I would love to join your 200+ lbs club. i am 26,medium frame, and currently weigh 239 lbs. I started at 287 in late december 06. I cannot wait to drop below the 200's! I need as many friend as I can find that understand what it's like being this overweight. Let's stick together, and good luck to all!
Amen! I need accountability and support from people who've been in my shoes. I weigh 272, 34, medium frame and want to loose 100! Just started 2 days ago.
Good luck Katyk! I also just joined a club two days ago. Really depressing how out of shape I've let myself become. I'm 272! Can't even stretch or balance without looking like a clutz and a few other choice words we've all heard but I won't mention. BUT....it's motivation to get back to what I've been before and even better. Keep up the routine. I just keep telling myself, I didn't let myself down and I proved to myself and that personal trainer that I COULD last and get through it. It wasn't very pretty but I DID it. Now if I can just get over this muscle soreness...ouch!
Beckie you know you can always stay here. Just because you are under 200 doesn't mean you get kicked out...I have not posted for awhile, I am stuck and have been stuck at 230...cannot get down passed it...maybe I have hit bottom...I want to loose 5 more, but no luck. I bought a new bike the other day. I tried it out, I need to go back and have it adjusted leans a little too far forward. Been busy have not had time for the gym...maybe that is why, who knows. Anyway glad to see others joining...if you have any questions please feel free to ask...
And Beckie, you know that it's OK to buy SOME clothes to boost your spirits and show off your hard work - I mean, it's not a good time to invest in expensive stuff yet, but a few bucks on some new jeans at Walmart or a cute dress for going to the movies could really help you say motivated. (I don't know your style! So whatever YOU like!)

You'll probably find that when you wear your new stuff a bunch of people that haven't previously said anything will be like "Wow, have you lost weight?"  That can't hurt....

If even Walmart is too much for your budget, hit the thrift shops or even swap or bum from a good friend...
Eh. I will buy some new clothes when the ones I have start falling off. LOL.

Hey, I have a q?
I always weigh myself in the mornings, as soon as I get up. But while in the bathroom cleaning, I weighed myself and I was TWO POUNDS lighter than I had thought from earlier in the day (204 to 202). Is this normal?
Normal what is normal?? Your weight will flux all day long. Water, salt, other body functions all change your body weight from day to day, hour to hour. I only weigh myself once a week in the morning, on Saturday's that is my weigh in date and time. My scale knows when I am coming and runs and hides so I have to chase it down...then it screams get off of or only one at a time!!!
LMBO Stinky!

I don't think I could do it once a week. I HAVE to know every day. I'm actually a little OCD about it.

May I suggest a lasso for your scale? hehe.
Yea a lasso might work I was thinking super glue. Well if you are a little OCD then expect fluctuations then. I would still take the weight you were on Monday and compare it to what you were the Monday before or whatever day your OCD will agree with you...

I also weight myself only once a week.  I'm feeling kinda down right now because I haven't lost anyting in 3 weeks now.  I have been cheating alot so I know that is why.  I guess I gotta buckle down and get back on track.  sigh...
Oh cheating I did more than that this weekend...I just totally blew it...went to the Franklin County Fair to watch the car derby. They have no healthy food. I did eat pizza was the only thing I could find that wasn't fried, or smothered in butter..ugh I love and hate going to places like that. We also went out to lunch the same day with friends who are not small people, and they look at us and say you guys look great!! Wish we could do what you guys did, and they order the fried chicken fingers, and the chicken fried steak then get the Cookie Monster for desert, no wonder they look like that...I didn't eat as well as I should have, but I didn't get desert and I also road my bike for an hour in the morning before going...Anyway I weighed in Saturday morning, down another pound. Exactly 5 more til goal...going to be very hard to get there I think...
Yeah i watched this show about the biggest man alive and i realized that i dont want to be in that catergory.  i needed to lose weight so i can be a better mom to my son. right now i weigh 287 but i have already lost 9lbs in the first two weeks.  Im highly motivated so that helps alot.  My goal is to hit 180 but september next year and i think i can do it!

PoetBabe,  We have the exact same goals and weights.  I started at 288 and my goal is 180 by Sept. 08.  At worst by Nov. 08 for my friends wedding in which I will be a bridesmaid.  I know I can do it and if you stick with it through the hard and good you can to!  Just give yourself so mini goal to strive for I find it really helps!
I did it I did it I did it!!!!!

I am down to 198!!!!!!!!!

WHOOOO!! I have now lost more weight than I have left to lose! 40 pounds down...28 more to go!

Keep up the hard work everyone...we're doing GREAT!

Beckie :)
Yeah Beckie  I need to get back on-lline for moral support.  Keep up the excellent work.

I have given myself a very realistic goal for right now.  I want to lose enough weight so that I am comfortable in my clothes.  After I achieve that, I will think about the next goal.

