HI! My name is Laura and i am 5-5 and 235 lbs as of today. I did weigh 240 almot 2 weeks ago. I am counting calories cuz I do not know what ele to do. When i gave birth, I only weighed 201 lbs! My son is 5(his bday is halloween). I cant believe i have put on so much lately. I have high blood pressure so I am on Diovan. I am also on protonix( for heartburn). I took myself off depo provera lat Sept and currently have the IUD, Mirena. Birth control was part of it but that is why I switched to IUD. I am taking it slow, and watching what I eat. I guess I am supposed to stay under 1700 calories and I walked 20 minutes today. I hate exercise now but I have to do it to lose weight the old fashioned Way!

Good morning...er...late morning everyone!  I hope everyone is having a nice weekend!

wrrly - Wow!  Congratulations!!!  That's beautiful.

itsmy - I know...where have I been hiding right???  Under a crop top!  hahahaha!  You know Crocs are not the prettiest things to put on but, man, they are super comfy!!!

duchess - Great for you for beginning today!!  I'm not diabetic but, my mother is.  I will try to help you any ways I can.  I just know a lot of vegetables and whole grains and small portions.  My mother eats like small meals a day instead of 3 big ones.  That helps keep her insulin level from spiking and exercise.  She plays badminton 3 days a week.  By the way, she's only 5' and 120 lbs.  She developed her diabetes from bad eating habits.  Hours of without food and then HUGE meal when she did it.  Her insulin levels spiked and fell and spiked and fell and eventually it happened long enough to develop diabetes. 

I'm off to being something new myself - Slim in 6!  Wish me luck!  I'll check with everyone later on today!

So I've noticed that when I don't make the conscious effort to keep a water bottle with me all day long, I don't drink nearly as much. So I'm going to keept his 33 ounce bottle with me everywhere I go so I drink at least 2 of them a day and will likely drink even more than 2. That way I know exactly how much water I'm getting. I'm hoping this keeps the mcflurry and fries I had last night from sticking to me! :(

Hey wrrly and duchess!  Wow wrrly, congrats to you!

Duchess, I come from a family full of diabetics and always knew I'd get it eventually.  My last blood test showed I was at the start.  That was very scary and depressing to find out.  I already have peripardum (sp?) cardio myopathy so I hate the prospect of having two very serious problems.   Has your doctor sent you to a nutritionist or has made diet suggestions?  The tools here are very helpful with monitoring your intake levels for pretty much everything.

Okay ladies...about these crocs.  I've seen them and can't seem to see myself actually wearing these things.  Lol  Oh, oh, and I finally picked up those vitamins.  Yeah, yeah...I'm a procrastinator.  ;)

I also want to announce I went for a solo bike ride yesterday for 15 minutes and rode as fast as I could.  Let me tell you, that was so hard to do when you're going against the wind and at some points couldn't even get the darn pedals to go around!!!
wrrly-  You must be so excited...I know I would be.  I'll get there too one day...:) 

Duchess-  not diabetic And I don't know of any in my family except an aunt married to my Dad's brother.  But Still can help out as much as I can.  I have heard that 6 small meals is better then three big ones though as hyechong said....keeps you're sugar level consistent.  A nutritionist would be a good idea.  Oh and I do have a friend who is diabetic...I'll ask her some questions.  Welcome aboard our board...lol  :)

vk-  Boy it must have been really windy...lol.  That's good though, probably burnt double the calories...heeehee

hyechong-  must admit I haven't seen these crocs yet but they sound comfortable.  I'll have to google them to see what they are. :)  Oh and yes....Soooo Slim in 6.....you are doing it eh?????? Check in and let us know how it went.  :)

katie-  Good for you with the water drinking.  Keep it up girl. Good idea to carry the bottle with you.
Thought I would join in. I started at 303 and I've lost 15lbs. Such a long way to go. But I feel pretty hopeful and I'm grateful for this sight. Anyone want to add me as a friend that would be welcome. Thanks
Hi blue.  15 lbs! that's great....a very good start and not really that long to go.  Just stick with us and we'll help you through this as you help and motivate us too.  Welcome! Wow I just checked your profile and added you as friend.  That's 15 lbs in one month.  Awesome girl.  Keep it up eh? :)
blue - that is great!  15 in one month!  I'm jealous!  I'm going into week four and I'll see what the scale says tomorrow morning.

katie - gulp, gulp!  Lots of water!  That's what I do.  Water is about the only thing I drink.

Earlier someone mentioned that they might stop drinking alcoholic drinks to help them lose even more weight, I don't remember who it was but, I can speak from personal experience.  I stopped drinking alcoholic drinks and I lost twenty pounds like nothing.  Although, I did gain it back because I wasn't careful but, drinking adds a lot more weight than you realize, especially beer.  Also, you'll notice that your face will de-fluff.  I didn't realize it but, my face was sooo bloated from drinking.  I wasn't drinking a lot but, I was drinking regularly.  Anyways, now I ocassionally have a glass of red wine or two but, that's about it.  I'm no longer puffy, fluffy or bloated in the face.

vk - Just try on a pair and walk around the store.  You'll see what I mean...!

rockinmama - you're gonna love the crocs so much...they great thing is they're non-slip! 

