I want to start a club for those of us who have a lot of pounds to lose.  Anyone interested?

With about 100 pounds to lose, I will join the club and say hello. I am a police officer that many years ago suffered a major knee injury while on duty and it has affected me physically since then. I continued to work mostly doing investigative desk duty and teaching the new recruits. As a result, physical activity declined and my cooking skills were raised to new levels. I then suffered a catastrophic injury to me knee and back while training and am now facing a disability. While being laid up, my weight continued to increase and now I need to get rid of it. Bad knees and being overweight do not go well together. I appreciate the support of those out there in the same situation and I will be happy to return it the same.
I want to join the club!  :)  I just found this site today and am extremely motivated!  But...I've felt this motivation countless times in the past and it never seems to last.  I do strongly beleive that the accountability, friendships, and support from others sharing the same struggle could be a HUGE help!

I've been overweight pretty much my whole life (was 11 pounds at birth!)  ha-ha.  I'm now at 270!  Yikes!!  I'm 5'11" but it's still way too much FAT on my body and I'm tired of it!  I'm looking forward to becoming a part of this awesome community...
I have not posted in a while...Welcome all newcomers. Great Job Beckie!! I pretty much live here, never will get under the 200 mark. I am pretty much at goal weight now, just hovering at the 230 mark. Want to get down to 225, but with no luck getting there. It may or may not happen we will just have to wait and see. If anyone has any questions please feel free to post them we will do our best to answer them. I have lost 80 lbs. using CC only, I still log everything I eat even if it isn't good for me and full of calories. We all have good days and bad days as long as you have more good days than bad, then you are doing very well.

Good Luck to all!!!

Stinky
I was wondering, is there any way to find out who on the site is in my area? I live in upstate SC.... I like logging on and reading the forum, but a buddy in my area would be nice.

Thanks!  Jessica
You can post in the "Lounge" you are new and where you are from and would like a "buddy". I am sure you will get a lot of people jumping at the chance...
JESSICA!

Where in the Upstate do you live? I live in Greenville!!
Stinky---those last five pounds are tough, huh?

BUT YOU HAVE ALREADY LOST 80 POUNDS!!! That is nothing to frown over! You've done GREAT!

Today I was taking my rent check over to the office and the office manager says to me as soon as I walk in the door "Holy crap, you look AMAZING!" and it's stuff like that that makes all the hard work worth it. Plus, the fact that I am down another pant size bringing me down to a 12! wow! I haven't been this small for the past two and a half years!
I would like to join this club. I'm currently at 207. I lost 14 pounds and now 5 weeks later have not lost a single pound. Getting frustrated again but trying to stay focused. I walk everyday for 1 hour and sat/sun walk the tread mill for 45min. I'm eating right and drinking less but again have not lost any more weight. Any helpful suggestions would be appreciated.
I'd like to join this club too - I am currently at 247.  I started last monday on a new diet (er, new way of life), I've lost 9 lbs so far (probably mostly water weight).  My goal is around 175, with my mini-goal to be at or below 200 by xmas.
Thanks Beckie...yea the last 5 suck...I may never loose them. This week isn't going to help...dinner tonight with dad. Plans with a buddy tomorrow, going to the State Fair on Saturday...ugh can you hear the calories calling me?? Oh well nothing I cannot work off...having people tell you "You Look Marvelous" really helps too gives you motivation to keep right on going.

Niecy, if you have been working out you might just be gaining muscle it weighs more. If you have noticed your clothes fitting different I wouldn't worry about it. Make sure your water intake is good and keep working out it will come off...make sure you log all your food including dressings, condiments and such as well, they add up too.
My biggest problem is writing down everything that i eat so i cut out the snacks and only have cereal w2% milk, lean cruisine for lunch and fish or chicken for dinner or sometimes a salad. I try to eat fruit during the day and veggies on weekends when i have time to cook. Any more suggestions let me know.
I have a ton of suggestions:

Eat breakfast, eat smaller meals, I eat pretty much all day. Watch your salt in take. Drink water, use your BMR to determine how much you burn off a day subtract that from your calories you burn off and keep that number between 500-800 too much and your body will hang onto it like starvation mode too little and you will maintain. 3500 calories = 1lb of fat. So make sure by the end of the week or two you are -3500 calories and you should see some weight loss. Muscle weighs more than fat so you might be building muscle, fat doesn't turn into muscle, you burn the fat, but build muscle and builds in different body areas.

Here is a scale for knowing what your BMR is:

Use all these they will help!!!
Good job Beckiey8!!  Isn't it fun to have clothing that used to fit or be too small fall off? hehe

Niecy426, make sure you are getting enough calories.  If you are below 1200 or too low for your body, it will go into "starvation mode" and not let go of a single ounce!  I read a post a couple of days ago that said a woman was having the same problem you are, but she wasn't eating enough (sounds funny, doesn't it?).  Anyway, she added a couple hundred calories and she started losing again!

Avacadogirl, welcome.  I started my 'new way of life' a few days ago, and hope to be below 300 before xmas.  Good luck to both of us!!  :P
Niecy..., Instead of writing down things while you eat them (or everyday), I find it easier for me to plan my whole week, go ahead and log it all at one time, print the whole week out and pick up each days sheet that morning and just stick with what I have already planned.

Then if I do have something small, not already listed, I only have to add that one thing.  But I pretty much stick with my list.  (I took a break and got off track, but I'm just starting back on it now and when I look at my past weight logs and food logs, I see that I lost the most poundsthe fastest when I was doing it that way)

Good luck, Tickerbell
Soo I have a question.... Would the V8 cound as a vegie?? ( not the fruit juice) one of my big problems is i dont like fruits and vegies, fruts i can stand the taste but not how they feel in my mough, i have a texture issue... always have. i can cock down a drink before i can eat a serving of peas, does this count or do i need to suck it up?

I think V8 does count....  perhaps as a serving?  I thought it said something about that on the bottle.  I totally understand about the peas!  Perhaps you could make a fruit smoothie to help with that, too.
Shoot if it counts im going to have to try it!! lol I love me some corn but its going to get old. Thanks!
Hey!  I saw a commercial about V8 Splash, and they said it does count as veggies and fruits.  So I would say regular old V8 would definitely count.  That's a good idea... I think I will investigate!  I love corn, too, but yes, it could get old... especially if I cut down on the butter.... :P
I'm more for green, leafy veggies. Broccoli is really good when you dress it up a little.
