Weight Loss
Moderators: duke3522, devilish_patsy, topanga1485, nycgirl, spoiled_candy, cmillington, coach_k are there others who are losing weight but not looking like it?
i joined c-c at the start of the month, and i've maintained an average of 1300-1400 cals a day plus at least 30mins jogging and 40mins yoga every single day of the week. i have good fat, protein and carb intake - i'm not into fad diets and i don't believe in overconsumption of protein, and i love fruits and i love my salads. i don't normally snack anyway so that wasn't an issue for me.
when i weighed myself after 2 weeks i was shocked to find that i had lost 5kg (11lbs). i panicked because i'm wary of rapid weight loss and i certainly didn't want 10kg more to come back and bite me in the ass with rebound weight gain... i perservered and i'm now about 54 kg (119lbs), nearly 7kg lighter than when i started (my weighing scale was faulty - i started at 61 not 64, but i don't know how to change that initial weight on the profile page). i'm only 158 cm (5"2 i think).
i didn't starve myself, i didn't take weird pills - just monitored my calories and exercised religiously. this in itself has been painstaking - my lifestyle is between sedentary to light but it's very intense and tiring. i barely get 6hrs sleep at night going at this rate, but i'm just trying as hard as i can.
i didn't expect such rapid weight loss but when i looked at the scales i was pleasantly surprised.... then i looked and the mirror and thought - hang on, where did those 7kg go to???
i think my jaw is slightly more defined, and my pants are a BIT looser about the thighs, and my bust has gone down slightly - but that's just me being nitpicky. to be honest my clothes fit exactly the same, and no one has noticed that i've lost weight (not that i've broadcasted my efforts to anyone) - and i do hang about some very observant and sensitive people! not even people who've met me only before this weightloss and once now, have noticed anything different about me. of course at the end of the day i'm doing this for myself, and my health. but who doesn't want to hear at least some positive feedback from others? and today i looked at myself again and realised - i can't find anything different about my body either!!
am i going crazy?? what am i doing wrong?? are there others who are experiencing the same thing??
(it doesn't mean i'm going to give up, but it's frustrating not to be able to see results, if you know what i mean. i don't know if i'm lucky or unlucky not to look different at 61 kg and 54kg. sigh.)

I've lost 8 pounds in a month...133 to 125...and since I've been away at school I couldnt wait to see everyones reaction when I went home last weekend. But nobody said anything!! I see a bit of a difference, but I thought 8 pounds would be more noticable than that..
I think what's happening here is that you're wearing the same clothes. They may feel roomier to you wearing them but, to the casual observer, you don't look any different. They might think something's changed but they can't quite pin down what... Treat yourself to some new clothes that really 'fit' with plenty of tailoring and shape. I lost 50lbs last year but kept some of my stretchy old pants for when I do decorating and gardening. Slipped them on recently, caught a glance at myself in a mirror and it was like I'd regained all 50lbs at a stroke! Straight in the bin.....
So that would be my suggestion. You'll only get that 'Wow don't you look fabulous!' reaction when you emphasise it with your snug new clothes that really show off that nipped-in waist, those snake hips and that reduced bustline! And, while you're at it, how about a new hairstyle to show off the firmer jawline, freshen up the make-up... etc., etc., ? They still might not realise you lost weight but they'll go wild about the new-look you...

Sorry gi-jane no offense meant..... This reminds me so much of the film - Sliding Doors :)
Anyhow...... I have managed to drop 6 lbs, only to be told today that I have `filled out` ho hum...... I am getting upstairs without being out of breath, so that is reassurance enough for me :)

Hi, I've been doing CC for a little over a month now and have lost almost 15 lbs total. I haven't noticed much of a difference in the way I look and nobody else has noticed anything, but I FEEL a lot better, so I know it's working. I read in another post that the first dress size takes awhile to lose, then after that it's pretty quick, so that keeps my hopes up.
If you know you're doing everything right and losing weight at a healthy pace, then I wouldn't worry about it. You see yourself everyday, I bet if you take a picture of yourself now and in a month take another picture of yourself, you will see some changes. Good luck, and great job on the 7kg!

juicy,
this also happened to me. the first two weeks of being in c-c i droped close to 13 pounds. Then, the fourth - fifth week, i didn't even lose one ounce. I was almost getting discouraged, when I weighed today, i was down another 2 pounds.
I think that part of the inital weight loss was water weight. I also realized since I started on c-c, i have cut back on the soft drinks and am drinking more water, so that is also where alot of my weight was coming from.
:D. I started at 312 on september 2, this morning i was 298. That is fourteen pounds in about 5 weeks...it averages out to 2.8 pounds a week.
Just keep at the calorie intake your supposed to be and dont go below it. *just my opinion*
good luck!

It takes time for people to notice, believe me, I know. I've lost over 50 lbs since January and only recently has anyone noticed. Partially it's because most people don't notice small changes, especially those people who see you all the time. Sometimes those who love us don't see the fat, they may acknowledge that we could lose some weight, but they don't see us as fat as we see us. Another thing to consider is, how much overweight are you - if only slightly overweight people may notice you look healthier not skinnier - if you're very overweight(case in point me!)it takes a bigger difference to show. Finally, muscles and body toning takes longer then just dropping fat - and it is what will really show beyond the scale. Keep working at it - it will pay off in compliments someday soon:)
You must be very patient. 11 pounds is not enough for most people to notice. I have lost 27 pounds over the last three months, and it is *only recently* that people have started to notice that I lost weight!
Did you happen to take measurements before you started on the weight loss journey? You may see or feel a slight difference with 11 lbs but I doubt if anyone is going to notice something for at least another 10- 15 lbs loss. I know it wasn't until I lost over 25 lbs that people who saw me daily noticed the loss. And I had to lose a lot more than that before people really started commenting.
I've lost 41 pounds so far, and only two people have commented. (I always lose weight in the summer, so that's what I said to the two who commented.) I'm still wearing mostly the same clothes, though my pants are really baggy and have to be belted to stay up. (I know I've dropped at least two pant sizes, as I have purchased one pair of pants along the way, and that was some pounds ago.)
I'm happy with no comments, actually. I wouldn't want someone to say to me, "Are you gaining weight?," so it seems fair that the converse is something that doesn't need to be said, also. "You look good" is welcome, but "You've lost a ton of weight".... well, that I'd rather not hear!

I know what youe mean, I've lost 13 lbs so far and nobidy has really noticed! My mom and future mother in law did notice but I think that is only because they know I've been working hard at this and I think they just say that to make me feel good. Personally, I've been up and down 40 lbs for the past 4 years or so and people only really notice when I get down around my goal weight.
Heck, I've lost 50 lbs and hardly anyone says anything. There are
plenty of people who have though, so I know it's noticeable. I
have a lot more to go so I can only assume that that's why.
As for people noticing or not...I've found that the people I'm around all the time don't notice a thing. But then I bump into someone I haven't seen in ages and it's all, oh my god you've lost weight!
It's funny though because I can't see it myself as much...I still think I look a bit too fat, but then I tried on my jeans from last September and they were massive. Huh. And my favourite shirt, which had to be retired :(
But it makes me curious because I'm so close to my goal weight - just five or six kilos off - but what if I reach that and still feel like a blimp?!

I have just weighed myself this morning and logged it on here ,after being gone for over a month, and I've lost 11pds. Funny thing is other people have noticed but not my husband. I've heard some people say it is because they see you everyday but others just see you once a week or so.
I agree with gi-jane -- you need new clothes that emphasizes your new shape.
