Boredom hunger is a HUGE problem for me.  It's severely habitual and has been occuring for over a decade now.  My evil time is in the evening though, not during the day.  I find work easier to maintain b/c I can only eat what I bring with me.  I often even leave my wallet and money at home so I'm not tempted to go out for lunch or buy crap snacks if unplanned.

Another thing I do is just keep myself out of the kitchen.  If that means going outside to play with the dogs, coming upstairs to the computer, or reading in bed, then I'll do it.  It doesn't ALWAYS work, but it helps!
I'm with Mefunk. I only eat what I take with me to work which requires planning. I also keep safe stuff at work. But when I got home was a different story. I decided if I got bored I would clean something/anything in my house. Which was another one of my goals. So if I want to eat, I may clean a closet or do some laundry. Sounds kind of hokey, huh? Here is how I see it:

1. I am distracted so I don't eat.

2. I am cleaning so I am burning calories

3. By the time I his my weight goal I should have the cleanest house in the nieghborhood:D!!!!!
Thanks for the advice. I do drink alot of water. I bring my food to work but buying food is the problem. I am going to try leaving my money at home maybe that will help.
Think about the money you will save if you don't purchase overpriced food at work!!:)  You can save that for a new smaller sized outfit or a gym membership.

The evenings were my most difficult times also.  That sitting in front of the boob tube and grazing were disasterous.  I now go to the gym in the evenings and do water aerobics or work out.  This controls my hunger.  I usually have a snack and go before dinner.  My hunger for dinner is significantly decreased.

Good luck.

Evenings are better for me I have a 6month old so ever a dull time. And there I can always do something like clean or play with her.
Can I ask a question... I was 236 just over a year and a half ago.. it's been a slow go getting it off so I know the frustration.. particularly getting under that 200 mark and popping above it, getting below it and popping above it, getting below it... but eventually I managed to get there but my skin doesn't seem to be tightening up like it should.. or would like it to!!! Will it eventually tighten up because it seems to look wrinkly. I've started exercising more but it doesn't seem to be helping any or what I can see it doing. My doctor mentioned having a tummy tuck. I'd had to have one after my son was born and they're not nice at all (Plus you get two points by your hips!). Is this lose skin genetic? Is a tummy tuck the only way? I know this is a personal question to ask of anyone.. but if you have the loose skin, how do you deal with it??? Even after the weight loss (and still trying nearly 55 pounds later), I still feel really fat and only seem to focus on my gut.

Thanks for any responses you may be able to give me!
Fluffe,

It helps to keep you skin elastic by using a moisturizer, however this has a greater effect if you do this while you are gaining weight.  Olive (dry skin) or Grapeseed (oily skin) oil works really well, and you can add in essential oils to obtain a desired aroma.

As you age your skin looses it's elasticity. Toning will help but will not remove it all together especially after a large loss. You should try using the moisture therpies mentioned above, put some in your tub (careful not to slip when getting out), or rub the oil all over your body once you get out of the bath, the hot water opens your pores for deep penetration.

Beauty Tip: If you keep your breasts moisturized it helps to keep them perky too.
I'll join the club.  I will never be under 200 lbs.  My ideal bodyweight is between 210 and 220.  I started Jan 2, 2007 at 307.  I am down to 290 now and feeling great.  Any other "big guys" out there?
FLUFFE-

I started this year off at 244 lbs, and am now down 19lbs, with a very long road ahead of me, I have made my self mimi goals but once I reach my goal weight (135-140) which I plan to do by early 2009 and have kept it off for 1 year...my "reward" to myself is actually going to be a tummy tuck!

Genetics plays a HUGE role in your skins elasticity and I am EXPECTING major loose skin... 2 C-sections and 100 lbs loss, I just feel it's inevidible. My sister for instance, who other than normal pregnancy weght - has never been over weight but after 2 kids she developed a layer of loose skin that no amout of stomach workouts was ever going to get rid of.  Just last year she got a tummy tuck and has never been happier - If I read your post right it sounds like you have already had a tummy tuck and it was a bad experience - perhaps the surgeon was to blame for that because I know a few people (sister included) who say their tummy tucks were fairly easy to get through, and I've seen my sisters scar and I'm not sure what you mean by "points on your hips" but her scar is very smooth, no marks on her hips...

On the other hand though if you havn't already tried intense stomach workouts and moisture therapies - do that first! Good luck to you!!
I have 5 more pounds to lose until I cannot qualify for this club anymore. I'm so excited. Hopefully by the end of the month. Ive lost 89 pounds so far and boy does it feel good. I just want to see that scale read in the 100s. Then I can say i'm 100 and 'something' pounds. haha. Yay go me!
Thank you both Tameika78 and Tiatortilla95. Yes. You're right. I did have one bofore after I had my son. They removed two feet of extra skin (he was one BIG baby!). The points occured when they rejoined the skin at my hips. They don't do the liposuction here which I've heard that they do with some tummy tucks and when they reattached it, the doc attached it to all ready damaged skin. 15 years later and there's still a scar but it's faded a lot. Now my tummy just looks like a wrinkly prune.. or more like a saggy raisin! I think it'll be a long haul again having it done but I think I'd go through it with my eyes open and asking for an out of province referral as we only have one doctor that does them here. Although he is good, I don't want 'bullet' hips (Kind of like an A cup bullet boob on each hip!  Tiatortilla95, you've set a good goal for a target in two years. It is a long haul but it's definitely worth it. I've found that my back doesn't ache; my knee doesn't scream; and if I hadn't had those 4 slices of bread tonight (darn that bread), I'll start to lose again too. Ok.. gonna work extra hard at the gym tomorrow!
I just wanted to say goodbye to the club.  I am now joining the 190 club.  Bye everyone.  Good luck to all.

i just started this group thing and i hope it works.  i'm around 250.  well thats what i was the last time i weighed myself.  i'm 5'9 so i guess i carry it well but i hate being this size.  i've always been heavy but never this heavy. i've tried all of the diets of course and i finally came to the conclusion that healthy eating and excersize is the only way.  so here i am.  i heard that these kinds of groups help and i was amazed at all the information that this site had.  i'm glad i came across it.
I'm 22 and 261 pounds. I've still got 86 pounds to go to reach my current goal of 175, I just hope I don't get stuck really badly between here and there. =/
Thanks Craftin.  You'll be fine. I know you can do it.
Hey slcooper, I am in the same boat as you. I am a larger guy. I am 6' 1". I am larger boned, plus used to work out a lot so I still have a lot of muscle mass. I started with cc weighing about 310 took a break and started up again at 270 currently I am at 250 give or take. I have not broken the 240 mark yet. I hope to this week or next, but I will still never be under 225 I don't think. I am hoping just to hit 230 or so to be happy. My current body fat is 16.5% which is well in the range of normal for my age (43). Suppose to be between 12% and 20%. I cannot use the normal BMI scale it doesn't work for me. I have big legs and big calves. So that is where a lot of my weight is. I work out 3 to 4 times a week mostly cardio and concentrate mostly on my stomach with crunches and other stomach exercises. I am glad that some one else is in the same boat I am. I will have to update my picture so you can see where I am at now. Good Luck!!!
