I want to start a club for those of us who have a lot of pounds to lose. Anyone interested?
I weigh 206. I am out of control. I was down to 192 and shot up to 206 and it took me 2 years to get below 200. I am just sick about it. I also would like to keep this forum on over 200 going. Thank you for starting it!
EVOO = Extra Virgin Olive Oil. It's a term that the TV chef Rachael Ray coined. Yeah, I like to watch the Food Network.
BTW, I walked almost a mile today. I wimped out at 8/10 of a mile because it was about 28 degrees with a 15 mph wind and my left leg cramped up. I came home, bundled up, and feasted on homemade split pea soup (no meat, I don't eat meat on Fridays). Warmed me right up. Had a nice cup of Celestial Seasonings Sugar Cookie herb tea. It has no sugar, is all natural and tastes like sugar cookies. Yum!

Thanks Thorhalla !! I love the food network too ....
Thanks Thor...I use EVOO everyday, I forget it's still a term not everyone knows.
WTG on the almost mile...I know I dont usually do very well in the cold, I tend to get leg cramps too, usually in my calf muscle.
I just might have to try that tea, sounds good. I am a big tea drinker but I usually stick with a mixture of black and green...occassionally I try other things tho and that will be next on my list.
Well, hope everyone has a good weekend...I know for me that weekends are my most challenging...I usually dont get much if any exercise and there is a lot more temptation to eat. I really think I lose all my weight M-F. :)

I registered on this site 01/10. I must have overlooked this club! This is definitely what i needed! March 06 (250 lbs) I started seriously trying to lose weight. I lost 24 pounds. During the summer and fall of 06 I didn't lose anymore. But i didn't gain either which is GREAT!
Jan 2nd 07, (226.5 lbs) I've started again. So far I'm lost 8 pounds. Today I weigh 218.5!!!! I just need the motivation to STICK WITH IT! Normally when I diet (I hate that word) I eat diet food which is not good and i get really bored. This time I am being more creative and eating good food but healthy food. So anyone with good recipes let me know. I have some great ideas as well.
I'm glad I found this club!!!!!!!!!!!!

Crystal and anyone else interested,
I am a pretty big exerciser and wanted motivation to continue to workout and workout more and am doing this challenge http://www.calorie-count.com/forums/post/2179 6.html and wanted to let you all know about it. I set a personal challenge of 1000 minutes in 2 weeks (and a day) and signed up for 2000 minutes for February. Anyhow, just wanted to pass that along.

Crystal1975,
Thank you so much for your reply, I really needed to hear that, so in light of what you said I think I would like to also get to 160 lbs. I remember when I weighed that much and I thought I needed to lose 10 pounds! so I think that is where I want to be again. A few months ago I tried the Atkins diet and yes I lost 6 lbs, in two weeks but I flet HORRIBLE! So yesterday i started to count calories. I did the calorie counter and it said i should average 1200 a day. But I cant figure out how to exercise with my health condition yet. Anyway I can only hope for the best. Thank you again for your reply, I needed the support.
Lauren, I am so glad that you are so motivated to exercise, keep up the good work!!!

I have problems with my lower back. I finally went to the doctor about it last week. He prescribed physical therapy and Motrin-- he was very kind about it, but he noted that I need to lose 30 pounds just to be considered overweight instead of obese. He suggested that if I lose the weight, it's likely that my chronic back pain will go away. I look at it as a "prescription" for weight loss, and this time, I'm going to stay on track and do it. Currently I weigh 210 pounds. My long term goal is to lose 50 pounds, but I'm going to break it down to having a short term goal of losing 10 pounds. To me, losing 10 pounds is 'doable' but losing 30 pounds just to reach overweight range sounds discouraging! So I'm going to try this 10 pounds at a time.
I like this website. I think it will help me keep track of what I am eating that is causing this weight problem!

Another pound lost overnight....but still 294... only 94 to go... I'm at work right now, but planning on taking the mutts on a long walk when I get home and dance to my Ipod....
I have fought my weight since high school. Over the years I have lost it but have gained it back. However, I have learned a lot on this site and have also found a delicious homemade vegetable soup. So far no hunger. I also joined the Y. At first my weight started to go up. People said I was gaining muscle. Not sure about that. Now it is coming off. Started at 232 and now down to 220. I put in 2 hours a day for 6 days a week. Nice to have some feed back from everybody here on their stories.
I got to thinking about exercise and I have to share my exercise misadventure from a couple of weeks back.
I have been working out to the Body Electric TV show (it's on public broadcasting stations and hosted by Margaret Richard). She does some work with weights. I was trying to work to hard and used heavier weights that I should have to work my pectoral muscles (in order to help out The Ladies, who haven't been very perky in years!).
A day or so after exercising, I started having chest pains. I have a heart condition (not related to my weight), so I went dashing off to the emergency room. After bloodwork and an EKG, the doctor discovered that I had inflammed the cartiledge that connects my ribs to my breastbone. The cause? Working out with weights that were too heavy.
How weird is that? I'm OK and I have backed down on the weights. I guess The Ladies will have to wait on getting perky! *snicker*

Weight flucuations, so frustrating!
I was at 264 yesterday and today I'm back to 266. Grrr!

