So yesterday I did a super hard group workout class called Total Conditioning (75 min, weights, resistance bands, cardo).  This morning my lower body is so sore!  (ie have to take it slow walking up and down the stairs and sit down very slowly)

My question is if I should workout today?!  I read somewhere that even if you are sore from a workout the day before, it is better to workout to prevent muscle soreness the following day also?  I was thinking a LIGHT workout and longer than usual stretching??

Opinions please!!

I usually find that a nice walk helps with soreness in my lower body.  I wouldn't do anything more intense than that.  Stretching and a soak in the bathtub would probably help, too.

I stretch and walk if I'm sore, no lifting/running. If you move and use the muscles that are sore, it helps reduce the swelling, but you want to do it in as natural a way as possible--no weight, no resistance works best, IMHO.

I'm sore in my lower body too, from a really intense soccer game. I'll walk some and stretch, especially calves, quads, hams, thighs. That's it for me today!

I'll be curious to see what others recommend!

Thanks for the ideas!

I was thinking a light 30 minute walk on the treadmill and some time in the hot tub!

If you don't do a little something today, your body is going to be even more sore tomorrow.  The best thing to do is to take an easy, light to moderate paced walk for 20 to 30 minutes to keep your muscles limber and engaged.  Follow that up with a few minutes of stretching or yoga.

yoga is great when you're sore, as long as you don't push yourself too hard, as everyone's mentioned.

When I've worked myself real hard, and find myself sore the next day, doing some light weights and pushing through the pain at the gym really helps my muscles relax and not feel so sore.

I find that a banana or two and some ibuprofen before hopping in the tub does wonders.  The potassium in the banana helps clear out the lactic acid and make you less sore.  The lactic acid also causes some inflammation so the ibuprofen, aspring, and naproxyn type drugs do wonders for that as well.  Then you have the hot bath to pull the blood flow through all those stiff sore muscles carrying the potassium and medicine in and the bad stuff out.
