I am sorry to hear that you are in pain, and I wish I could offer a quick, it won't take long, but you may be better off knowing what you could be in for. Depending on severity, it could take some time for pain to go away.

My mother was pushed down and fell on her tail bone and the acute pain was well into a week. The chronic, duller pain lasted another couple weeks after that. Hopefully yours won't be as lingering, but in any case, your body is telling you it hurts, listen to it and don't be afraid of pain management if you need it ... so long as it is done in a healthy manner.

I hope you heal soon.

Thanks for the advice, looks like its gonna be a looong weekend!

Sorry to hear your mum was pushed, thats harsh! At least mine was my own stupid falt!

It depends how badly you hurt it.  I hurt mine pretty badly trying to make a jump on my snowboard on an icy day, and hit it HARD.

It hurt for at least 6 months and then I re-injured it, so it hurt for another 4 after that.

Be very careful with it, it will reinjur quite easily.

Thanks for the advice. My boyfriend thinks i'm being a drama queen but it just keeps getting worse!

I was with my friend when she broke hers. We were sledding down a really big hill, then lost control of the sled, fell over a ledge into someone's front yard, and landed on their cement walkway.

I was fine, but she was in pain for three months. The doctors couldn't give her a cast or anything because of the location, but they gave her a bunch of drugs which we enjoyed. You should go to a doctor, and see if it's broken. What happened, anyway?

I dropped about 50 pens on the floor at work and was kinda embarased so i practiclly droped to the floor to pick them up! I smacked my tailbone right into the corner of my desk. Its a real pain in the arse!

^^^ hehehehe...

Anyway, I have a similar sledding story. Except I was just retarded, and went off a little jump thing, while on one of those saucer sled things. And landed, HARD, straight down on my tailbone. I wish I could tell you it wasn't a long time before it was fine, but to this day, it hurts at times. I think I hurt it pretty badly, but never did anything about it, actually.... This happened in like 5th grade or so?... And I'm now a junior in college! But I remember later that year/the next year, just sitting on the hard plastic chairs at school for too long would make it hurt for days, and I couldn't do situps in PE because I'd be in pain for weeks. I forgot about it for a while, but a few months ago, I tried doing (full) situps again and after a while, started feeling it again! I also think it sticks out a lot, weirdly, now.. but maybe I'm just imagining that. ANYWAY! I guess for sure take it easy for a while! Sit on something soft if you have to.... I hope it feels better soon!!

I cracked mine in January - slipped on the stairs and landed smack on it.  I was in total agony for a week or so, and it's gradually got better, but I still have difficulty sitting on it for long periods of time.  It does get gradually better - I promise!

Sorry to keep complaining but i have noone else to complain to!

When does it stop getting worse?

ouch x_x

i've hurt mine twice, once when i was about three and once last winter in a snowboarding accident.  both times i got one of those inflatable donuts (my guy friend in english class was laughing at me, but i didn't care Tongue out).

that's really all you can do if it's not broken, and i don't think it would be if you hit it on a desk.  you pretty much just have to sit on your donut until it heals.  my most recent one took a couple of months to heal, but i never got it x-rayed, so i dunno if it was broken or just severely bruised.  have fun with your donut, and have fun watching people's reactions when you tell them you broke your butt!  trust me, it'll make you feel better XD

I have to agree w/ Punkrock.  The inflatable donut is actually a hemorrhoid pillow (I only know this because I too have broken my butt several times by falling down the basement stairs one too many times-we converted the room to a master suite once upon a time) and I actually had to ask for professional help!!!

That thing is a savior!  I carried it with me everywhere-even sat on it while I drove!

Unfortunately, time is the only thing that will ease the pain...so sorry, I feel your pain...

I've done that before. I was babysitting and bouncing down the stairs with her to distract her.

Damn that girl was evil.

Anyway, I kind of landed half on, half off one stair and it hurt like a mother. For about two-three weeks.

Thanks everyone.

I have a doughnut thing some were.

I cant wait to phone work and say i cant come in cos i have a pain in the arse! What a joke!

I would get it checked out..theres a common condition called pilonidal sinus that causes pain in the tailbone after an impact injury ( a fall or such like ) . It can require surgery to treat.  Its worth eliminating that.
