I've started my diet two weeks ago and joined CC a week ago. It's so good to read others  that has to loose 100 lbs. plus like I need too. I just weighed today after 2 weeks and I lost 21 lbs. I'm so happy I can't believe it. I know 10 or more pounds is probably water from my watching the salt but it sure did look good on the scales. I have such a loooooong way to go. I had to go buy some scales today that could even go up enough to weigh me. I welcome any of you guys to send a message to me. I don't have anyone to talk to about loosing my weight because if I told others that I lost 21 pounds they would just look at me and say where did it go? I am so determine this time to make it work.

I'm still here still plugging along with my plan.  Mnic wow 21lbs that is great! Congrats to you on such a great start.  I have lost 5lbs since I started here at CC and that feels great even if it isn't coming off as fast as I had hoped for it is coming off.  I hope everyone else is having a great week and enjoying their new journey to take off the weight.

Hi sunnyone24, Yes I have been working so hard to get a good start. I've been eating 1200 to 1000 calories a day and others has told me not to go under 1500 or I'll hit a time it won't come off. I have so much to loose I can't even think of it not coming off. My husband is on it with me this time and it is really helping. We was big on eating out, but no more. Unless I can get to a Subway. I bought us several low cal. TV dinners for our fast food in a hurry. I checked out the calories we was eating out at places and the only word comes to mind is SHOCK! I don't know where this Will Power is coming from this time but since June 4th 2008 I haven't cheated once. I bought me some new scales a couple of days ago that will weigh me and I was so excited to see after two weeks I lost 21 pounds. I'm keeping track everyday of my calories and making up new recipes that are legal for my cravings. Like I love mexican... So I fix a legal taco salad with small round bite size chips that I count to make it legal. It takes care of my craving. Now I got to work on my Pizza craving.

Me again!  I would also love to meet people who have already lost a huge amount or are in the middle still striving for that goal!!  Thanks!

Hello all!  I just wanted to chime in.  I had 147 pounds to lose.  I have 35 left to lose.  Please stick with it.  It isn't easy, I can't lie to you about that but it is  possible.  The one thing that kept saving me is knowing that this is a one day at a time learning process.  You have to learn how and what to eat all over again.  As much as you can, try to incorporate the foods you love into your menus.  That might mean that you don't get to eat those foods as often or in the quantity you are used to but know you still can eat it.  I thought I'd never eat pizza again but I learned to work it in as a regular thing.

Remember, it's hardest when you think you can't so make it so you can!  Smile

Mnic you are doing great!  You should be very proud of all of your progress.  I don't know how you manage on 1,000 calories a day girl!   You have some amazing willpower.  Pat yourself on the back!  I noticed we started about the same time from your bio!  I started June 5th.  I have lost 15lbs and I'm so happy with my progress.  I'm really trying to make this my new life and not a diet per say.  I allow myself 2,000 calories a day right now.  So far so good for me....  Have a great holiday!

Valsgoal - wow oh wow its always great to hear that IT can really happen.  I can really lose 100+ pounds.  That people really do do it!!  Thanks for the inspiration for me.  I know that before long we will be hearing about you reaching your goal.  I can't wait!

sunnyone24 I just wrote something on your journal before I read this. That's funny you said the same thing about seeing that we started the same time. I'm going to go back and send you a message just in case you don't come back to this page.

I am 20 and am about 310 pounds with a goal of 140. I've tried diets and exercise but never actually put forth enough effort... and I'm tired of being overweight and unhealthy. My ankles, knees, and back are always in pain... I want to be healthy. I am so glad I found this site. Anyone who wants to add me as a friend can. I would love to have someone to help keep me motivated. We can swap journal comments and keep each other motivated.

Nebby4t and fatteen, You guys are so young and and I know you guys will do great since you found this site. I found it a month ago and I've lost 31 pounds so far. Keep track of what you eat and your calories and write in your journals. That has really helped me to keep focus on it everyday.  It helps with getting support from someone that understands what your going through. I'm so glad I found this site. I've met a lot of people and get a lot of support. Good luck!

Hello, I am up there as well and now it is affecting my health so this will be a do or die efford for me.

I am not looking at the numbers on the scales or tape measure but by things I once could do and no more can. The simple things like walking on sand, going down on my knee's etc, so as I accomplish these small feats I am winning.

Good luck to all who wants their health back and do the simple things in life.

