I'm 22, just had a baby and I'm 285 down from 309...

I was at 278 before the holidays, so as you can see, i didn't do too well.  didn't go to the gym either... and had 2 binge fits...

yep.
I am kind of worried about so many of you setting dates for when they will lose the weight. Been there, done that, and I usually would find myself frustrated. I have come to the opinion that eating healthily and exercising consistently will allow ones body to find its right level in its own time. It could be that this is how I calm myself to try this controlled eating all again. One day at a time for a lifetime. But who knows, we are all on this road doing the best we can do.
We live in a toxic food environment and there are other factors too. The research implies that we of greater weight have a greater number of bacteria in out guts that make us more able to digest and use our food. http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/us/AP-Diet-Ob esity-Microbes.html I guess we must all remember that there are human variations to all this and we will all have to work to create a healthy size for ourselves which may or may not be within the range of "normal". Good luck to everyone, me included.
I'm in this club. Started in July '06 at 275. Thus far I've managed to widdle myself to being 229 (as of this morning).

I have no set deadline as to when I want to hit my ideal number, because it took  my entire lifetime to get to this size. Why wouldn't I take my time to loose it? (However, that said, I am looking forward to buying smaller jeans.) I've also enjoy how my body is shrinking and changing. The scale no longer scares me.

Does anyone have any good tips on calorie burning workouts? It get's harder do squat, run, etc when you have a load on. Any good workout videos?
One of my big problems is that I get very bored with repetitive exercise, so I've been finding new workouts so I can rotate my activity - now just need to increase frequency again...

Here are some that I do and I'm pretty big, and have bad ankle/knees so if I can do 'em you probably can too...

  • Carmen Electra's Aerobic Striptease vol. 1
  • Carmen Electra's Fit to Strip vol. 3 (sexy librarian routine!  ;)
  • Billy Blanks Basic Training Bootcamp
  • Billy Blank's Foundation Energy Workout
  • Walk Away the Pounds with Leslie Sansone (the easiest one)
  • Goddess Bellydancing with Veils
  • Yoga for Inflexible People
  • Qigong
The other thing I do is walk at the high school track.  And just started a new thing, I call it purposeful walking.  My bf drops me off somewhere then he goes to run an errand and he's going to pick me up at an agreed on location that I've got to walk to.  This makes me walk faster because I don't want to keep him waiting.  :)
Hi all! I just joined this site about 30 minutes ago and I definately belong in the over 200 club. As of this morning, I weigh 269.5 and I would love to weigh 150 sometime before I am too old too enjoy it.

I've dieted before and lost motivation but they were usually fad diets. Now I am counting calories and treating it like my budget. I can't spend money I don't have so I can't eat calories I don't have. Sounds kind of weird but it works (so far) in my brain.

I am so grateful that I found you all!

I'm 33 and topped out at 256.  My goal is to get back down to 160.  I've been slowly adding pounds over the last 5 years, mostly due to stressors - miscarriages, deployed husband, etc.  Oh, I have a lot of excuses.  I too am "full figured" and was able to hide a lot of weight before it really started affecting my activity level and self-image.    For me, the straw that broke the camel's back was a diagnosis of arthritis in my left hip on December 1st.  Fortunately, it's not osteoarthritis or rheumatiod.  It's related to an injury from a car accident I had when I was 17.

I am already down 9 pounds.  I am hoping (probably wishing) to get to 200 by the end of May.  My husband is most likely deploying again late next fall, so we have a Florida vacation planned for this coming June.  I really want to be comfortable and "fit" on rides at DW.

I have broken my plan down into 10 individual goals over the next 12-14 months.  My first goal is to lose another 9 pounds, for a total of 18 to get to 238.  I'm hoping to be there by the end of January.
Hi everyone! I'm 25 and weigh 212 pounds. At the begining of 2006 I weighed 231 pounds. That is the biggest I had ever been. I never really noticed how big I was then one day I looked in the mirror and decided that enough was enough. When I have my clothes on, you can't really tell how big I am and I've always used the excuse that I was tall (a little over 5'8").

I had lost down to about 170 pounds about three years ago after topping out at just under 200. But I then got into a very abusive relationship and started to binge eat which has lead me up to the 231 pounds.

I can't belive that less then 10 years ago when I got my drivers license I only weighed 130 pounds and a size 6.

My long-term goal is to lose 66 pounds down to about 148 pounds.

My short-term goal is to be less then 200 before May (bathing suit time).

I hope everyone keeps working towards their goals!
I'm in the club.  I'm 26, just under 5 ft, and am currently at 211 lbs.  My highest documented weight was 228 in March '06.  I am feeling very positive about my weight loss plan and goals.  I plan to fit into a swimsuit by this August.  I haven't worn one of those since I was 6 years old.

