Thank you sagercih for your awesome advice.  I have actually really tried looking at it all from a health perspective..  I mean...I've been feeling heart "tension" or something lately...and I know I need to start taking care of that very important part of me...before it's too late.
I actually read something on another thread that ties in with what you suggested...  I have two daughters and a man who loves me...and I know they would love to go for walks...  It's just me and my silly fears that hold us all back.  So maybe I'll start there...
It's really weird the way I seem to operate...  I'll get up at 4:30am one day and ride my bike all around my neighborhood (did that a couple of weeks ago)...and feel all hopeful...but then never get back on the bike.  I went swimming last week and decided I would start getting in the pool most mornings for exercise...  That hasn't happened.
And...I am tired...all...the...time.
Sorry if I seem super negative...  I think I just woke up feeling really down about all this...and have reached that point where I'm mega frustrated with all my failures...but am not quite yet to give up...
Sometimes I think I just need someone to tell me that it is *okay* to start off small...
I'll definitely be going for a walk tonight.
Thanks again!
Skating....wow, I sure do miss those days!  Maybe I will do that again too!

I havent weighed all this week...too afraid thanks to TTOM!!  I was doing pretty good at not cheating until last night....then chocolate bars were envading my every thought so I had one....in somewhat moderation.  I even worked out a little more to not feel so guilty.  But now the craving is gone and I am back at it today.

I have found that those South Beach Diet things like the wraps and chicken salad stuff are great for lunch.  Very High in protein which is something I am lacking in my numbers....

What is anyone's thought on those meals.  I usually put a green salad with a little bit of dressing with it.

Have a Terrific Tuesday...

Juanita
South Beach meals are great.  I've tried others but always come back to SBM

Hello everyone how's everybody doing well I'm a little tired this AM I've been getting ready for my walk all morning and of course it's 11:26 now and still getting ready... I still have plenty of time (:  Anyway will somebody PLEASE push me out the door... Thanks your a true friend...

Bye
my day wasent as healthy as i wanted :( this is really hard for me but i will succeed!!!! Hows everyone else doing??
I'm weighing in a bit late for the sugar discussion, but I'll second stevia for things like coffee or tea if you just need to sweeten things up a little.  For baking and cooking I'll use a light agave nectar, which is low on the GI, natural (taken from the agave cactus), vegan and diabetic safe, and is sweeter so you can use less (3/4 cup of agave to 1 cup sugar / so instead of 720 calories, it would be 540).  Although, I've also been known to use organic honey or maple syrup depending on the recipe...
Good Morning everyone,  Watch out... I'm very motivated today and ready for a walk and a jog... Who wants to join me? Com on raise those Hands high..

I hit the gym yesterday for two hours ! HOORAY! I did it what ever lazy mood I was in yesterday morning I'm glad it's gone.

COM-ON you guys get out of those PJ'S or behind that desk and let's Rock today...Last one out has to do 20 sit-ups and make us all lunch (-:mmmm  I'm gone see you in two hours bye....
Hello everyone! I am new to this program! Well I was 230 pre- pregnancy then after I had my son I was about 270. My son had a lot of medical issues so I had to stay home with him, I didn't even realize it but I let myself get to 310 and now I am fed up!

Me and my mother got a membership to a gym so we started yesterday! Me and  her go to the gym at 8am then later in the evening my and my younger brother will go to the gym! I have to say I felt so energized after I went!

So hopefully this works! I have been seeing success from other people! Lets cross our fingers!

Good luck everyone!
I'm curious.. does anyone here have a membership at Curves?  I saw one here when we were walking downtown the other day and back when I lived in California (San Francisco), they were everywhere... I looked online and it looked like everything was specially designed for women and that piqued my interest.  I'm interested in what people who have joined have to say about it...
So, Where is HERE.  I don't have a membership but I have seen curve gyms around.  I have read on some sites people talking about curves and I guess many do have memberships.  Maybe post your question on the Lounge as a topic -  But, I hear it is a great place to workout... Maybe I will check it out

I just want to put in my two cents on an earlier subject:  Choosing an activity you had to give up and aiming towards it.  I have always wanted to dance.  I mean really know what the heck I was doing, last fall my boyfriend and I took Ballroom lessons and it felt amazing.  Now I have alittle bit of Salsa, ballroom and bellydance under my belt!!  I know that the moves are only going to get easier as I get slimmer but I have decided that I won't be held back anymore.  Let the music play, I am totally ready!
Hi,

I'm at 210 right now, so I have about 70 lbs to lose.  I'm just about to start shopping in the plus sizes, but I can still squeeze into an 18.

I'd like to slow the steady gain, and so I'm back to calorie-count to start counting my progress.  Last year I logged in when I was 190.  20 lbs gained in one year is too much.  I need to change something!

I love to Lindy Hop, but I need to teach my husband, so we can go out dancing. That would be fun!
I started my lifestyle change in the mid of May.  So its been about 1 month.  Maybe a lil over. I lost about 20 lbs since I started. I am now out of the 200's .  I am now 197.3  I am so excited.  What motivated me was ladies home journal www.lhj.com  I was able to do a virtual me its a program that lets u see how u look now, and if u lost 20 lbs or more, or less.  I highly recommend it.  It made me see with a lil hard work how I can look in the near future.  AND I AM ON MY WAY!
Great Job PORSHA!!

