Over 200 club!
HI! My name is Laura and i am 5-5 and 235 lbs as of today. I did weigh 240 almot 2 weeks ago. I am counting calories cuz I do not know what ele to do. When i gave birth, I only weighed 201 lbs! My son is 5(his bday is halloween). I cant believe i have put on so much lately. I have high blood pressure so I am on Diovan. I am also on protonix( for heartburn). I took myself off depo provera lat Sept and currently have the IUD, Mirena. Birth control was part of it but that is why I switched to IUD. I am taking it slow, and watching what I eat. I guess I am supposed to stay under 1700 calories and I walked 20 minutes today. I hate exercise now but I have to do it to lose weight the old fashioned Way!
if you have any suggestions, please tell me....

woohoo vk! I miss being able to see my collarbone! I have noticed though that my face has thinned a little bit even though I've barely lost any weight so that's total incentive to keep it up. I had a couple more drinks than I planned on last night (got there and foudn out it was happy hour prices all night!) but didn't eat anything extra and since I keep a 1000 cal deficit I still came out to about a 500 cal deficit for the day. So not too bad. Now if I can just wake up this morning! I'M OFF IN SEARCH OF COFFEEEEEE!!!!
vk- the Turbo Jam is a set of workout videos that I got from an infomercial. It's put out by the same company that has the Slim in 6. It's really fun and it burns a TON of calories. The website says it can burn up to 700 calories in a 45 minute workout. Sounds like a plan to me...
Okay, no more chinese food talk, y'all - you're putting bad thoughts in my noggin! <G>

ok this collar-bone talk has me thinking....any good exercises to get rid of that horrible double chin?
mama-all i've been doing is cardio a couple times a week and limiting calories and my beginnings of a double chin have vanished. I think the face is one of the first places where the weight loss becomes noticeable.
I was always told to look up at the ceiling and move your jaw up and down. Don't go crazy because that muscle will get soar fast since it isn't used much. I do agree with kt though, the face is one of the first, more noticeable places. Gravity is finally starting to work with me...hence my collar bone. Lol
i just couldn't bear to see this get knocked to the second page!
How's everyone doing today!? I had some yummy progresso soup for lunch but wow it was not the lower sodium one and my sodium levels today are out of the park and it's only 2! that was a shock.:(

I'm with you KT...it's 5 and I'm heading to get my taxes done. Wish me fun!!! Yeah, right...LOL
kt- ya I guess you're right. I'll eventually lose my big double chin. seems when I lose I lose all over at the same time though. Sodium, sodium, sodium....my worst enemy . It always seems to find me and then it stays with me making me swell, especially my ankles. That's got to be the worst part of my body. Swollen ankles. I'd love just for once to have nice slim ankles....lol
vk- I haven't done my taxes yet. Guess I'm gonna be late.

Eh, you've got a couple more weeks rockinmama.
I am in a constant struggle with the almighty sodium as well. To popcorn or not to popcorn, to chip or not to chip.
Did I tell you guys how well my job treats us? On Monday, someone left me a box of truffles on my desk as a thank you. The next day I was greeted in the lunchroom by 3 scrumptious looking strudels (sp?). Today...ah, today...the hardest of them all, a large bag of flavored chips. I'll take my bow now for I did not let even a tiny morsel of any touch these lovely lips of mine. I shutter to think what awaits in the morn'. :P

I was so surprised tonight! I was starving on my way to a dinner prep thing (ironic i know) so I stopped at dairy queen and got a chili cheese dog and fries adn when I got home to enter it I was still within my calories! I start classes again tomorrow (last quarter til I graduate!) so I'm going to cook some chicken and mashed potatoes so I can warm it up for lunch tomorrow. yay!
I want to lose weight so bad, but it seems impossible. I diet for about two weeks then give up. What are some ways you guys stay motivated? Calorie counting is ideal, but I always forget and its really not fun, its pretty tedious. I need someone to push me. Any takers? Someone to keep a check on me. I know this doesnt say much about my independence, but I am really good at following orders, I need guidance. I know I can do it, I have faith. Help!
Count your calories! Be more active any way you can!
haha those kind of orders? I've foudn that after being conscious of how many calories it takes to maintain weight and lose weight it's not as hard to keep with it. I've found it much easeir to make better choices so long as nothign is off limits. I still drink, eat out, all that stuff but am more conscious of what's going into my body. It's not that fun, but it's addictive! this is a great forum to get advice, just talk about your day and yoru choices, adn get ideas on how to make better choices.