Two significant changes I've recently made regarding my health are: 1) I work out using Walk Away the Pounds DVD six days/week and walk/do crunches seven days/week.  2) I count my calories and eat only foods listed on WHFoods.com (today I had oatmeal, skim milk, and fruit for breakfast; a fruit salad for lunch; and vegetable medley and vegetarian black bean chili for dinner, sprinked with flaxseed--everything was delicious).   This means I have just about relinquished processed foods...so hard because my spouse is always eating processed and/or fast foods and refuses to try healthier foods.
...Count me in.  I'm 39 yrs old and weighed 240 yesterday morning.  Its not my highest weight, but its getting there.  My goal is 170 so I do have a ways to go.  I have battled my weight all my life and have been putting on and losing the same 60lbs for 10 years now.  You'd think I'd learn.  I hope to get and give support on here as I battle my way back to a healthy weight.  I`ve done it before so now I hopefully can do it again.

Thanks for the excersise video list, I'll look for them at the library. I've noticed over the past 2 years a bulge on my thigh. It is a soft lump, the shape of my legs have been changing to where I am hiding them. It is none other than fat. Has anyone experienced this? it is not really dimpled like cellulite. Does it go away with weight loss?

Regarding fast foods, our surrounding is fit for a overweight person. Anyone who has a busy lifestlye like me finds it so easy to pick up a meal on the road. There is so much to choose from it is almost a "set up". When I get motivated and head to the market to shop , I walk around in circles in the supermarket because 90% is packaged, processed, full of sodium, has msg, giant chicken legs that are obviously overdosed on hormones I will ingest, when I get to the produce area it is severly overpriced. It is so unfair I feel like I am trapped on overweight island.
Yes its pretty amazing. The food environment is what Kelly Brownell calls Toxic. Our government supports meat and milk producers through commodities support, so we pay less for these than we can. The federal program Women, Infants, and children cover the price of milk but not of Fruits and Veggies. What is amazing is that the more healthy the food, the more expensive it seems.
There are some options which seem a good value to me. I find frozen veggies and fruits to be good values. The plain ones, not processed with salt and sauces, have a lot of nutruition for the price. They usually are high in nutrition as they are picked at the appropriate season.
I have been looking over the list providers of fast foods on this list and find that there are almost no decent options there.
I have been a c-c subcriber for less than a week and am on my honeymoon. Right now it is easy, but I know that eating like this as a lifechoice is going to be challenging. My average caloric intake is about 1500. I am also exercising daily at the gym. Yet I know that I am on vacation and its easy to be focuses. The proof will be consistency even while I am at work with its toxic food environment and stress. Wish me luck on that.
I am grateful to have this time to refocus.
I started a year ago at 223lbs, and I'm now down to 200, give or take a few pounds from Christmas. I have physical limitations that prevent me from doing stuff, but I'm determined to get down to 120lbs. I'm 5'2".
has anyone 200+ ever considered weight loss surgery?  after years and years of yo-yo dieting, lifestyle changes, diet pills, fat caps, 2 babies, gestational diabetes, etc, i am finally considering the lap-band outpatient procedure.
hey Faux,

I too have contemplated lap band, I did a lot of research on the procedure... but my husband has forbid me to even think about having such a surgery, I started at 370 lbs 9 yrs ago, Im now 271 so in his eyes (hubby) if I keep making strides (diet, excercise, watching my carbs etc) i will keep losing... he feels that i didnt gain this weight in 1 yr and I wont lose it in 1 yr..so  this is my delema.. Im tired of the daily fight & being so consumed with cals, carbs, fat, excercise..its too much!!! i feel like the lap band could bring normalicy to my life..but he begs to differ..but I dont think he really cant  identify with me on this issue, because he dosnt have a weight problem,  he is at a healthy weight and doesnt even have to deall with the day to day struggles that I have to...

thanx for listening!!
I'm new to the whole support thing, but I've failed to keep any weight off, so I'm thinking this may be why. I'm at 255, would like to be 140.
Hello - I am new to the site and am glad to have found a group of people that are looking to lose more than that last 5 pounds.  I am now at 245 and would like to get to 155 before I turn 40 (in a year and a half).

I have done every diet in the world and know for a fact that there are no diet pills that work (because I have tried them all).  I have been using another site since August and have lost about 8 pounds, but I feel like the groups there can be a little more like high school (supportive if you are a part of the "cool" group) and on top of that it costs money each month.

So, today is the beginning of a new journey, looking forward to seeing where it takes me.

All beginnings require that you unlock a new door.

Hi everyone. My name is Lauren and I'm 19 years old. I weigh 215 pounds and my final goal is 135 by next November. I've been trying to watch what I eat (I have such a sweet tooth though >_<) and get into the gym at least 5 days a week. Unfortunately, since I started doing this I have only lost about 4 pounds. I look a lot better and all my clothes fit me better, but I'm frustrated because more weight isn't coming off. In the past, I have had a lot of joint issues due to being overweight, so exercises that put stress on my joints (like running, cycling, etc.) don't work for me. I lift weights and go on the eliptical right now. I don't know what I should change to actually see pounds coming off. It's aggravating!
Elfkittie - I completely understand the frustration! As I said earlier I have only lost 8 pounds, but what I didn't say is that I have lost an inch in each thigh, 2 in the waist and 1.5 in the bootie. I keep hearing that muscle weighs more than fat and that I should go by the measurements. I know there is truth in that statement, but I hardly ever hear a woman explained with measurements, it's always "she weighs about 130".

I want to see it on the scale just like you. I guess it's just patience and really considering the size of my body rather than the number of my body.