It isn't easy, but it sure does feel good even just a few pounds makes you want to loose more. I lost another 2 this week so I am down to 7 lbs to goal. It has been a little over a year, so it can be done just a very slow process. You didn't gain the weight over night so you cannot expect to loose it over night. Just stick with it....

Stinky
My Journal entry for today!  woe is me!!!

I can not believe how easy I gained almost a whole pound in 2 days.  Saturday I felt horrible after have eatin a protein burger from In-n-out and then going home and finding Dominos Pizza.  I had two slices of cheese pizza.  I knew Sunday I was going to have to work extra hard.  I woke up and did my 4 miles on my hills that I drive to when I need that extra challenge.  SUCCESS!  Yesterday was my daughters 1st birthday, of course there was a delicious white cake with fresh strawberries and whipped cream icing.  I did not cut me a slice because we allowed her to go nuts and she dug in.  It looked like a bomb exploded on that cake, lol.  There was nothing to cut if I wanted to. So I got a spoon and dug in.  :( .  I did not have more than 3 tablespoons of it tho' .  I thought not too bad, Ill run it off later.  Next thing I know my love said our friends were having a dinner at there house.  I thought OH NO!!!  That was not part of the plan.  We get there and TROY had the nerve to have barbequed Ribs, which I had none of...Lamb Chops, which I did have....Salmon, yes I had some, Grilled Veggies...I got some of that, of course, BBQ Chicken...had a leg.  Grilled KING CRAB LEGS!!!  I HAD 2!!!!!!!!  What else (ummm) Sweet Potatoes..I had a scoop, not too big.   2 glasses of red wine.  AND A SLICE OF BEAN PIE.  Man.  I was sooo full.  I cant believe I had all of that.  I knew I blew it but damn it I gained 1 lb.  I ran to the scale this morning.  How easy that scale can go up a notch.  But takes like 2 or 3 days to barely move down.  I just wanted to vent before I do my 40 minute cardio.  Now I have to work extra hard this wk.  I wanna keep with my avg of losing 3 lbs a wk.
Porsha-

Don't panic. Your weight goes up and down daily. You could be holding water weight from extra sodium in take. Drink more water that will help flush out the extra sodium and such. It didn't sound like to really over did it. I had a bad weekend too, but still sticking to my weekly weigh in...on Saturday mornings I don't weigh myself daily for that reason I do it once a week gives me all week to right my wrong from the weekend...
Hi.  I am new here and wanted to introduce myself.

My name is Kimberly and I am from Houston, Texas.  I have a lot of weight to lose (200+ pounds).

And today is the first day of my fresh start.

I look forward to getting to know you all.
I see a lot of posts on here about staying motivated and exercising. I fall into that as well. I try to walk 4-7 miles a day and do sit ups as well. (kinda fell off that wagon). I found that to stay motivated I joined a group online (free) called meetup.com. You can meet all sorts of people for hikes, walks, girls night, etc. Many of the women I've met are concerned about their weight as well and we've hooked up after work and on weekends to encourage exercising together. A great way to stay motivated AND make some new friends.
Hi Kimberly.  I am new to the group too and I have started on my weight loss journey today also.  I have done wonderful today so far and I am gonna go walking later this afternoon when it cools off a bit.  I am from Missouri.  Hope to talk to ya later.

Hugs

I have to say, I was in the 200 club... I was up to 230lbs (at 5'4).  Through diet and excercise I have managed to lose 40 lbs, with 40 more to go to my current goal.  Keep up the work guys and you can break the 200 mark too!  I have been struggling with my weight since puberty ( I am 25 now) and finally realize that the best method to losing (and probably maintaining) those fatty pounds is strength training and cardio workouts.  I keep a thighmaster and pilates rubber bands at my desk and use them at work, and I also have set aside time for the gym.  My diet is high in protein and fiber, and I do my best to stay away from the "bad" carbs... but I am not following any specific diet plan (I am a bit of a rebel... and as soon as I'm completely restricted from anything, that's the ONLY thing I want!).  I have also had to say goodbye to a former good friend (alcohol)  We had our fun times, but now we only meet on rare occasions.

You have to make sacrifices if you want success.
Hello, I just discovered this little community and I decided to join. I used to be in the over 200 club.  I'm 21 years old and a college student, I had a fun bout of depression that lasted a few years that left probably around 50-60 lbs. after I finally started getting a grasp on reality.  Last time I went to the doctor, in Janurary 2007 I was 215 lbs (i'm 5'6'') and now i'm 186lbs. Just weight myself for the first time in about a month just 5 minutes ago so i'm pretty excited to finally see that number.  What really jump started me, was well i'm an exercise physiologist.  I study exercise and I am obese, isn't that just completely wrong?  So when I started seeing that my last 2 major courses require me to be able to complete exercise tests, I knew that I definitely needed to get into shape.  Unfortunately no one is going to hire me if i'm fat, and that's the reality of the business. Soo... yeah.  I am eating about 5-6 servings of fruit a day and other than that i'm just trying to eat normally (I've had an ED before so "normally" is hard to do).  But mostly I work out, I spend about 2 hours at the gym 6 days a week.  So yeah that's my introduction, and please guys if you have any questions about exercise or your cardiovascular health please don't hesitate to ask. I'm not your doctor, or a licensed personal trainer, but I do know a lot about exercise.
