Go Orange!!!!!  Orange is THE color!!! LOL LOL

Although I've been a member at CC for a long time, I've been inactive and always had excuses for why I couldn't truly commit to working at "tossing" my unwanted weight.

However, about 6 months ago, I got a little personal (always-attached-to-me) conscience.... called a pedometer.  It's just a very basic model (under $20) but it is a great motivator.  I've made 10,000 daily steps my objective.  If/when I go to bed with less then that, I feel guilty because I know I didn't do my best that day.

My pedometer also recognizes steps that are more "aerobic" and will burn more calories then just a regular step.  Therefore, the calories burned (as indicated on the pedometer) at the end of the day is much more accurate then just adding up how many minutes of exercise.

I've tried every diet known to man-kind... some worked for while but ultimately, I would always gain all the weight back PLUS SOME.

For me, the only thing that works is commited loyality to a daily exercise program (i.e. 10,000 steps/day) and ensuring that I keep my caloric intake to about 700-1000 less then my burn for the day (depending on my activity for the day).

My little "conscience meter" is doing a great job in keeping me accountable.  Anybody wanna join me in doing 10,000 steps/day?  I'd love to have a buddy.

Anyways, good luck ORANGE!  Let's do it!

Jo

Hi Jo,

I would love the challenge! How about starting tomorrow? I will dig out my pedometer and place it on my hip in the morning. I came in second on the BLC 9..not too shabby if I don't say so myself!!

So, I am going to make this challenge the one that gets and keeps me under 220. Smile

Go Orange!!

Lory

Ooooooooooooooooooooh sooooooooooo kewl!!!!!

Congrats on placing 2nd!!!!!  That's truly awesome!!!!  Good job!!!!  Wow!!!

I am sooooooooo excited!  TY for being my buddy.

I need a buddy to challenge me when I start to lose my motivation.  This is great.

I didn't quite make my 10,000 steps today.  I only made it to 9,500 with only about 6,400 of them being aerobic.

Now if I'd had a buddy to talk me through it, lol lol lol..... I'd probably have finished the other 500 missing steps.

Anyways, tomorrow is another day.

Let's do it Lory!!!!  Between the 2 of us we'll hit 20,000 steps tomorrow, ok?

Hey y'all.... anybody else wanna join us?  Let's make it 30,000 steps or even 40,000 steps or even more.

Hey we should start a club to see how many steps we could finish in a month.  That would be kewl!

Oh well, it's bedtime for me.  G'nite.  See y'all tomorrow.

Jo

You guys are going down!!! Blue is gonna win!

heheheheheheheehehehehhe--- evil huh???  Let the sabotage begin-- chocolate, cake and pie ..oh my!!!!

HI LORY!!

Kat

Hi Everyone!

I too have been on this site for about a year and haven't really done much with it, but now I really need something to keep me focused.

I have always been slender since a little girl, but all of a sudden one day I woke up and I can't just eat whatever I want anymore...I knew this day would come, but it is kind of hard for me.  I took some time off from my running and let bad foods into my diet and gained 13 pounds in about 3 months....oh dear.  I started running again, but I can feel the extra weight on my ankles and knees and I have this new "bounce" in my butt....awesome.

I had a black tie affair last night and over indulged and now I am working a 24 hour shift so here's to Monday starting off a better day!

PS blue is so not going to win this!

Wendy

Hi everyone!

I joined CC about 1 1/2 years ago and did pretty good for the first 6 months or so then kind of fell off the wagon. Then at the end of December I made the traditional New Years resolution to lose weight /get healthier.  My goal is to lose 30 lbs by the end of 2009. If Ilose more that would be great but if I can lose 30 pounds that will put me at a weight I haven't seen in almost 14 years. Plus I know that slow and steady and making small changes in my lifestyle is the way to go so that I can keep the weight off.

Since January I've already lost 10 lbs, so another 20 to go before I revamp my goal for the year.

Mostly I try to set small challenges to work on each month and during March they are to continue getting 64 oz of water a day, doing 1250 minutes of exercise for the month, getting in a minimum of 7 servings of fruits/vegetables a month and to quit smoking.  So far I'm doing pretty good. I'm on day 13 of being smoke free and am please to say that so far I've managed to lose 1/2 lb.

Jo: I use a pedometer also (or at least when I remember to wear it) and will join you in the walking challenge although I my goal is to get 5000 steps in addition to doing at least 35 minutes on my exercise bike.  But with the warming weather hopefully I can start getting outside for a walk as well in the evenings.

Go Orange!

Hey Augette...

Wow, you're really on a roll!!!  That's awesome!!! Keep it up!  You're doing well.

Come on and join us with your pedometer.  That's kewl!!!  We now have 3 "pedomites"  lol lol  hmmmm, I don't know if that's a word.... lol lol

Let us know how you're doing at the end of the day.  This is great!

Go ORANGE- Yahooooooooooooo

Jo

Hi Everyone, I'm orange too!

This is the first game or challenge I've done on the site!

Basically, I lost about 60lbs then managed to put 50 of those back on.  Awesome huh?  Tongue out NOT.

Anyways, hoping this challenge gets me motivated!!!

Hey Orange - I am looking forward to this challenge.

I dropped 30 pounds last year on WW, and decided I didn't want to pay anymore so I joined CC.  I did put about 8 pounds back on and have lost only 3 of that since joining CC.

