i totally agree with oprah..usually when someone is over weight...i know at least with myself..u tend to loose...like she says..lovin urself....u have to love urself..i think most ppl tend to their families first...at least i know thats what my problem is...i always put myself at the bottom of the list..n never get anything done that i want to..nor do i ever spend any money on myself...always make excuses that the kids or hubby needs something n that i really can wait..but hey i agree with oprah.....IM LOVIN MYSELF THIS YR :)....yesssssssssss its all about me..i think this yr is finally mine..n i actually started spendin some money on myself..nothing major..but baby steps lol...n i actually feel great about it n i dont want to take it back what i bought which is what i would normally do...i am a mom of 2 kids....both girls...7 n 6 yrs old..n when i lived away from my home town..i looked after 9 kids..yes very busy..n no time for me obviously..:) so...its my turn...time taken for me...n im gonna love it :) i hope u do the same ....tc n have fun with ur weight loss :)

Not to be overly critical but I think I will take advice from someone besides Oprah who seems to "solve" the weight problem every few years............I have been able to successfully do that myself.  I will put myself in the hands of professionals............as in Ask Mary, etc. and go with it.  Oprah is wonderfully successful in TV and business but weight loss and maintenance is not her bag!

Your post is unreadable. Try typing in real english instead of text speak. You also might want to learn what a paragraph is and how to use it.

I'm with mooni on this. haha

I don't watch Oprah anymore but I'm not sure why people get their panties all in a bunch just because she hasn't been successful in maintaining her weight. People need more hobbies...

Haven't been watching her lately, but I suspect I would feel the same way about her current "plan" as I did about all the other ones I've read about:  I've gotten this far and lost this much weight without listening to Oprah - I have no reason to start now.

But if it works for her, I wish her all the best.

Regarding the use of 'text speak' or other conventions of abbreviation, the post above is readable - i read it and comprehended it with no trouble

the post is in English and on topic.  it is within our guidelines.

If you feel compelled to comment on someone's spelling, grammar, or composition - that's fine - I do appreciate that it was done fairly civilly above.  But please be advised that such comments are off-topic and may be deleted if their effect is to derail someone else's thread.

Thanks!

To reply to the OP, I haven't seen Oprah lately, so hadn't heard about her new plan.

From what I've gathered from reading snippets of articles on her web site, she is an emotional eater, which brings its own set of issues to be dealt with.

I don't think the root of my weight loss challenges today are emotional.

I wish her all the best.

No "panties in a bunch" just stating a fact. Sorry if it bothered you.  When I need a fire put out, I call the fire department.  I am a nurse, don't ask me to help with making a car.  We all have our strong points. And hers are multiple!

I personally think if Oprah stopped coming up with so many "plans" and just ate and exercised with moderation, the majority of these plans being fad diets in essence, she wouldn't have such trouble keeping weight off.

However, I've heard she also has emotional eating problems, and as Nomo said that's a whole different ballgame that she has to tackle. I personally know how hard that is to fight, so I wish her luck with that.

I rarely watch her show but watched it on Monday (about 'falling off the wagon'), and I think it's interesting that people are automatically jumping on her without hearing what the plan is about.  Her show on Monday was her acknowleding she eats for emtional reasons and finally coming to accept that.  She said when she is stressed and/or lonely she eats too much.  Her plan is all about loving yourself first.  It's not a "diet" plan per se.

I'm at work during the day when her show airs. What is the plan?

i watched on monday, too, even though oprah usually induces me to turn off the TV and get a life.  it just looked like more of the same to me.

re: post #2 - i probably could have deciphered it; i just couldn't be bothered.  i'm with mooni: english, please.

edit: i just wanted to add that oprah's navel gazing stopped being insightful a long time ago.  self analysis is great, provided that it leads somewhere.  but re-processing the same crap for a decade isn't just boring, it's pathological.  and doing it on TV - i don't even have a word for that.

how about "$2.7 Billion"?

that's her net worth

i don't watch her show - sometimes i read one of her magazine articles - i have no beef with her - i'm happy for her success and wish her the best in her challenges - she's a human being - just like the rest of us - flawed, making her way through life to her ultimate end in the best way she can, just like the rest of u

exactly.  we talked about this in my clinical practice class last night; very few people can afford to spend their entire lives in therapy.  most of us suck it up and get over it.

i don't want to deny oprah her issues.  i just think her show was more interesting when it was about other people besides her.

if i watched it, i would probably agree with you  :)

(thanks, kg!)

Well Oprah's plan can't be any worse then Gwyneth Paltrow's. I read on perezhilton that Gwyenth's plans are to detox and fast. Oh yeah, that's ultra healthy.

Oprah is a very successful woman and she seems to have a cult of followers..:P but I will not take any advice from anyone other then someone who is a nutritionist, a doctor or someone who seems to aviod fads who had kept a successful diet and gives information that makes sense.

alle0299...i just wanna agree with u...yes she is an emotional eater..as myself...n i think her speakin out is lettin ppl know that she even being as sucessful as she is...is only human like we all are..n what she says is true..it all boils down to LOVIN URSELF FIRST :) ...if we all loved ourselves the way we should i dont think anyone would have a weight issue..because when u care about someone or something...u do the best to make sure that is protected n cared for....GO OPRAH GO...FOR BEING U :) n being human!

i just went to look and from the sound of it, her plan is to get organized, control her schedule, and do what all of us are doing without any personal assistants

though we DO have this site
