This might be a silly question, but hey -- I got nothin' to lose. I frequently eat oranges and I like to peel the orange the night before I plan on eating it and put it in a baggie in the fridge, just because it's more convenient (not sure why...). Is it ok to actually pull the segments apart, or will that "ruin" the orange? I've never had any problems leaving it in the fridge overnight without the peel on it. I ask because I will be taking my orange with me to work tomorrow, and I like to weigh my orange without the middle part - you know that big piece that at the bottom/middle of the orange, and that usually takes off a significant amount of weight. Do I make sense at all?

All that's going to happen to a peeled orange is that it risks drying out.  If it's in an airtight bag that won't happen.

I don't think anything will happen to the orange pieces. Just don't expose them to the other foods in the fridge.
