should buy one because if you look at some of the other women who wear them, I would look fantastic by comparison.  It really was intended to be a compliment I'm sure!  But no bikini for this 40 year old.  Tankini yes, bikini, no.

You're more than welcome. It's okay to <3 bikini's at any age! You could always buy another color/pattern/ect. Sometimes that helps to transition over into a seemingly ' older  style.'  It may make it seem more age appropriate/appearance wise to you.

Wear it! It makes more sense to just wear your bikini. It may just be the style that fits/flatters your body best. There's nothing wrong with someone your age wearing one with comfort/confidence. If that's something you would struggle with in another suit style... It would take away from the whole experience, imho.

Monokinis? Not up for the weird tan lines tbh (she says, as though she'd ever get a tan in rainy England!)

Frokusblakah, terribly sorry about your nose, and the loss of your cocoa :-/
