I want to start a club for those of us who have a lot of pounds to lose. Anyone interested?
Welcome all newbies, don't get discouraged. This is a slow process and to me this isn't a "diet" it is a change in life style and how we need to eat. This is truly the way to go to be as healthy as you can be. Just stick with it, it isn't as hard the longer you use it. We all have great days and bad days, but if your bad days out weigh your good days then it is all good.
As far as weighing yourself goes, it is best to weigh yourself at the same time every day whether it is morning, noon or night. I weigh myself every week Saturday mornings before eating before doing anything. Weigh yourself with no clothes on so you get the most accurate weight. Your weight will fluctuate thought the whole day. Depends on how much you eat drink, salt in take all of that is accounted for. Part of the reason I do it in the morning and once a week. Some people do it everyday, I have heard both good and bad points about both.
I agree with Beckie = )

Sometimes its really tough to get back on the horse after you fall off. Last weekend when I didnt do so well, I found it was really hard for me to get back to limiting myself. The bad food made me feel like crap but for some reason I couldnt stop and I went on a binge. Im back on the horse now, its tough though when everyone around you eats like crap. My family all eat tons of junk food, and when they have a big bowl of ice cream I have to say no ill have some strawberries. But as my friend always says "Nothing tastes as good as being thin feels."
Yes family gatherings are very hard. Went out to lunch with my sister and oldest daughter the other day they wanted to go to Chili's yummy...ate too many chips and salsa, but stuck with the Chicken sandwich on the guiltless grill so I understand what you mean. Very hard when family doesn't eat as well as you are trying to. I don't have a problem during the week it is the weekends that are tough. I take much lunch to work with me so that is easy and walk every day weather permitting at lunch and eat a healthy dinner, but weekends I do my best, but pizza always calls my name!! This weekend is by B-Day and anniversary so I am sure I will blow it but will be good up until then.
I also found that after a weekend of eating things that aren't very good for you---it is hard to get back on your normal routine. I actually went back after being kind of naughty to my normal diet on Tuesday rather than Monday. I found I am more successful when I don't start dieting on a Monday!!
Pizza also calls my name!! And bread---like garlic bread or whatever. Tonight I am making my favorite---homemade mac and cheese. BUT---I've changed it a little so we have whole wheat elbows and 2% milk cheddar cheese. It's not exactly AS good, but it's close. And I don't make a 13x9 size pan anymore---just an 8x8. If I have the leftovers, I will eat them throughout the day.
I just try to remember what I am working for. Forty nine more pounds to go!!

My family is awful as far as all the junk food goes, and they are not the type to have a bowl of chips, they have the bag right next to them. I just look at the bag and im like OMG i want that! I have to learn better self control definitely. After a rough weekend, it is always so easy to keep on the unhealthy track. It took me nearly half a week this week to get back on track after my bad weekend. I am back on track though, hoping I didnt gain too much. =/
Anymore I don't have cravings like I used to about chips and such. I play a little game in my head I try to figure out how many calories it adds up to and add it to my total for the day and that just puts a damper on any cravings I might have. Getting back on track is better than not at all. Remember this isn't a diet it is a life change. You will need to do this for the rest of your life if not you will gain it all back. This is something that will have to be forever, yes you can break it every once in a while and that is OK, but it cannot be broken everyday and once a week eat better. Take one day at a time and pretty soon it becomes a lot easier.
Hey everyone,
Thanks for all the support. After such a rough weekend and couple days I have gotten myself back on track and have managed to pull the couple pounds off again:) I had a great day for eating and got lots of exercise and plenty of fresh air!
Thanks again and keep up the great work!