My goal for the year is to lose another 30 pounds.

Lets go orange.

Hello everybody in Team Orange,

My first challenge but I'll try not to let you all down!!

I really ought to get a pedometer aswell, if only because I spend all day walking round London and it would be interesting to see how far I go!

Good Luck all xxx

Hey ktg72...

We'd love to have you join the "Orange Pedomites."  LOL, I think we need to find a better name.  "Pedomites" sounds too much like a bug.... and I hate bugs.... :-)

Anybody got ideas?

Anyways, ktg72, you're more then welcome to join in.

I think that Orange is gonna win because we are THE BEST team.

Go Orange.

Jo

Well,

I did 3200 steps yesterday, not the 10,000 I was aiming for.Today is another day. Being out of the office for 2 weeks left me ties to the computer for the 10 hours.

Well until tonight orange pedomites.. TATA

I'm in the UK too! :) Not in London though, about 45 min above by train, in a tiny village above north of Luton...

Hey y'all...

Hey Lory - you did really well on your pedometer.  Keep up the great work.  It will make a difference.... it only takes a while.  But then, slowly taking weight off is better because it will stay off longer.

I've been using my pedometer to keep me on track as well.  My objective is 10,000 steps/day (that's about 5 miles).  I've had some interruptions this week, so my steps are all over the place - but they kinda average out at about 10,000/day.

Approx 2000 steps = 1 mile
Mar 3/09:  11,108 steps
Mar 4/09:  9,061 steps
Mar 5/09:  5,044 steps
Mar 6/09:  29,034 steps
Mar 7/09:  6,750 steps
Mar 8/09:  9,587 steps
Mar 9/09:  4,032 steps
Mar 10/09:  18,015 steps (and still counting)

The best part in all this is it adds up to weight "tossed!"  I haven't been able to "toss" any weight for many years and this is really helping me.  I just have to stay focused and committed to doing it daily and not lose motivation.

To help keep me motivated to doing my 10,000 steps, I joined a "virtual walk" across the Pacific coast.  It demands an average of just over 10k steps a day.

The link is:  http://aom2.americaonthemove.org/Home.aspx

You have to register (free) before they show you the available trails.  There are short ones with only about 4000 steps/day and also trails with more steps (for joggers.)

Anyways, that's all the info from me today.

Happy walking y'all..... and GO ORANGE!!!! YA ORANGE!!!! WE CAN DO IT!!!!!

Not anywhere near Flitwick are you? One of my old housemates from uni lives round there :)

Well everyone, my main issue today seems to have been bread, toast for breakfast and rolls at lunch (all white)! I've got some nice leftovers from tonights very healthy chicken and veg casserole type thing to have tomorrow tho Cool

I've done pretty good with my steps this week.  My goal is to average 5000 steps a day in addition to 35 minutes on my exercise bike.

Mar 10 - 4535 (and counting)
Mar 9   - 7344
Mar 8   - 3945
Mar 7   - 9469
Mar 6   - 8692
Mar 5   - 4624
Mar 4   - 5991
Mar 3   - 8571

WOW I've done over 52000 steps this week and averaged just over 7500!Laughing

Jo: Thanks for the link. I'll check it out. I like the idea of taking the "virtual walk" across the country.  I may try that with my exercise bike as well.  I can map out my trip across the country.  Thanks for the idea and the motivation to keep up my biking (I've been slacking lately).

Well, tomorrow is weigh in day for me so I've got my fingers crossed that I'm down.  I had made very poor food choices today.  Breakfast/lunch were fine but dinner was  a whopper & fries from Burger King as we hurried from work to get to my son's Math Bowl competition (his team placed 3). I'm still well under my calories and my sodium isn't too high so there's a chance that I didn't blow everything.

Wow Augette!!!!  You did terrific!  Keep up the great stepping!

Secondly, congrats on a great game!

Thirdly, good job in keeping an eye on your calories.

Fantastic job today!  Keep up the good work!

Let us know how the weigh in goes in the morning!  I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Keep on stepping and the weight has no choice but to drop off a little at a time.

Jo

ok, Lory let the games begin! Just because I am on the pink team doesn't mean I can't play dirty too!

drops off a few donut holes smothered in chocolate! Just for you sweetheart!

Papa

P.S. By the way, you look awesome standing there by your newest military man!

Evening my Orange team mates!

Today's steps totalled 4700. Tomorrow I am headed to the gym after work now that I am feeling better. I am looking forward to getting back into my routine and moving toward the wedding in May!

For those of you that do not know me from last challenge, my oldest son is currently deployed in Iraq and headed home in a few weeks. May 23rd he will be getting married. My goal is to feel my best at his wedding; dance with my son and not feel like the 10,000 pound elephant in the corner.

All I know is that we have the strength within us to do anything we set our minds to... my initial goal was to drop 30 pounds by the time of his wedding. With the help of CC I have dropped 20 pounds so far. I am 10 pounds from that goal with 10 weeks give or take to make that goal. I know I can reach that and then some. I also have made it a commitment to have a serving of vegatables and  2 glasses of water with every meal. This has helped me feel full and SLOW down when I am hungry.

What are some goals for each of you for this month?

Lory

Wow Lory.... my hat's off to you!  You are doing soooooooooo well!  Keep up the good work!

Jo
