Welcome all new comers. We are all here to help.

Lisa here is something you might want to look into with a work out with your kids could be fun: http://www.exercisewithmommy.com/

Looks like this will give you time with your kids and have fun and get work out at the same time...

Stinky,

New here and not quite sure how this all works but it looks like a marvelous forum for lot o' info.

I am 5'6" and a smidgen (Shrinking at 49 yrs.) and currently 237 lbs.  Have lost 10+ lbs in the last month.  Am going benefit greatly from all the input.

I do have a specific concern.  Any recommendations on cleansing the body....fasting, fruit drinks, herbal teas?  I know the body carries around a lot of food in various states of digestion.  I do not like the feeling I get when I have overeaten terribly and do not practice overeating given I have no major crisis ocurring.

That being said, I do like to experience a body not bogged down.  Again, any recommendations on fasting, how often if ever, benefits, downfalls, suggested products/foods?

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks, lmotelet

I saw your post before read it a couple of times. I myself have never had a body cleansing. I have heard of a couple of types both with herbal and with colon cleansing. So I am not the expert and would have to do as much reading as you to understand and how it works. I have heard both good and bad points you might want to do a search on this site in the forums about body cleansing I am sure there are people out there who have done it and know more about it than me...I know I seem to be the "Go To Guy" here, but not for that...sorry I wasn't any help...I will do some searching and post it on here if I find anything about it...

Im back to a plateau. My last plateau lasted about a month and a half. Then one week, I weighed in and I had lost two lbs. That was about a month ago....I havent lost anything since. There are these two pounds that Im fighting with, I gain them, then I lose them. I am still 56 lbs away from goal, so hopefully its not gonna continue to be this way or Im never going to get there...
I found this on one of the forums about detox/cleansing, according to this, it doesn't sound like it doesn't much good or healthy, but it is still a personal choice to do it or not..I myself wouldn't do it...

Angel, I would suggest you try what I suggested in my last post to you. Try increasing your calories, and working out a little harder and changing your workouts. Try to use your larger muscles in your work out they are bigger and burn off more calories when you use them. Lunges, are good, take two stairs instead of one will work your larger leg muscles. Leg lifts, things like that using your larger muscles...also stretching will increase your muscles oxygen in take and will burn more off before you start to work out. It will come off as long as you are burning off more calories than you take in.
Thanks Stinky, Sometimes I just get very frustrated cuz I think whats the point of all this healthy stuff if its not leading to my weight loss? I am going to try your suggestions. Obviously I was doing something right to lose the first 20 lbs. So 56 to go.... and my goal date is more than a year away so I think I can make it.
I had lunch and it was just a salad but i feel like i ate way to much, I feel so full. lisa
I understand what you mean about frustrated, been there done that. I have lost 75 so far and have just about 10-15 to go, those are the hardest to loose. I am going crazy trying to loose them.  I don't always eat the best on the weekends, my bad for that, but as long as I am not gaining I am happy. I pushed myself really hard so far this week as far as my workouts so I hope to loose at least a little this week we will see.

Salads can be filling, but it will go away quickly, also be very careful about salad dressings they can have as much fat and calories as a Big Mac so word to the wise eat fat free or light dressing...
I was wondering if anyone on this thread had any good recipes for easy foods for lunches/dinners or snacks that I could bring to work. Honestly, my meals have become so routine, that I dont have the desire to eat them anymore. I eat the same things every day and Im bored with them. I need suggestions on anything else I could have for my break at work thats easy to make and tasty.
I was walking in a store the other day and they had samples of a chicken spread that I turned into low fat. Take a can of chicken like you would find tuna in. Put in about a tablespoon of FF Ranch dressing maybe a little more, just make it moist. A table spoon of sweet relish, I found some made with Splenda, no calories, I also found some salad dressing that is also calorie free. A touch of FF shredded cheese mix together and put on top of crackle bread...good low calorie low fat easy to make and take for lunch. I know what you mean about being in a rut for lunches..I also use these wraps I found they are 50 calories each and have 8 grams of fiber. They are made by La Tortilla Company hard to find. They come in both small and large the large ones have 80 calories and like 12 grams of fiber.
Stinky,

Thanks for the input.  Don't want to do anything stupid and don't believe in an "all" anything diet, like "all liquid" etc.  I will go out on the web and research that particular item and keep watching this forum for more interesting subjects!

Thanks, Leanne
I just started up again losing weight. I started on 20 April at 236 pounds (I am 5'10 and a bit) and today 9 May I have lost 15 pounds. I drink slim fast in the mornings and with my lunch, and drink 100 oz of water a day. I try to stay under 1800 calories each day and exercise 6 days a week. I also am a league bowler---and was surprised to see how many calories I lose just bowling!!

Good luck losing everyone! My ultimate goal is 170 pounds, so about 51 pounds left to go!!
Wow, I am so pumped to be on here.  I started my calorie reduction diet about a week and a half ago, and I have been doing a run-walk combo excercise everyday.  I plan on going 6 days a week, for about 45 minutes.  In my first week I lost 5 pounds!  I'm currently 275 and I'm 6'0" with a large build.  I'm in a size 20 jean.  My goal weight is about 175-180.  Any other ladies hate the BMI?  I think it's such a crock, It says I'm morbidly obese. ANyonw know of a better judge?
No one likes the BMI it works for some, but not for others. Myself will never be in range according to my BMI, but try this:

http://www.active.com/calculators/bodyfat_cal c.cfm

This comes closer to me than any BMI out there so far...

According to my BMI I should be 185 yeah right if you look at my pics you will see I will never get there.

There is also the body fat measurement that my trainer uses, pinches different places then takes measurements then calculates body fat. Even though I am about 237 now it says I only have 13% body fat so see the BMI doesn't always work.

Plus there is also a scale out there for hip to waist ratio and that works pretty well too.
Stinky, That sounds like a delicious recipe. All of the dressing I have in my house is FF or Low fat. I think I may have some ranch lying around. Its tough, before dieting, everything I had was cooked in butter or fried, or something really unhealthy. So, since I started this, I have been kind of lost as to how to cook good, and whats good for me and that kind of thing. For the past few months, every lunch has been lean cuisine and a salad, and that stuff definitely stops tasting so good after you have it that often.
Angel I know what you mean, it is hard to find things low fat and healthy and keep it fresh and new...totally understand, I forgot one thing you need in the recipe and that is bacon bits I found some low fat Hormel ones if you cannot find those use the imitation ones with the dressing they become moist so they are not so dry...about a table spoon is all you need. I made it tonight, but using turkey instead, a little more healthy and just as good and I put it in a pita this time, it was pretty tasty...
i went roller blading yesterday and it was fun  i did not fall or anything i was happy. it was a good work out. i think i will go agian today i also did really good eating all week i am so proud of my self i take it one day at a time and so far so good. have a good day lisa
The weekend is almost here, so try to do your best at not going overboard on your eating. Also Happy Mother's Day to all the Mother's out there and have a good and safe weekend...