Hi All,
I'm just joining like a lot of you others. I am another at-home mom to three little ones (almost 4, almost 3 and almost 4 mos.) wanting to go from frumpy mama to HOT MAMA!!! Mostly though, I just want to feel good about myself and be healthy. I'm hoping to get the support and extra motivation that I need through this group and site. As for my stats, I am almost 30, 5'5" and 221 lbs. My current goal is to get down to 170 and then I'll reassess and decide how much further I want to go. Looking forward to learning from and being inspired by you all!
Kat :)

One other thing - does anyone have any general tips for dieting while breastfeeding?
I finally broke my plateau I am down 2 more pounds this week only 10 more for goal!! I am glad to see more people here and I hope we can all loose together.
As far as breastfeeding well since I am a guy I have no clue, but I did read someplace that breastfeeding helps you loose quicker after having a baby. I am not sure the reasoning, but you might want to do some "Googling" on the subject and see what they say if you have time.

Stinky---way to go!!! That's really awesome. After my weigh in today, I lost another pound from yesterday and that brings my total to go down to 48. I started at 236 and am 218---YAY!
As far as breastfeeding, just make sure that you are still getting enough CALCIUM. Just because you are dieting doesn't mean that the baby should be dieting too! Get lots of fruits and leafy veggies and drink mucho water.
I also have heard that breast feeding helps you lose a little faster, so start now with a jump-start, right?!

Thanks, Stinky and Beckie. I'm already feeling more motivated amongst you all!!!
Hi, i'd like to join the 200 club, i'm currently 252lbs!!!, but would love to get to 140lbs as I was 4 years ago. A lovely lady, vklamorick, who very kindly answered my post, recommended I join. I'm afraid I need all the help I can get....................!!!! I hope not just to lose weight but to stop self loathing. A x
Good job Beckie...we are on a roll...It will probably take me 2 months to take off the last 10 pounds. We will see...not going to push myself. I am going to Disney World in a couple of weeks so I will get a lot of walking in I am sure. I just hope I can eat well there, I am sure it will be hard to find good stuff to eat. I know they will have chicken, but not sure on the veggies other than fries and I am not willing to put those in just because they are potato's.
Miro-feel free to join we are all here for support and encouragement you will find that here!!
Thanks for the email Kat keep up the good work all...

Hey, I'm trying to get to that 200 mark I was 205 yesterday when I weighed at the A.M
<<<I don't get it>>> I weighed in just now and I'm at 206 ): I'm still walking/Jogging it's hard to break through plateaus. I have 70 something pounds to reach my 100 mark. My daughter is 5'2 and 165 she need to lose 40lbs so yeah we have lot's of pounds to lose.

Your weight will fluctuate on daily basis. A lot of it has to do with the amount of food you eat what you eat, salt content a lot of factors goes into daily weight. That is why a lot of people tend to weigh in once a week, same time same place same scale. That way you get a true measurement of what you have lost and hopefully not gained over the past week. Could be that your body is also building muscle. As you know muscle weighs more than fat so if you are losing fat, but building muscle your weight might show that too. As long as your scale isn't consistently going up and you feel you are doing good you should be fine...don't fret it will be fine...just will take time that is all...and the older we get the harder it is to lose as well.

Today is my first entry on this board and I'm happy I'm finally coming to terms with myself. Yesterday was a turning point for me. I'm fresh off maternity leave and needed to buy new clothes for the office.
They hardly had anything that was attractive to wear. Looking through the clothes I started to cry. I looked at my Mom and told her I just can't do this anymore. So here I am.. On this board being completly honest and hoping to end my realtionship with my unhealthy self. I know it's not going to happen overnight ( I'd love it to :) ) But this is reality. I just know there is a foxxy girl in there. I just need to grab her and hold on tight and not let go. :) Starting weight is 275 lbs Goal is 165ilbs I'll get there.
Here's to new friends and a new me. :)

I hope everyone had a good weekend. I know I didn't well not as good as I should have, but kind of hard to keep it up every day. Since being my B-Day today and anniversary as well, I only went over my calories by 200 which really isn't bad since I am still in the negative after my deficit anyway.
I have one question do all of you count your calories with your deficit or do you keep it separate, because I keep mine separate? My calorie in take is all I count I don't subtract when is expend every day from my total in take, I didn't know if others did that. Does that make sense?
Gough, what kind of help are you asking for support, knowledge transfer? You will all of there here, but if you are asking specific questions you can get that here as well, just let us know and we are here to help...
