Any other mom’s interested in an accountability group?

Quote  |  Reply

Hello!  I’m looking for a small groups of mom’s like myself who would be interested in starting a group to hold ourselves accountable.  I’m thinking weekly weigh-ins (maybe naming a 1st place winner for most pounds lost during the week, no prize money involved of course just the satisfaction of losing the most weight ;o).  And maybe we could also post our average daily calorie count each week to hold each other accountable for that too.  I’m open to all ideas!  I just know the best way for me to resist temptation is knowing I have someone out there to report to.  And it would be great to get ideas and inspiration from other women facing the same challenges that I am.

A little about me, I’m 28, married, two children ages 4 and 2.  I work fulltime so finding time to workout and eat healthy is my greatest challenge.  I currently weigh 180lbs (the highest I’ve ever been) and my ultimate goal weight is around 135.

So let me know if you’re interested, I look forward to hearing from you!

Hi Momto1pink1blue! Im so in! I am a new mommy my dd will be 10 months on the 5th and I am trying to desperately lose this weight! I am currently 157.5. My highest prepreg was 155 which means im back to normal right? wrong.. at that weight I used to be a size 8 because I had alot of muscle mass, During th e preg I was very sick and lost alot of muscle mass and gained ALOT of fat! after giving birth I was 187! YIKES and a size 14! I am currently a size 12... I want to be a size 6... I am thinking I need to be between 125 and 135!

my goals are 145 by Oct 5th(1 year)

135 by feb 2010

125 by June 2010

Today I did aprx 1200-1300 cal and burned 2500 cal! I did a half hour walk and worked out with EA active for 20 min! how about you?

Wow you burned a lot of calories yesterday, nice job!!  When do you find the time to workout?  I have been waking up at 5:30am and using my elliptical machine for 1/2 hour.  Yesterday I overslept but I still got in a 1/2 hour walk on my lunch break.  My calories were awful yesterday though, I was doing great until dinner time when my husband brought home Chinese food, sweet and sour chicken, pork fried rice and cream cheese won-tons.  I almost screamed when I logged in those calories!!!  I hate that I have a high calorie count to report to you today so I'm already motivated to have a lower calorie total next time I check in, gotta love accountability!  Especially with the weekend coming up.

Hopefully we'll get some more mom's to join us!  What day works for you to start weekly weigh-ins?

I am in to! So heres my little story. I am 25 I have a 14 month old daughter. Prepregnancy I weighed 135...not great but not to bad either. After I had her my gallbladder just quit working I got very sick and got pretty skinny. Then when my gallbladder was taken out I gained everything I lost back and plus some. So now I am sitting at 160. I am eating 1200 calories a day and doing resistance training everyday now...Any day is fine with me to weight in. I get on here everyday now.

Hi Ladies!  Happy Monday, I hope you all had a great weekend!  I did ok over the weekend, not great, but not too bad considering we went out to eat 3 times and went to a major league baseball game on Saturday night.  I made the healthiest choices I could and refrained from eating until I was so full I felt sick, so I’m pretty happy with that.  I plan to weigh myself tomorrow, do Tuesdays work for you for weigh-in day?  The only reason I picked that is because last Tuesday was the last time I weighed myself (I don’t have a scale yet at home so I’m using one at work) but we can certainly change it if that doesn’t work for you.

I’m thinking maybe I’ll put a post in the “munchkin’s” group and see if there are any other mom’s that would like to join our group.  Or if you have friends who you think would like to join please invite them!  I think this group is already helping me because I know I was thinking about you guys when I was deciding what to eat over the weekend!

Oh, and I used my elliptical for 45 minutes this morning!  Usually I only do 30, but I woke up early today because I noticed there was a light on in the hallway, when I went to investigate, I found that my 4-year-old must have woke up in the middle of the night to go potty and then went back to sleep in her OWN bed!  I was so excited I couldn’t go back to sleep so I decided to add an extra 15 minutes to my workout Laughing

I am currently doing an accountability challenge at work, but would love to expand it this this group  I am not having success with the work contest and I am thinking maybe it is because the same folks have been doing it with me for a year now.  I believe by joining your group I could bridge ideas from work to here and visa versa.

I too have a goal weight of 135 and am currently at 189!  Don't really know how I got here.  Just woke up one morning and my mother was staring back at me in the mirror.  I have been fighting this weight for over 7 years and gain back more then I lose on any diet.  I am trying to make lifestyle changes but they seem to be short lived (say after a couple of months or so).  If this group gets off the ground, count me in as an active member...for the long term.  I have decided that I just can't rest after a couple of months..that I have to continue to lose.  With support and accountabilty like this how can I lose?