Its so great to have new people in this thread.  I like having people to talk to about my weight loss efforts!  Welcome Jenn, nebby4t,  and itsnowornever.  It sounds like you all are ready to make a change in your life.  That is truely the first step.  I have been at it for a month now myself and have lost 16lbs - yeah!  I'm 6' tall and 368lbs right now so I too have a long journey to reach my goal of 200lbs.  I really just picked a number ....its all so relative right now heck I'd like to be 300lbs-lol!  I would love to hear about your progress!

Hey everyone - it's great to have you on CC! I am sticking my nose into this thread simply to say - don't get discouraged because the total amount that you'd like to lose is high. Someone said they can't focus on that because they want to focus on losing 40 lbs - that's a great strategy, having important "mini-goals" - don't dream of being thin, dream of being under 300 or whatever (250, 350, 400, whatever the closest round number is). Then, once you're there, dream of being under 250 (or equivalent), and repeat as needed. No matter what your weight, losing just 10% of your current weight, and keeping it off, will  improve your health profile and will make your doctors proud. The people who have had success with losing large amounts of weight on CC - there are many of them! check out profiles for duke3522, mollymouser, xstar17x and motivateme320 (couldn't find the links but keep an eye out), kaufmkk, and I'm forgetting the others right this second but there are many more! - have found that taking it one day at a time, one attainable goal at a time, is what keeps us sane. I started out as class 2 obese (BMI 36.5) and am now comfortably in the "overweight" category. Still not thin by any means, but much happier nonetheless. It takes time and it takes a lot of self-love and positive reinforcement. It's a permanent lifestyle change, not a temporary fix - we will never be able to go back to the obese lifestyles we had before, and this can be hard to think about (it was for me) but it's necessary. This doesn't mean that your healthy lifestyle can't include your favourite foods, but as was also pointed out, not in the same quantity and frequency. And that's OK. Living healthily is just as pleasurable (really!). Humans are incredibly adaptable!

Congrats on your losses, everyone! 16 lbs (or 20, etc) is the same accomplishment whether you start at 200 or 400. It's still excellent work! :)

Hi, I just joined last night.  I'd like to lose over a 100.

I'm looking for the day that I drop under 200 and I'm happy to say I'll never get over 300.  My 30th b-day is in 16 months, so losing the weight is going to be my present to myself.

'ello!  :D    I'm going to turn 16 soon and, i'm guilty of having to lose at least 100 pounds.  I currently weigh 280 pounds, but i'm well porportioned.  Someone on YahooAnswers once said though, "You may be well porportioned, but keep in mind each portion is too big."  So i've really stopped using that term...  haha.   If i get down to 180lb, i will FINALLY be in the healthy zone for my height (i'm 6 feet tall)...so when that day comes i will just, well...go crazy.  hah.  I may not have as much weight to lose as you, but i don't have a job to be buying healthy food...  I'll still have what's at home.  So I'm going to do the best i can with what i've got and just exercise exercise exercise..  It IS encouraging though to see that there are so many others trying to lose such a vast amount of weight...

Too bad we can't all go on NBC's The Biggest Loser!  hahaha.   anyway, good luck on your journey.  Feel free to email with tips, stories, and questions.

-Tanner

Welcome Tired and Panic!   It sounds like you both have set your goals and are on your way.  I am only a month or so into my journey but it has really changed my life so far.  I know we can all do it!!   Good Luck!

Trustwoman - Thanks so much for the encouragement! I love hearing all of the success stories it is uplifting!  :)

Here I am another newbie to the group with 150 to lose.  I have tried almost every diet there is,  I agree with one of the comments I read.  Even though I long to be thin, I don't know who I would be as I have always been overweight.  I will defibately appreciate any support.

Greetings and well met, I'm new to the forum.  I would love to lose a lot of weight!  Last year I had an episode with my heart that landed me in the hospital, where I was weighed in at 510 pounds.  I currently weigh 470 and could stand to lose well over 200 pounds.  I also don't think that 40 pounds per year is fast enough, as I'm 33 years old and don't want to die young of weight-related complications (what a great way to go, right?).

I just wanted to say, good luck to everyone.  If anyone wants some real-time contact and support, why don't we message each other via YIM?

Cheers,

SmashBoy (really does put down the fork, you know)

Hey everyone!!  How are you all doing?  I noticed this thread has fallen behind and I'm posting to help bring it back into people's memory.  Sometimes you forget a thread is going with people that are in your predicament but remember, you are not alone!!!

C'mon everyone, stay motivated, you are worth it!

I'm so glad others are finding their ways to CC like I did. I'm in my 6th week and I'm still doing good. It really helped me  to have found others like myself that knows how hard it is and helps to keep you motivated.
