Today I finally hit 200! I am so happy! it seems to have taken so long. So Ive got 20 lbs down as of today. As far as the food goes, I just went to the store today and bought lots of fruits and veggies and well see what I come up with with that....
Good Job Angel...I weigh in tomorrow we will see what it brings. I really worked hard this week a little harder than I have for the past couple. I find it more difficult as I get closer to my goal to really stick with it because the weight doesn't come off as fast and seems like you really have to work twice as hard. With the weather warmer it does kind of make it easier to get out and do more, but still doesn't seem to come off as fast as it did from the start. Only loosing 1 lb a week is tough, but at least I am going down and not up...
For some reason, the warm weather makes me want to get up and do everything. I cleaned the entire house today just because it was so hot so Id rather not just sit around and roast. When its warmer I want to keep moving cuz its better than getting stuck to things cuz you have been sitting on them for too long... I wonder how many calories intensive house cleaning burns.

For anyone looking for a way to judge Body fat I just found a new scale.  It measures your weight, body fat % and hydration %.  I love it because I have discovered I am dehydrated!  I can also program my height and age into it.  It stores up to 10 people so would even work for families.
Where do you get this scale at?
Stinky, You have an answer for everything. lol You are like the glue holding this thread together. Thanks for all the help. And when I lose the one lb that will take me out of the group, Im staying in anyways. =)

Angel- You are more than welcome to stay. When you hit your goal you can still stay. I am glad, that I am able to help others. I hope I don't sound like a "Know It All" because I don't and I will be the first to admit it, but anything I can do to help. And if some one asks something I like to try to find out the answer if I don't have it, which is probably more often than I have the answers I enjoy looking it up that way we all learn.

I hope you all had a good weekend. I know I blew it this weekend...ugh I guess we all have bad days and good days, this was a bad weekend...not going to dwell on it just going to work harder this week that is all...

I just started a calorie-counting diet on my own last week. Then, I found this website to help me keep track of the calories. I am 21 years old and weigh about 260+. I am supposed to lose about 120 pounds to be my ideal weight, but I am really not that big to begin with. Most people are shocked that I am even over 200, let alone over 250. I am worried that if I actually get down to 140-150 pounds I will be skin and bones. I am farily active and know that a lot of my weight is due to muscle. I would like to keep most of my muscle and just loose the fat that's on top of it. I am a size 18 and would be perfectly happy if I could get down to a size 14 or 12 at the least. I guess all of this is to ask which is more important. Should I focus on feeling healthier and pants sizes, or the actual pounds?

Hello,

I just found this sight today and really like what I see so far!!! I am 30 years old and have been struggling with my weight all my life.  When the scale hit 260, my jaw hit the ground, and i began my weight loss journey in 2004.  I managed to lose about 55 lbs.  went from a size 24 to a 16!!!!! I was sooooo happy, I did it by counting calories and working out religously.  Well, I guess losing all that weight did something to my female organs because I became pregnant with twins!!!  Needless to say I have gained all but 5 of the 55 lbs I lost. My twin girls are now 10months old I am now back on my diet and working out.

I would love to have some support, and maybe i can offer some guidance as well.

It's nice to meet you all!!

Wendy

I am not sure there is one answer for your all your questions. Some of the answers have to come from you. I am sort of in the same boat as you. I know I am a guy and carry more weight naturally, but I will never be at my ideal (BMI) weight only because I am large all over. So that might be your case as well. If I were you I would start by using the tools that this website has to off as far as determining how many calories you need to eat daily to get down to a weight you would feel comfortable being. You will find that by exercising your body shape will change and your clothes will fit different. You are correct that muscle weighs more than fat and that by working out you will lose the fat and gain more muscle and become more lean. Fat doesn't turn into muscle it just gets rearranged. Follow these guidelines that I have links to to help you out:

Allowance: http://www.calorie-count.com/calories/calorie s-goal.php

Expenditure: http://www.calorie-count.com/calories/calorie s-burned.php

These two links will help you get started if you have not already used them.

Good Luck!!

Stinky, I had a pretty bad weekend as well. I dont think I went over maintenance calories, but Im not trying to maintain, Im trying to lose. On saturday, my boyfriends parents came up to visit us and we went out to dinner, and that place had NOTHING that was low carb/low cal or anything like that. I did only eat half of my plate though. Then on mothers day, I made dinner and dessert for my mom and though I didnt go crazy on portions, the things that I made werent really good for me.