I would love to join....I'm a 44 year old mother of an 8 year old son. Currently I weight 172.5 and my goal is 135 (according to this site for March 2010). My family is going on our first trip to Hawaii at the end of October and I would love to drop many pounds before then. I need to buy a bathing suit and refuse to do it until closer to the travel date - hoping to drop at least 10 pounds by then.

My issue is that I get going and behaving and then I drop off the wagon...so I need to be accountable to a group as well.....like a check in/weigh in at the weight centre. I was with LAWL but found I was spending money on bars and not really going anywhere. Now I have the tools/info and the ability to work out so I'm pushing myself to a happy healthier person.

Let me know and I'm in! Go Moms Go! We're strong enough to carry a baby for 9 months, give birth and survive the first year with minimum sleep so we CAN do this!

Tuesday work for me! I weight myself at work so if we do decide to change it can we please make it a weekday? I also did decent this weekend. The worse thing I ate was chips and salsa and I had about 2 servings oppose to half the bag. So for me thats pretty good. I worked out Saturday but I did not yesterday. I took my daughter to the park so I felt like that could be my exercise.  Im glad to see more people are joining the group. Cant wait to hear back from you ladies. It sure is nice to have some accountability!

I would also love to be a part of this group.  I had visions of being so much slimmer by the end of the summer.  Well, the end is coming faster and faster.  I get started on a healthier eating plan and then I just fall off the wagon.  I am now the heaviest I have EVER been.  I am 182 and I would like to be 135.  I have 2 boys ages 4 and almost 6.  I work part-time as a school psychologist.  I know a lot of my issues are in my head...yes I analyze myself all the time.  I just can't get beyond my love and cravings for sugar.  Good luck to everyone.  I am trying the Shaklee Cinch program.

Yay!!!  So happy to see other mom's who are interested.  I think for now we can just post our weight on this thread, and then as we get going maybe I'll create a private group for all of us (I'm still figuring out this website too but I think we've got a great start!).

So if it's alright with all of you, plan to post your official starting weight TOMORROW!  I think it would also be good to post what your calorie count goal is (1200/day, etc) and then next week we can post what our average daily calorie count for the week was for added accountability.

Talk to you tomorrow ladies!!

I am all for making my numbers public...the only way to be truly accountable, right?  So here goes.  Currently I am at 189 lbs.  My goal is 135 (but will settle for 140 Laughing) and my target calorie intake is 1200/day.  From reading other posts here, we are all basically in the same boat with same goals in mind.  I am very excited about this.

Let's get to losin'

Sure, I would love to join! Here is my story: I was always fairly skinny growing up with my weight fluctuatiing up and down about 20-30 lbs, but only once reaching outside of my normal weight range for my height. That all changed when I quit smoking at 21 years old and gained 30 lbs within just a few short months by not exercising and eating ALOT of sweets. I got married, had kids, and saw my weight balloon up to 227 during my second pregnancy! I felt horrible, and decided the day I had my son I was going to start doing everything possible to lose. Well, the first 50 lbs  including the babyweight, came off with little effort, maybe exercising 20-30 minutes a day 4-5 days a week, and eating about 2000 calories, but after that, the real struggle came. I have been uping the exercise times, but staying about the same with calories for the most part since. I have since the first initial weight loss seen an additional 22lbs with a weight of 155 and 22 lbs left to lose to be back at my "ideal" weight. I just started on this website, and I have now decreased my caloric intake to 1263 with probably a fluctuation of 100-200 calories each day, but I hope to lose the last of my weight by October 19. Its a little hard to lose since I've been carrying this weight so long and have been dieting and exercising for 2 years straight, but I am hoping with persistance, I can lose the rest by my desired date, (in time for fittings to be done for my bestfriends wedding!!) Anyways, I wish all of you the BEST OF LUCK AND WISDOM in your diets and know that if we hold eachother accountable, we can achieve whatever we want. See ya soon, I gotta go check on my turkey burger.

I would love to be part of your group.  I am about to be 42.  I am the mom of 1.  My daughter is moving to college in a couple of weeks.  I weigh now more than I weighed when I had her.  My weight on 7/30 was 174.  I weighed 109 when I got pregnant, and have been up, up, up and away ever since.  I have no desire to be 109 or even 120, but 130 would be great!  I am aiming for a calorie intake of 1200-1500.   My exercise has been sketchy at best.  I have walked the dog 30 minutes each day since I started on the 30th, I even walked once today without him.  I work full time 3-12 hour shifts/week.  So really there is no excuse for me being as lazy as I have.  I started back to school this summer also.  I look forward to chatting with you all, and I think this is a great way to be held accountable for my actions.   Oh and I got my cholesterol scores back today, lets say I am a walking heart attack.

