I am starting today on my quest to be fit and healthy on my big day, 07/07/07 (and beyond......)  I am 5'4", 155lbs (BMI is 26.6, need to get to at least 25).  My target weight is 135.  I bought the book "Buff Brides" and it has great exercices and weight loss tips.  I plan to start my workout program tonight.

Any other future brides here that would like a diet buddy?

I'm a future bride, too! I'm getting married 06/09/07...I like your wedding date, though! I'm currently 5'7" and 140-145lbs, depending on whether or not it's the holidays ;-). My bodyfat percentage is 20% (I work in a fitness club and have daily access to bodyfat measurers, which rocks). I'd love to take my health and my fitness to the next level and work on 'cutting' as they call it in the bodybuilding world (or is it shredding...?) . Basically, I want to get down to like 15% bodyfat and increase my athleticism, I don't really care if the weight changes. I want to better my sports performance with tae kwon do, and I'm sure these things won't do anything but make me look better for the big day!

Good luck! We both have roughly the same amount of time! What kind of program are you going to start? Details!
I am too! Shell- I looked at your site... it's beautiful! And you have wonderful looking children! I've been engaged for almost a year now (Jan. 14, 2006).  However, we're not getting married until summer of 2008.  We had to move to New York for my Music Therapy internship... so it was a huge expense.  Plus, I don't have any parents to help with the cost... so we're on our own (mostly).  I started losing weight Oct. 6th, 2006... I started at 153 lbs. in a size 12! Currently, I'm 134 and in a size 8! I look good, I feel good! And I'm trying to lose about 18 more pounds to be perfect! I'm trying to look good by this summer... I want a bikini more than anything. I tried one on the other day (it looked terrible! I had a huge fat roll hanging over and my thunder thighs didn't look that good (plus I'm very short- 5'1 feet and have huge size D boobs...) So I  don't fit into any top unless it's an extra large.  Sometimes I wish I had fake boobs to hold them up... natural just sag down so much =P I wish you both luck in your weight loss success.  One of my friends is getting married on your same day, Shell. They hope it will be lucky too!

Best wishes-
Kelly
Shakti, I am planning on keeping my calories at 1500.  Cardio at least 30 minutes 4-5 days a week (walking and cycling....I'm not a runner AT ALL)!  I am also going to follow the Buff Brides workout, which has what I consider easy exercises and incorporates hand and ankle weights, as well as a fitness ball.  Those target the core and upper body mostly, with some lower body exercises.  That workout is done 3-4 times a week.

Kwietro, glad you liked the website, I worked hard on it.  I am so proud of my son and my future step-son  :-)  My fiancee is working hard to get fit, too (he signed up on the site, too).  It's nice that we are both going to get through this together.

Congrats to you both....2007 is going to be a LUCKY year!  Keep in touch on your progess!
Congrats on your wedding! Im getting married too! 05/19/07..i cant wait. Although my total motivation for loosing weight isnt my wedding..but its sort of a perk. Im just trying to get healthy. I believe that most of my aches and pains are because of my lack of exercise and motivation..which with me go hand and hand. I know that we will all reach our goals. I cant wait to go back and try my wedding dress back on.
Hi Ladies,  I'm getting married 5-25-07 and though i am soo excited, the thought of being in front of everyone and looking at the photos for the rest of my life is a little daunting.  i'm 5'6-5'7" and currently at 155.  My future husband assures me that he loves me the way i am, but between my hectic work schedule and the excitement of wedding plans, i'm so exhausted.  i know my body is telling me it is time for change.

my goal is somewhere between 120-130 -  more than more college 115, but still a lot to lose.  any suggestions, motivation will be totally appreciated!

i want to hear everyone's plans - both health and wedding!

pics soon!
I'm getting married in April. Guess I should go make some wedding plans; so far, all we have is the place for the ceremony and reception, and nothing else!
hey! i'm getting married 5/19/07 too! i am mostly interested in staying healthy rather than losing weight. i feel the best when i eat right and exercise. i am happy at my weight i just need to tone up a good bit. congrats to y'all!
Oh wow, shellevans! You could be me! My wedding day is also 7-7-07, my height is 5'4" and I weigh 150. I'd like to get down to 130! I was 161 when I started, but I really want to get those 20 pounds off! I go to Weight Watchers and Curves and I try to run. I want to look for that book! Where are ya from?