You dont sound like a know it all, I read all of the advice you give cuz at this point I will take all I get can get. Losing weight is really tough, so any advice helps. I dont think I am going to stick with the goal weight that this website provided for me. When I was that weight before, I was wayy too thin for my height. Im 5'8 and when I was 145 (the goal that cc set for me), I was a size 2 to 4. Honestly, looking back at the pics that was wayy too skinny for my height. I cant figure out what I want my goal to be though.
Thanks for the kind words. = ) I do my best to keep people up and help anyway I can. I know that cc and BMI say what you "should" weigh and to be honest you have to go more on how you feel and how you look yourself. You know what you look like not the website or BMI. They don't see you with out clothes on, that is what is important. If you think you look good at 165 then fine if you like it better at 155 fine, as long as you feel good and feel good about yourself that is what matters. Not the BMI or body fat % although the less about of body fat % the better you will feel, but don't go crazy either.

Your ideal weight and fat-lean ratio varies considerably for men and women and by age, but the minimum percent body fat considered safe for good health is 5% for males and 12% for females. The average adult body fat is closer to 15%-18% for men and 22%-25% for women.

So if you are with-in this range then I wouldn't go so much on weight as much as body fat %. Myself I am not a goal yet stuck at 237, but my body fat is 13% last check so I am with in range, so I am happy with that. I am trying more to tone and loose my last 10 lbs or so...I think I will be happiest there. But, well if I keep blowing my weekends I will never get there...  = ( it happens just get back on the horse don't stay off of it, you will regret it. Just put it in the past and continue.
I'm really excited to lose weight and can use all your friendship and encouragement.  Started dieting on the 7th and have lost 7 pounds so far.  I've got more than 100 to lose, so I'm in it for the long hall.
Hey everyone I have a question.  I went out and bought a better scale today but when should I weighing myself?  I have been told that I should weigh in the morning but I have also heard that night is better.  Any ideas??  I bought a new scale because my old one kept giving me such different numbers.  I got on the scale 5 times in a row to see what it would read and every time it gave me a different number.  Does anyone else have this issue?  or is it just me?  I am also having a hard time with this weight loss.  Last week I managed to lose 4 pounds and this week I have put it all back on.  I am so frustrated and have even thought about giving up on this.  I have been sick for the last couple days and havent done much so I'm sure that isnt helping, especially since I am very dehydrated but I thought that would make me lose weight not put it on.  Oh well.  It just sucks having been in this program now for two weeks and have only lost 1 pound overall.  So frustrating!
Hi, I'm new at this and I need help.  I have never really dieted before, and I really don't know how to start.  I am a stay at home mother of three, and it seems that the only thing that I have found that interest me is eating.  I currently weigh 245 and I am 5'2''. I need advice at how to get started, and how to stay focused. If anyone can give me some advice, I would really appreciate it.  I joined cc in Feb. 2007, but that is all that I did was join.   I have had enough of being too tired to do things with my kids and husband. I always seem to just sit and watch them have all the fun.  Can someone help motivate me please???? Erin
I am also a SAHM and I honestly just drink a lot of water to keep me from nibbling so much. Everytime I use the bathroom, I drink another glass of water :)

What's great with me dieting though is that the rest of my family isn't eating the junk either. We've cut potatoes and rice out of our dinnertime menu and just double up on veggies. My husband brings the snacks that he likes to work and leaves them there so I can't get into them!! :)

My daughter (3.5) is so excited about me losing weight and becoming more active. Now that it is getting warmer here in SC, we spend a lot of time in the pool---which is excellent exercise!!

All the motivation that I needed was that I finally came to the realization that this fat IS NOT GOING TO FALL OFF ITSELF! I have to work hard to get it off, and once I do---my way of life will be much better! I started at the end of April and have lost 17 pounds just by drinking water, exercising and watching my portions. And this past weekend my husband and I spent at the NASCAR race in Darlington---and you know I wasn't eating very well there!!

Beckie :)
h2---I weigh myself in the morning right around the same time, before I take a shower and everything. I found that my weight fluctuates within 4 pounds throughout the day.

Don't let yourself get too down on this! Just watch your portions and drink lots of water!!

Beckie :)
