Over 200 club!
HI! My name is Laura and i am 5-5 and 235 lbs as of today. I did weigh 240 almot 2 weeks ago. I am counting calories cuz I do not know what ele to do. When i gave birth, I only weighed 201 lbs! My son is 5(his bday is halloween). I cant believe i have put on so much lately. I have high blood pressure so I am on Diovan. I am also on protonix( for heartburn). I took myself off depo provera lat Sept and currently have the IUD, Mirena. Birth control was part of it but that is why I switched to IUD. I am taking it slow, and watching what I eat. I guess I am supposed to stay under 1700 calories and I walked 20 minutes today. I hate exercise now but I have to do it to lose weight the old fashioned Way!

vk- how many pounds have you lost since you started watching ...I mean even before you came on here you lost some weight hadn't you. I'd have to reread the posts from the beginning. So don't think of it as just a 1 pound loss sweetie. Remember we are in this for the long hull. It may be coming off slowly but it is coming off. Keep positive. I know how hard that is to do but we don't want to go backwards now do we? *hugs*
23 pounds altogether...since November. I started at 287, I'm at 264 as of this AM. I have the same concerns...plateaus. This is the spot I have gotten stuck at before and have been my demise. I'm not going to give up the changes I've made but it is aggravating.
I am really trying to stay positive. I'm a fairly positive person by nature. I'm the kind of person who walks into work on a Monday morning with a big grin practically singing Good Morning!!! And I take in all the dirty looks from everyone else who are not that way. LOL!!!

Hi all!! I am down to 228 as of today....something is working...12 lbs total off and more to go! I even had chinese almond chicken yesterday and I didnt even know how many calories were in there. Hope everyone is ok too...

Rockinmama - Thanks for the compliment. I try to be a good Dad. I lost my dad at an early age (He was just 51) so it makes me really want to maximize my time with my kids.
Weighed in at 216.5 this morning. That's down 2 pounds for me from last Monday, so I'm good with that. I'm trying to remind myself it is going to be a long process.

Yes! I jsut checked my BMI again. When I started I was 42.7 now I'm 38.8. It's slowly going down. :) Can't wait until it says just overweight not "severley overweight"

vk - Don't get down. Losing just a little is still losing. Plus, as I told rockinmama, plateaus are okay, it means you're not gaining and a big push for losing is coming up, right?? Just stick with it and....don't get stuck on the numbers! I know easy to say hard to do. Just go by how you feel.
it'smy and everyone else who went away for the weekend, welcome back and I hope all of you had a great time! AND congrats for losing 1 lbs even with camping!
In case you guys haven't noticed, I love to cook and try all kinds of new things. I just discovered another great food combination that I had to share!
Whole wheat english muffins toasted with 2 tbsp of whipped cream cheese (1 tbsp on each side) and slices of cucumbers on top with a little dash of black pepper. Oh yummy! Light and filling all at the same time and it's only 209 calories with some of my citrusy tuna salad and that makes lunch a total of 416 calories. Sounds like a lot but, when you think about all the healthy stuff in meal, it's well worth it!
I think this will be my lunch for the next few days!

So I weighed myself today and the scale told me I gained 1 lb. :(
I thought I was being so good! I was actually looking forward to weighing myself. *sigh*
Anyways - everyday is a new day right? So that's what I'm holding on to - I'm just trying to focus on making good food choices today.

Don't fret over 1lb Serena. It could easily just be water weight or a numdred other things. Keep making the good food choices and you'll be back on track. Besides, sometimes those evil scales lie just to mess with us :)

Yep, it's a great feeling! Makes me want to hurry home and ride my bike some more. I don't want to over do it and burn out cause I know it will take a long time to reach my goal but I want to get back out there while I'm still motivated.

Okay...one of our salesmen was in today and was going to buy lunch...they ended up going to Penn Station to get subs...here is the good part...lol...I came back to the shop and ate my Hormel meal and sliced carrots and drank some water...no soda...no Reese's peanut butter cups...no Philadelphia Cheesesteak sub with onions, mushrooms, and mayo on a toasted bun...:) Man...how I wanted that sandwich...but I did good!! I did have 5 Dunkin' Donuts munchkins which is not that good, but much better than a sandwich from penn Station!! That is my "pat myself on the back" for today!!
Serena, I started taking measurements instead of weighing. The scale just was not helping at all! I am down 1 inch so you might want to try that. The scale is just one way to see if you are losing not the end all be all.
i definitely need to buy a tape measure or somethign so i can do measurements. It's so frustrating to not see the scale move enough as you want it to. As happy as I am to be down 1 pound this week I am still 2 pounds away from losign 8 pounds this month which is where I need to be to reach my 30 pound loss by mid June. I think I really need to kick exercise up a notch which should be easier since I'm going to be in classes much less now (only on campus 7 hours a day instead of like 9 or 10) so I should have mroe energy. At least I hope so! planning to hit the gym tonight and get off to a good start this week.
Congrats on your lower BMI mama! I knwo that is a very discouraging freakin number that I would love to see lowered. even at my goal weight of 150 though it still says I would be slightly overweight! are you kidding! so i would just like it to be as near to healthy as possible. progress is good to hear from everyone!

I am also going to buy a tape measure...I like to get on the scale once a week but I am also interested in inches loss...
Today started out good and ended awful...I walked the dog for 30 minutes and still only had a deficit of 54 calories...lol...I was attacked by Dunkin' Donuts Munchkins...next time someone tells me to bring them home to my kids, I am saying NO...on the other side, I had 2131 calories today but I know how to not have 1210 of them tomorrow...good grief...and I was doing so well!!
Way to go everyone on the successes! Even if you gained a pound or lost nothing or whatever, we are all still on a better path than we were on before we started...how many times a week does everyone tell me to climb back on the wagon when I do poorly...and today was another day of 0% willpower...but I am done eating for the night...I had no soda which is good for me...I denied a fattening lunch which I feel good about...and I drank 88 ounces of water...now if I only I could get rid of the donuts...lol...but they are gone...I threw the rest of them away...nobody needs them in my house!

I sooo did not want to go to the gym tonight but b/c of my fries at lunch I only had 350 cals left for dinner so I figured okay go to the gym and get myself some extra cals for dinner! So I get to have a couple bud lights (220 cals total) and some chicken w/ somethign else for dinner. And it's 8:30 now and I still need to cook! but I'm just glad I actually made myself go to the gym. A couple months ago I would have jsut said F it adn stayed on my fat ass and watched more tv! haha but thank goodness for tivo! Now there is NO EXCUSE to skip teh gym! Just wanted to share my good night. Hope you guys all had a good night too!
