I want to start a club for those of us who have a lot of pounds to lose. Anyone interested?
I spent four months in a wheel chair and have gone from around 170 pounds to 200 at my peak. At 6 feet tall, I would like to get back down below that mark, and currently I have been hitting around 195 right out of the pool. My only issue is I am not sure how much I should be eating. I swim most morning for at least thirty minutes and I am on the racquetball team which practices about 12 hours a week plus tournaments and me going in by myself. At the moment, I am aiming for 175, but I would be ok with just hitting 180.
CONGRATS SCOTT that's great...keep up the wonderful job. My short term goal is 10lbs...just 7.5 more to go ....:D

Hi Everyone,
I think this is the best website ever! I can't believe how much encouragement and support there is.
Scott congratulations on that first 25 lb loss, that is wonderful! Keep up the good work, just remember to to take it one day at a time.
Stinky1, I know what you mean about small meals. I do my best to eat small meals every 4 hours, and try to have my dinner at 6:00 p.m., not always easy as sometimes life/work interfere with my schedule. But I do know that eating this way keeps your metabolism moving, and seeing mine is almost at dead stop eating small meals is a good thing.
Lucky, thank you very much for the encouragement, it looks like you and I are starting out pretty much in the same spot. Maybe we can support each other during this trip in weight loss.
Does anyone know what the A,B,C in the food log means. I've noticed that some foods are marked with an A+, or C etc., and I haven't got a clue of what it means. If anyone happens to know can they clue me in.
Have a great day everyone.

Those are letter grades. So obviously a food rated A is "better" than a food rated F. Obviously though to keep some fat in your diet you will have some foods with slightly lower grades. If you click on Analysis under your account it will show you a breakdown and yoru grade for hte day.

Basically it is how the nutrition value is for each food. Taking in the calorie, fat, fiber, vitamins all that added together gets a score. If you keep track of all that you have eaten all day at the end it will tell you your final score that being A-B-C-D-F. I try the best I can to be at least a B+, my last 30 days was a solid A. That means I am getting in the amount of fruit, veggies, fiber, milk, vitamins etc. to keep it healthy. You can even go over your calorie for the day and still score and A or you can eat junk food stay with in your calorie range and get an F. It is up to you, but it is a guide to help you eat as healthy as you can.
I am sure others will chime in with an answer as well...

Yesterday my boyfriend typed in his food and got a B+. I knew there was no way given what he had been eating that it was right. Then I realized that the pop he had entered had not been assigned a grade, so I made him re-enter it and low and behold his grade fell to a D!!! I hope that this web site will be a wake up call for him as well as me. I don't think he liked it when he was told he was "severly obese". I am so glad I found cc! For both our healths!
I just started on this website. I have bounced between 225 and 240 for most of my life (since age 16). My lowest was 215, and I am currently 229. I would like to get to the 160s. I have diabetes, among other things. I have a long standing thing with my husband, if I get under 200 I get to shave his legs! Haha! I can't wait!

Ohh Ohh I am new too. I weight 210, the most I have ever weighed, EVER. But I am going to loose 45 pounds, I would like to be 165 is my goal by my wedding November 10th.
Hello everyone..I just got signed up here this evening. Like so many others, I have been overweight my entire life. I started my new eating plan (not a fan of the word diet) on January 23rd, where I weighed in at 293. As of Monday, I am down to 268. I would like to get down to 165-170 and keep it off. Good luck to everyone here and with this much support, we can all do it!!
Hi Everyone,
Thank you for the feedback regarding the grading for food. I thought that was what it probably was and it certainly makes sense.
Stinky1, thank you for your clear explanation and how I can read the analysis to see how I am doing. I do eat a lot of fruit and veggies.
Congratulations goofy_gurl that is quite an accomplishment, stick with it.
Well I am going to go take a look at the food analysis and see how I am really doing. Talk to you all later.

Hi,
Me again, I just an analysis for the 4 days I've been doing this and I have an A-, which I think is pretty good for a newcomer.
Although, I think I am a little high in the carb area, anyone got any ideas of how to correct this, as I said I eat a lot of fruits and vegetables, not much bread, my favourite meal is a salad stuffed into a whole wheat pita pocket.
I am open to any suggestions, signing off for the night.

