Edmonton, AB! My boyfriend is originally from Victoria, I've been out there a few times to visit his parents. Great city.
Toronto, ON. I'd love to go to Victoria B.C.  hear it's beutiful there.
I'm in Vancouver BC - just a ferry ride away :-)
Nice to meet all of you! :)
I am from Edmonton - originally from the beautiful Okanagan (Osoyoos) and went to university in Victoria - absolutely love it there!  The culture and art are amazing!
I'm from Squamish BC, just in between Vancouver and Whistler

Welcome!
Yay!  More people on my side of the country.  Last time some one posted a thread about this everyone was from Toronto :-)
Hey fellow Canadianites!!!  I'm from Ontario; but, doing the long-distance thing (sheesh, I never do anything normal) and dating a guy in BC, so I get to frequent that awesome province every other month!!!!

You guys have the best mountains, views, backpacking, trails, and all that stuff I've ever come across!!!!

And as for smassey in Squamish...how I love Girabaldi Lake!!!!!!

Oh, and "hi" to everyone else as well...I too was wondering if there were any other Canadians out there!!!
Hi Firefightra!  That's got to be tough dating someone on the other side of the country.  I used to work in the Canadian embassy over in Eurpoe.  People would phone me up and ask about how long it would take for them to see PEI then Ontario and BC by car.  They were all quite puzzled to find out that their one week vaction wouldn't be long enough, and even more confused to realize that there are several different time zones accross the country :-)

If you're a skier, it looks like spring sking will be good this year.  It's snowing right now (I had to check and see if it was April Fool's day when I looked out the window this morning!).
Yeah, I just talked to my boyfriend and he said that they got snow yesterday and today!  What the heck is going on...I'm in Ontario and we have had barely any snow!

Too funny about the "week-long trips to see Canada!!!"  I bet they thought that most of us travelled on dog-sled as well!!!

I'm back out to BC in April and we're already planning on snowboarding again.  Hopefully in Whistler if I get my way! ;)
Yay!  The sun is up and the snow is melting away again :-)  Don't worry the snow on the mountains is still sticking nicely.

It constantly amazes me what garbage people believe about Canada.  I went home for a summer holiday (to Ottawa back then) and when I came back all tanned every one was amazed to learn I'd been in Canada.  They seemed to think we all lived in the permafrost :-)

I'm not a snow boarder but Whistler is awesome.  I'd say you have to convince him to go up there.  Or you could always try surfing out in Tofino on the island if you want a totally different holiday.

Maybe I should work for the tourist's bureau ;->
From London, Ontario here.

The snow is all gone-now we just need some sunshine here to warm us up.

^_^
Hey avantslot! It's been snowing over here in Victoria too!  I love it!  I grew up in PG and not quite used to the winters down here yet, it was nice to see it falling!
Funny thing is I moved out from Ottawa 8 years ago after the nasty ice
storm to avoid snow and ice (had enough when I nearly got killed by a
hydro line falling only a few feet away from me) :-)  I like it up
on the mountains and at Christmas time only.  The rest of the time
I don't miss it much.
Oh don't worry avantslot...it won't take much convincing to get him to go to Whistler!  He just went snowboarding there a couple of days ago...and told me how his last run took him 45 minutes to get down the mountain!  I was green with envy!!!  The longest run here in Ontario takes about 4 minutes!!!  So he says we'll go snowboarding when I get down.  It's a pretty expensive day; but, ah heck...you can't take it with you, eh???

And funny you mentioned Tofino!  We headed up to Tofino the when I was down there last in February!  We were hoping to see some wicked winds like they were having a couple days ago; but, the winds had died down when we got there.  However, there were still enough winds to see the ocean swell and crash against the rocks.  What we did see on the way down was a bungee jumping bridge...where people could bungee-jump naked for 10 bucks!  It occurs only once a year and happened on Valentine's Day weekend.  We didnt' jump; but, were allowed to go in as spectators.  It was cold that day and some of the nudies could attest to that.  Too funny!!!

So you're not a snowboarder...but, are you a backpacker???