Oh Thor, I am sorry, I hate when that happens. Every morning I get on the scale and I kinda hold my breath wondering what it is going to say and when it says more than the day before it is so disappointing. I really try and not let it bother me and just think 'tomorrow it will be gone' Usually it is, just water weight from maybe a high sodium day or maybe it is because Aunt Flo is coming.
And let me say this about my Ladies...I am just sure, its only logical right?, that they wont be sagging so far down if there isnt as much of them to sag. :) But, I am glad you are okay...I know its awful tempting to push ourselves to make results happen quicker...I have to remind myself all the time to slow down and take it easy....learned the hard way that pushing myself too far results in injuries that keep me out of the game for longer.
Stanbob...you put in 2 hours a day, 6 days a week at the Y? Wow, thats a lot of exercise. Glad you are losing the weight now tho, congrats.

I'm down to 265 today. I am sure the snow shoveling I did yesterday helped. Yay!
There is no way that I can get on the scale everyday. I have done that
before and it just bums me out. I started on this site on Jan 11 so I
have promised my self that I will not step back on the scale until Feb
11.
I did good during the hoidays, maintained from Thanksgiving to New Years but I'm having trouble since Janary started. It got cold and I keep wanting comfort food. Thanks for this group. I come and read the latest postings when I'm struggling and it really helps. I weigh in almost daily, so I look for the trends rather than what I'm at each day. If I only weighed in once a week or so, I always wonder if that was the day I was retaining water or something :-) but if I see my weight trending up, or just holding steady day to day, I know I need to make adjustments somewhere.
I need motivation to get excersing. I hate to sweat!! I've been wearing a step counter and trying to increase my daily steps (all my hobbies, etc are sedentary). This seems a good place to start. We looked into joining a gym, but can't afford it right now (even with the January sale).

Well- I surprised myself today- I actually kind of "wogged" or Jog/walked with the mutts today. Thank you- B52's- Love Shack- on the Ipod. That song will want to get you moving! And I really didn't care how I looked either! The dogs were like- "Oh cool! You are moving faster" And last night at dinner I made a wholesome soup with spinach, carrots, celery, onions... My husband was eating it- said it was good but he "couldn't believe that I actually cooked something healthy!" He doesn't know (I can't believe he hasn't figured it out yet though) that I'm trying to get down to 200- or size 16- perhaps in another month or so he will...

OK, I have been overweight all my life. I have dieted several times and mostly come to my halfway point and stopped-then gained it all back. Obviously I am here so I am trying again. I guess the eye opener is that my mom had a stroke last week at 58. Now she is not a fitness guru or the most healthy eater in the world, but I thought she was quite healthy. I mean, my mom and dad were about the healthiest eaters in the family. So needless to say this was a really big shock. After getting over the initial scare with her, I became very concerned about my weight and health. At the time of her stroke I weighed 275 pounds. I am 30 years old and I started thinking that if I didn't do something NOW that the possibility of that being me at say..43 or something was a real consideration. Sooo.. here I am. I have a 7 year old son and I wanna be there for him as well a set a good example.
Would love to meet some people to do this with together. My boyfriend is overweight as well but totally not into losing weight which makes it kinda hard.

I am so happy to report that I am no longer in the 200 club! I have been so serious about my weight loss, and I am doing things right - healthy eating and exercise - no crazy diets or fad thingys here. I am down to 195 FULLY DRESSED! Usually i weigh myself in the morning nude but this morning I forgot until after I was dressed but decided to see what it said - and it was good news!
I started at 207 so I still have quite a ways to go, but this is so motivating because I don't really feel like I have been busting my butt or anything. I think it is because of my mindset, I have just accepted that this is a lifestyle change so it doesn't feel like work anymore, as opposed to when I would fad diet.
My goal is 125~130 (I'm 5'2" medium frame), so I still have 70 to go, but I'm determined to make it, and to MAINTAIN when I get there.