Carbs just don't come from breads alone. Fruit has a lot of carbs too. Check out bananas and see how much they have, it isn't bad to have a lot of carbs just depends on what kind and how you are getting it. I eat a lot of wraps. I found one kind called La Tortilla they have 50 calories and 8 grams of fibre. You cannot beat that. Here is a website that calculates how many carbs you should be eating a day:
http://www.healthcalculators.org/calculators/ carbohydrate.asp
Here is a link to the new food pyramid this might give you a better idea of how much and what you should be eating for better health.
http://www.mypyramid.gov/pyramid/index.html
Do a little research on the foods you normally eat and check them out on this site before you eat them to see how many carbs they have. You have to have carbs, keep to whole grains if at all possible.
Good Luck!!

Thanks to all, for the encouragement! I am taking it one day at a time, and hoping with the onset of springs, the fresh veggies (LUV tomatoes), will also help! I still am continuing to lose and my next mini goal is 9 lbs away...I'm really beginning to think I might actually make it with all the help from this site. The main thing for me, is to remember to break down and eat all along thru the day. I do save more for the night meal, cuz it's with my dh, and I try to eat a variation of what I fix for him. But, I still need to eat every 4-5 hrs during the day. It makes me feel much better, and gives me more energy. I hope to be able to start some type of exercise soon.
thanks again!
thanks again!
I am 21 and right now I'm at 226. My weight kind of bounces around a bit. My problem isn't that I eat too much, it's that I don't eat enough, because I don't like food...it's the original reason for the weight gain. Then when I do eat, I binge just to get rid of the hunger pangs. Last winter I was 248, but I'd like to have a more steady weight loss. My goal is to weigh in at about 200 by June. My biggest problem is that I work in a mall...right now 50+ hours per week and go to school full time at night. I never get enough sleep and am always on the run. As supportive as my parents try to be about my weight loss, it feels more like they're nagging me about it. I set up a plan though. I bought stickers and a weekly planner and on each day I put four boxes. Every time I breakfast lunch and dinner, I put a sticker in a box and The fourth one is for walking. At the end of the week, if I've earned all my stickers, I give myself a non food related reward. (Like going to see a movie with a friend on my next night off or because I like to read, buying myself that book I've been dying to dive into.) Hopefully that will work.
I lost 7 pounds before I got here, I hope to do so much better with everyone?s wisdom & support! I started out at 207 (the heaviest I?ve ever been). But I have decided to take control of my life.
~
I will be the maid of honor in my lil sis wedding Nov 08, ALL our old friends will be there plus the dress I will be wearing is gorgeous! I would hate to be fat in it. So this is going to be my best shot!

Congratulations to everyone of you for getting started!

Hello everone!!
If you don't like the word "diet" try "live-it". I like that much better!

Hi Everyone,
Hope everyone had a good day, my day was really busy at work as I worked from home Tuesday and Wednesday, and because one of the Dr.'s I work for was leaving to go to France it was none stop.
Thank you very much Stinky1 for the links to the 2 websites I will definitely investigate both of them. I don't very many bananas even though they are supposed to be good for you; I don't like the texture of them, the only way I can get them down is to slice them put a little milk and Sweet n' Low on them.
Okay, I have to ask where does the name Stinky1 come from?
My nick name comes from someone I used work with, he was under the illusion that redheads had a racey side to them. I am a lot of things but I've never seen myself as being racey.
Keep up the good work Scott, you seem to be doing the right things.
rdriextela, not eating is not a good thing, because your body will hold on to the fat because it thinks you are trying to starve it. I used to the same thing when I was younger, skipped breakfast, even lunch then would eat late at night all the wrong food. I finally tipped the scales at 300+, when I was in my late 20's. Try really hard to change your eating habits, start off by eating breakfast, it will be hard to break your old habits but if you take it one day at a time you can do it. I am a big believer in the "one day at a time", or even one hour, whatever it takes to get you through.
Everyone, have a good day tomorrow.

I love the idea of an over 200 club, I am new to c-c, and really need all of the support that I can get. My goal is to lose 105lbs.
Well Racey you will have to ask the wife why I am called Stinky. My licenses plate also says "Stinky1" I get a lot of laughs. I guess I get it honestly this eating healthy kind of brings on extra gas. I am glad to see a lot of new people joining this "Over 200" message board. I am probably one of the only few men who even joined CC. I have learned so much by just reading and following the links that others have posted. I weigh in tomorrow, I hope to be down another 1 or 2 pounds. I weigh myself only once a week same bat time same bat scale. So as not to vary from my routine. Last time I was at 249. Once I hit 245 I will only be 20 lbs from my goal. Then I will be here just to maintain that. I don't think I will get less that 225 and I am not trying. I have too much extra muscle for anything less than that...