I am keen to hear any advise.

Thanks, Leanne
I haven't posted in a while.  I fell off the wagon but I have managed to get back down to 255, where I was before I fell off the wagon.

I am riding my bike to work, that's 1.7 miles one way.  That has made a HUGE difference!  My exercise show, "Body Electric" with Margaret Richards, didn't seem to be yielding much in the line of results after doing it for a year.  So, I am looking into doing yoga.  At least I will get more flexible.  But, I think the bike riding is helping me burn off more calories.

Keep your fingers crossed for me to not fall off the wagon again!
Hello.  Name is Jessica (of course, by my name up there...)  I just joined Calorie-count two days ago.  I will join your club - I weigh about 355 and want to weigh about 150.  The site says I should weigh 134, but we'll see.

I am a high school teacher (biology).  I can get around pretty well, just don't ask me to sit on the floor. :)  Anyway, I need a lot of support.... obesity "runs in the family"... my mom is housebound, she is so heavy.  Her knees won't let her negotiate steps, and she has a hard time walking in general.  My mom is my best friend.  I have lots of issues there.  I have nightmares about her having a stroke or heart attack and dying.  I am 30 and live at home to help her.

Well, right now, as a family, we are trying to watch calories.  My doctor has suggested that I try Alli, the fat blocker.  Not so sure on that one.  I go back and forth on it.  I have seriously considered surgery, but Mom is against it; she is afraid of complications and death.  (Gee, I guess that is something to worry about!)

My grandmother and I go to Curves.  I really like it, but in the past have not gone regularly.  I have to make that time for myself during the week, even during the school year.  That's hard, because I am pretty involved with my students and it's late when I leave the school.  But, I have to try, or I'll never get there.....

I am sorry to sound like such a downer on my first post....  Usually I am more cheerful and encouraging.  I have read through some of ya'll's posts, and you seem to have a real community here.  I look forward to getting to know you.

Thanks for listening (reading, lol).
Welcome, Jessica!  We all struggle but we are here to support each other. I encourage you to keep going to Curves.  If I could afford it, I would do that!
Id love to do this, I am 21 and 5'8" have been strugling ever since I was little with my weight. right now I am at about 272 which is about my heavyest. Ive done counting calories before in high school and lost about 15 before I got bored. Im going to try it again! But I am not sure how much I should be consuming each day, this thing tells me I should be 144. and eat like 2050 cal. on a normal day I hardly eat 1,000. I know I need to up that so far toady im at 800 and  I have another meal. What im wondering is how much should I eat and how much should I burn??? I go to the gym as often as I can now even if its just for 20 min on the eliptical and I leave I was there. If anyone knows this information or can point me in the right direction, im just ready to do this and make a change in my life for myself.
Welcome everyone! I'm Beckie, age 22, 5'11, started out at 239 on April 22nd and now am at 198 today. Congratulations on joining us trying to get rid of our flabbiness! hehe.

First off, let me promise you that I have been eating healthy and not starving myself or anything! LOL

Jessica-I jump started my diet with Slim Fast. I religiously followed it for the first couple of months. Now, I only drink one a day, and that is at lunchtime.

Another thing that I did at first was stopped drinking all sodas. I substituted the sodas for water. I took my weight (then 240) and divided it by two, giving me 120 ounces of water to drink each day. And the weight just literally fell off, I'm talking like 10-15 pounds within the first month. Now that I am doing my weight as around 200---I drink 100 ounces of water each day. Two big glasses in the morning with some oatmeal, then two glasses at lunch, two at dinner and then throughout the day. My kidneys have been singing since I started that! LOL

What I found to be my BIG issue (quite literally) was my portion sizes. I always felt like I had to fill my big plate up...and because it was on my plate, I would need to eat it---and whatever my three year old daughter didn't eat too! So now I use the salad plates instead, and just fill that up---it's much much smaller, and my body still feels full after eating the whole plateful. Now I'm just not pigging out so bad---eating more when I am already full.

As far as exercise, I am a league bowler, so I go bowling three times a week for two hours. I started taking the stairs. I am a student, so I try to keep my feet moving all the time while I am sitting down. Now that I am under 200, I plan on starting to go jogging or something...i don't know yet.

color4u---the minimum amount of calories that you should be taking in every day is like 1200...so you need to get a little more. But don't use it for things like chips or whatever. Eat plenty of fruits and veggies (5 veg, 4 fruit servings I think). Drink milk for some good calories too. Or cheese. My favorite thing for extra calories is hard boiled eggs, because of the protein in them...as far as the exercise goes...all I know is that you want to burn more calories than you eat (obviously). But don't push yourself too hard, and my suggestion is to grab a banana before heading to work out for some extra potassium :)

Like I said guys, welcome! I'm here if anyone wants to chat!

Beckie :)