Hey everyone, hope you're all doing well.
I need a swift kick.
I'm still pushing back my starting date. I've been eating well, but I just haven't been convincing myself to get out and exercise. Okay, it starts tomorrow.. and I mean it this time. I hope.
Clearly, I know how you feel about the motivation thing, sharpdust. Joining this site was a good start for me, because everytime I'm near a computer I think about it and, as a result, about my regimen. If you want to be encouragement buddies, I'd be glad to help.. and honestly, I need someone to keep tabs on me, too :]. We can do it!
Best of luck to all of you with your busy schedules and weight loss goals!
Jenna

jenna...I know how you feel! I have been trying to log the calories but I go over every day...and it is discouraging. I don't mean to but the lack of willpower and the lack of desire to exercise and everyone bringing food in all the time is tough for me...I have been staying within my maintainng points but not with a deficit enough to lose...and it is nobody's fault but mine...at least I can admit that part...:) Today is my day too...we will do this together...keep each other accountable...I have been too lax and I have to get stronger...
you can do it sharpdust...we all here take falls backwards and then get back on the wagon and go. I did not think counting calories would be any fun either but once you get to entering them every day, it gets kind of addicting. And once you make friends with this bunch of lovely people, you find yourself checking in 5 and 6 times a day...:) So you can do it...:) We are all behind you 100%
Have a terrific day everyone!
itsmy...I let Little Debbie find me last night but I'll be darned if she tracks me down again...she is a smart one...lol :)

I really like this site. It took me about 4 years to do this. So, I totally understand what you guys are saying. What if you just started posting on the food log everything you eat? I mean it is a start even if you are eating too much? Maybe that will help you get in the habit also you won't be able to be in denial of how much you are eating. I have to say, I was shocked when I saw how quick 2,000 calories can add up! At the same time, when I am making the right and healthy choicse they add up a lot slower.
As far as working out goes, I think you just have to do it! I mean if you do it long enough it just becomes a habit. I was really struggling with the binging and overeating but I could excercise so I did 6 days a week. That alone really helped me to trim down and just look and feel better. Finally, the food is following. I think you have to start somewhere. Also, there is a reason you still aren't commiting to this and that is OK. Check out www.overcomingovereating.com It might give you some helpful material. Just do what you can and the rest will follow. So, what if it takes a little longer. You are creating a new life style and trying to get rid of old habits not just lose weight. Start by walking even if it is only for 20 minutes. Any little thing in the right direction is worth it.

Good morning everyone!!
sharpdust - ktcort really said it all. We are all here to help motivate you and give you a nudge in the right direction. The calorie counting has really kept me focused. At first it is a hassle but as tabby said, it gets fun and addicting. I know I check in about 5 or 6 times a day too. I think one of the most important things is you, yourself have to be somewhat self motivated to keep going at it. You gotta wanna do it for you and no one else. We're here for the bad days and the good days. So, good luck! Let us know how you're doing. :)
ktcort - Great advice to sharpdust! I couldn't have said it better myself.
eponajenna - I totally know what you mean about the exercise thing. I've got my calorie counting down, except for the ocassional bad day here and there but, I've yet to start my exercising. I keep telling myself tomorrow, I'll start tomorrow. Yesterday, I told myself, that's it! I'll start it April 1st. I told rockinmama and she's holding me to it...she said she didn't want no April Fool's joke either! hahahaha!
vk - How's those taxes go?? We just finished ours and were pleased with the results.
tabby - That's tough working in an office like that. I used to work in one where everyone brought in food and that's where I gained some weight, a lot of it. Good for you for at least maintaining. At some point, you'll get just say no more and walk away from it. Good luck on turning away those daily temptations. You should give yourself a point system. Everytime you turn away a temptation add a dollar to a jar and use the money you save up for a new outfit or something.
rockinmama - Has anyone today told you, you rock? Thanks for checking in on me about the Slim in 6.
Question...how much does a person's weight fluctuate in a day?? Is it just a few pounds or more...or less?? Just curious.

My weight can fluctuate between 1 and 2 pounds in one day. If I didn't know better, I'd freak out over this when it happens. But I know that more than likely it's water weight. Particularly if my eating is on-target.
Another factor to consider is the monthly cycle. That too can always add a few pounds until its run its course.
Can I just say, I'm thrilled to find my new body! I HAVE HIP BONES!! I'm only 3 pounds away from no longer being a member of this illustriuos club. My weight hasn't been this low since my undergrad (and that's eons ago.)