Hello! If its not to late to joing I would love to be a part of this group. I started using CC 3 weeks ago and that is how long ive been on a diet. I started at 185 pounds and im currently at 177. My ideal weight is 130. I was always very thin till I got pregnant I gained 20 pounds with my first and kept the weight till i got pregnant again and gained another 30 pounds. Ive done all the crash diets and crazy diets available but always put the weight back. This is the first time I try dieting by counting my calories and eating healthier even if it takes longer. My turning point was while visiting the cardiologist with my grandmom. The dr. told her that her heart conditions among other illnesses were greatly due to her obesisty. She is 88 years old and weighs 220lbs. the dr. told her that it was not right for any person to reach their old age at such a weight. It was horrible to hear that, I love my grandma and feel for her when she hurts and I know her old age would be much easier if she didnt have that weight. That day I decided I wouldnt make the same mistake (I have her big bone structure). Ive been very good these past weeks but I think this group will help me keep the momentum and not give up.

My hardest part has been the excercise, i cant seem to put it in my schedule but im trying to start with 3 times a week.

I also had a question if anyone can help. According to CC I should consume 1300 calories a day, sometime I dont even make it to 1000. Is that bad? Or is it ok if I consume less? Today I only did 700.

Thank you and looking forward to sheding the pounds with all of you

dvs you should try to get at least 1200 calories a day. If you are at the end of the day and see that you still need to eat a couple hundred calories to get to 1200 eat some cheese or peanutbutter...something like that. High in calories but still has nutritional value.Your body needs 1200 calories just to function, you will lose weight eating very little calories but it wont stick and you will be loosing muscle not fat. You will read this over and over again all over this web site its fact. But  we are glad to have you and it sounds like you are on the right track!

WOO HOO I've lost 5 pounds since last week!!  I'm sure it's +/- a pound or two because I weighed myself during different times of the day, but still nothing motivates me like seeing that scale move so I'm thrilled!

So today I'm at 175 lbs.  My calorie count goal is 1300/day.

I'm leaving for our lake house tomorrow and will be there until Sunday, so that will definitely be a challenge, we usually eat way too much and totally unhealthy there.  So my goal this week is just to not gain any weight (trying to be realistic).  I'm also going to bring lots of fruit and other healthy snacks with me... I won't deprive myself of the treats, but I don't have to eat SO much of it either if I have healthier options to fill me up.  I'll have my laptop with me though so I can still log on here, maybe seeing the actual calorie count of those treats will be enough to steer me away from them!  I'll probably be checking in with you ladies too ;o)

So best of luck to all of you this week!!  Looking forward to next Tuesday when we'll weigh-in again and post our very first "biggest loser" of the week!

Good Job!!!! I know you are so excited! I lost 3 pounds this week...its not 5 but heck I'm thrilled! Its funny that you are going to the lake, because I am going to the lake this weekend to with my family and they are cajun and eats TONS of fatty food. So I am going to take my own food and take water (oppose to beer) and try and swim for my exercise. Its going to be tough but I think I can do it. I just told my husband how I am so addicted to this site I dont think I could quit if I wanted to. Its kinda fun putting in my food log and activity log everyday. Today the little coach thingy said I should reach my goal weight on May 11th 2010. Thats perfect! Just before summer! Next year I am so wearing a bikini!!!!

hi ladies! its tuesday! wow I almost missed the weigh in... and honestly I didnt forget the I signed up with this but I didnt go anything these past few days! I did great on wed and thurs... half hour walk and 20 min work out with EA active... than Fri at 4am came... IM SICK! uhh fever, soar throat, ear ache, runny noise.. the works! I have a sinus infection... and an ear infection and a 101 fever. Well that was fri

Sat I missed my brother's wedding(devastated is an understatement) but my daughter also is sick with the same thing I have.. and last night was the first night of sleep I got since I woke up sick on friday. I have no good news to report. My cal intake is around 2000... which is maintaining... So I have to say that I am still 157.5! which is good to know that I can maintain my weight while having ice cream every night.. (it helps sooth my throat)

so anyway today I am going to try and get in some sort of a work out. Im still desperately hungry! so I am not dieting but some sort of a work out would be helpful... I will try to be on here more but have been preoccupied ... you ladies have all done so well. I think im gonna go take a nap or something. Talk to you all soon!
