Are there others here that have hypothyroid disease and if so do you find that you have lost weight at the rate figured with the tools provided? Or do you have to go a little lower with calories & or burn more to lose?

I do have experience with having a slower metabolism. Sometimes it does involve lowing your intake, but not too much, you shouldnt be lacking nutrition. do u take a pill for it?
I have used synthoid & cytomel combo in the past and currently use armour (more natural). I have testing on a Dr. recommended basis.

i'm hypothyroid!! I have lost weight for the first time in over 5 years! They finally got my synthroid right and it's really working for me. Before i was medicated though i really had no ability to lose weight.. 1200 cal a day and still gained weight doing that for 3 months! I'm currently doing 1200 again and exercising every other day.. i have lost 22 lbs in one month of doing this.. so it is possible

congrats on the weight loss. Do you think the 'eat meter' helped? I *really * like that feature. I can double check on my total calories by just jiggling the mouse over it even when DH is using the computer. I know it takes a little more effort and of course the right dose of meds to lose with hypo, but it can be done.
I have lost on low carb only diets but it comes back easily and my body needs the healthy carbs to function properly. I think using this site will help so much with counting calories eliminating the part that I hate so much --writing them down thumbing thru a big awkward book, then adding them up.

Hi,
I've been hypothyroid since age 10-ish. I started out on Armour thyroid but a new doctor insisted on switching me to Synthroid around age 29. Once he found the right dosage, it has been well regulated. The dose had to be increased about 3 years ago. But this week I asked to be switched back to the Armour and will go back next month for blood tests again. As for weight loss, I never had a problem losing weight until now. But I don't know if it is the hypothyroidism going out of whack or just my age (44). Everyone is saying the weight is not coming off that fast solely due to my age. Oh well. For the record, I've been bicycling 5 days a week and sticking to a 1500 calorie/day diet and have only lost about 5 lbs. Compared to when I was in my 20s, this is PAINFULLY slow!

PS~
Forget to say that I've been bicycling and dieting for 6 weeks now, and only lost 5 lbs. And bicycling HARD....for like 30-60 minutes each time. And yet I still have a tire around the middle....which I never had until I passed my 42nd birthday.
