Your Opinion about weighing
When I lost my 115+ pounds last year by the end I was contantly weighing myself, whcih ultimately led to an eating disorder. After I recovered however by this past summer, I then started weighing myself once a week (same time, scale, place, etc.) and basically whenever I saw my weight go down I would just regulate my eating patterns to match this. I dropped a few pounds, but took advantage of my break to gain a few back so that I was at my "healthy" weight...so I went back to school and one Sat. (when I usually forgot to weigh myself). So I waited until the next week and forgot again...and then last week came and I didn't do it...and you know what I feel GREAT!...I haven't been eating anymore or anything and know it is probably the same or aorund the same weight as when I last weighed myself about a month ago....I was just so tired of getting on that scale every Saturday, having my heart beat fast, etc. as I waited to see the number and found it to drive me crazy still even once a week....do you think though that it is ok if I just keep eating at my maintenance and don't weigh myself anymore like I have been doing over the past month?
Yes, that's perfectly okay.
Seriously, what this is a ll about is feeling good. To feel good, you have to listen to your body. Do your clothes fit well? Do you feel healthy? If so, keep eating like you're eating and living like you're living, and ignore the scale.
Obsessive scale checking can really get you down, and beating up on yourself emotionally is physically unhealthy. So just do what you have to do to maintain a healthy feeling body, and leave the scale alone. Only weigh if you're curious, or maybe every couple of months if you think you need to. Your weight is really only one indicator of your health, and it's not a very good one at that. Listen to your body - it will tell you far better than a scale can, especially once you've reached a stable weight.
Congrats to you for losing weight when you had too much, and then defeating your eating disorder! Those are both enormous accomplishments! And congrats for forgetting to weigh yourself. In your case, that's probably just one more sign of good health.
is perfectly okay. and you know what, if you weighed yourself in two months and it is +/- 5 pounds it will really mean nothing because of variables like water weight, what you ate, clothes you are wearing, muscle gain... etc... heck, i know people that never weigh themselves - and when the doctor does it, they don't even pay attention.
so long as you feel on track and you clothes are comfy~
That's absolutely ok! I never weigh myself unless I'm in my parents bathroom and I just randomly think... huh... I wonder how much I weigh? lol. It's so much better to not have to worry every moment if you gained weight or something.
thanks so much everyone for your positive input...I definately think your right....
I am just so happy when I consider how healthy my outlook is now considering the all time low I was at last year at this time
thanks again ;-)
Seriously, it's GREAT that you're not letting the scale rule your life or determine your mood. As long as you keep your healthy habits, there's no need for you to weigh yourself constantly. If you're happy just checking in once a month or maybe even less, that's great and perfectly fine. :-D Go by how you feel--when I'm maintaining I mostly go by my pants--do they fit the same? Button okay and all? Then I'm good to go!
I gave up weighing myself daily for Lent, and I've never felt better! Kudos to you for figuring out what works best for YOU.