Mary
Hi everyone!  I am also a bride to be.  I've been engaged since February of 2005, so it will be nice to be finally married.  I went for the second fitting of my dress and the zipper wouldn't go all the way up.  That's when I knew that I needed to seriously address the 15 lbs I had gained since I started working.  I am 5'10" and 170 lbs right now and would like to return to 155.  I take a volleyball class 2X a week, swim 2X a week and go to the gym 2X a week, with one cheat day.  I am hoping to get in better cardio shape and build some muscle.  I wish the deadline were September (my wedding), but I am a maid of honor in my best friend's wedding in July (ack!).  So, best of luck to you guys, lets do this together!
I am on the quest to loose the weight before my wedding also.  My name is Deann. My wedding date is Aug 4,2007. I am about 5'5" and 165 lbs. I want to be 135 but we will see. It is so hard for me. THe only thing that is really keeping me motivated is the fact the my fiance is on the same quest. We have 4 kids between the 2 of us and both work full time so getting to the gym has always been an issue. We just joined a great new gym in our area and he has a personal trainer.  Food is our issue. I love to cook and he loves to eat. I would love some support from other brides!!! I count calories daily.  I write down in a notebook everything I eat anddrink that has calories. I bought a great book called "The calorie king, Calorie, fat, and Carbohydrate counter" I keep one at home and one at work. It is great. Good luck and let me know what works for you.
Congrats to all the other future brides!  Glad to have a bride network to be in!  :-)  I really do recommend Buff Brides....the exercises are quick and so easy to do at home.  You can find it just about anywhere (including ebay).  I bought it at Barnes and Noble.

I'm curious what everyone is doing as far as cardio?  Do you work out everyday or take a "breather" day?  Buff Brides says to take a day or two off every week, but I'm doing at least 25 minutes every day (walk, bike, elliptical machine, etc).

Mary, that's crazy....we're twins!  ha!  I live in Southern New Mexico (Las Cruces).  My job brought me here....but I'm a Texan at heart!

Keep it up gals....we're going to be BEAUTIFUL BRIDES!
My wedding is 08-18-07. I sarted a fitness program dong cardio every other day and weight training every other day. With one or two days rest. I am looking to tone up and shed some pounds. My biggest fear is trying on wedding gowns !

Hello there! I am also on my way to getting into shape for my wedding day -- 09-15-07.  I am 5'4 and 147 lbs.  I just bought a treadmill since I was completely fed up with my current gym membership and I love to run.  How is the Buff Brides book?  I havent seen it yet, but if it is highly recommended I will buy it!

Any diet tips to share?
My friend got the Buff Brides book when she got engaged and within 3 weeks of following it, you could see a really noticeable difference in her tone and shape.

Hi there!  I too am a future bride, 10-27-07 and am trying to get in shape not just for the wedding but for overall health.  Iam 5'6 156 lbs. and can't seem to get down any further than 154 lb.  I want to get back to 130.  I have been exercising, first goal is to do at least 30 minutes 3x's a week and increase once I can get consistent.  I have started running (jogging/walking) trying to build up to being able to actually jog/run without having to stop.  I haven't heard of the Buff Brides book, is it good?

I would love a diet buddy!  I get so upset when I don't see results quickly!
Hello all brides and congrats on your upcoming weddings!!!!!

I got married last April & I have to warn you- watch out for the months that follow the wedding.  I started to cook (and eat big portions of) all of my new hubby's fav foods and gained a lot of weight.

I'm losing it now, but I just wanted to warn you not to throw away all of your weight-loss progress after the big day.  Us women can not eat like men.

Good luck to all of you!  I hope your big days turn out wonderful!!!
I am doing the Buff Brides work out from the current issue of Modern Bride. I have noticed in two weeks that the muscles I already have are beginning to become more defined ! It guarentees that if you do the exercises three times a week , you will see results. Diet wise- make sure you are eating fruit with breakfast and salad/veggies at lunch and dinner. Focus on good protiens and stay away from processed foods, and bad carbs- go for the whole grains ! Occasional cocktaqils are OK, just watch the mixed sugary drinks. WE CAN DO IT GUYS !!!!!

I like the book because it has sections in there to target the areas brides worry about.  I do much better when I have a program laid out for me, and the book does just that.  It has a program for brides who are 24 weeks away from the wedding (which I am), or a "crash course" for those who are only 12 weeks away.  It tells you week by week, day by day, the exercises you are to do.  There is also a Buff Brides DVD, but I haven't tried that yet.   Cool thing is, you don't have to be a "bride"....this book is great for EVERYONE!

I'm only a week in, and...I might be crazy, but I can already tell that I'm firming up....especially in my mid-section!  Woo hoo!

I'm getting married 7-7-07 too.  My fiance and I are both trying to get in better shape for the wedding and afterwards.  We're trying to watch what we eat and not overdue it.  I just want to feel better.  I also don't want to get a new wardrobe which is getting close if I don't tone up a little.  I'll take a look at the Buff Brides book and see how it goes.