I feel like a walking endorsement for the company!  Hahahaha!

Alright everyone - I did my Slim in 6 workout today.  I huffed, puffed, bended and stuck my butt out.  Actually, really wasn't that bad.  You don't realize how much you're actually working until later.  I'm a little bit sore tonight but, it's a good kind of sore.

So, I would like all of you guys to witness ....vk and rockinmama said that for every time I do my Slim in 6, they are going to get on the treadmill and gazelle, whichever it is that they have.  (They didn't say that exactly but, eluded to it!) Can I get someone to witness??

Hmmm...vk and rockinmama, aren't you glad you put me on your friends list??  :)
okay, gotta confess. I've lost 15 lbs actually in two months. I lost like 8 of it before I started here and then I wanted to have my actual start weight so I went back and edited it in. They wouldn't let me put an earlier date so anyway. Wish I was losing that fast,lol. Thanks all.

Blue...15 pounds in one month...congrats!  We are always here for support, a listening ear, etc...

Crocs...I have never worn a pair and frankly, I think they are ugly but that will not keep me from buying a pair because of how often I hear how comfy they are...:)  If they are like wearing slippers, count me in...I hate shoes...would wear socks or slippers all the time if I could...

Tomorrow is "Official Start Over Day...Again"...and I am ready...need to better my health, mostly...but I want to be thinner...look better...feel better...so tomorrow...walking with the dogs (take one to walk one day and the other the next and alternate) for 40 minutes...going to try to stick to 1350 calories...no snacking...no Little Debbie (and man does she haunt me at 2am)...I need to do one week of no cheating...walking daily...and see how I can do...not worried about the water...I manage at least 70 ounces a day...but I will be here for support...I am going to need it...I set myself up for failure every time without even knowing I do it...so be ready for lots of my reports...lol...if I get to be too much, tell me to shut up or write a journal...lolol...

Going to buy some colored paperclips and treat tomorrow as Day 1...even going to erase all of my other food logs and activity logs and start fresh...I can do this...we can all do this!!  I know I am the only one starting over again tomorrow but we can all make this a good week whether we have had 3 or 8 or 12 good weeks previous...:)

Okay...if I work an office job but I get up and down a lot due to working attached to a warehouse...and only walk 40 minutes a day should I log my activity as sedentary?  Or light?  I have it as sedentary right now...which is what I think...but what does everyone else think?



Okay...this has nothing to do with the actual diet part of losing weight but will someone please let me know where you can find the little weight loss ticker at the bottom of most people's profiles...I want one...lol...

I know I say it a lot...but everyone here is incredible...love you all...you keep me going every day!!!
Tabby-  ok look up at the top of this page.  See where it says forums, journal,friends, mailbox, profile, pictures and Ticker   ......lol there you go. click on it and follow directions.  Don't worry, it took me awhile to find it too at first...lol.  I'd put it as sedentary...your activity....unless you are adding exercise to that.  So all set tabby?  Away you go startin fresh.  Yay tabby!

hyechong-  Well , I didn't do the gazelle but I did go for a walk/run with my hubby.  I call it a run cause I'm running almost to keep up to his long legs....does that count? 

Blue- 1 month, 2 months whatever.....still very impressive to me. that's still 7 1/2 pounds a month....awesome.
im very proud of myself tonight! I went to a hockey game and I knew I would be getting somethign to eat there so I jsut had a small bit for lunch. Then at the game I ahd a beer (haha i know i said i wasn't gonna drink much) and chicken tenders w/ fries and guess what?! I'm still under 300 calories for today! I'm so happy!  but i left my water bottle in the freezer at work todya so its going to be frozen tomorrow :(

O and I must say I think the crocs are hideous lol but i'm all for comfort!
tabby----good for you for your fresh start!!  it sounds like you are all ready for the am!!!  I agree with rockin--i put sedentary on mine as well b/c i'm so inconsistent about my workouts, even though i walk around all day at work.  I didn't think I'd lose weight at the light activity level.  I wanted to go as conservative as possible! 

can't wait to hear how you are doing!!!!  and as far as Little Debbie ....tell her to leave you alone!!  Her picture on that box is sooooo deceiving!  She looks so sweet and innocent!!  (my best friend used to tell me...Little Debbie is actually my real best friend..she doesn't make me accountability...lol)

tomorrow is official weigh in (reminder last week was 1 pound gain...gosh, that was like on page 12 of this thread!!!) It's been 1 month since we started this challenge and I found all my new friends here!!

and I am rolling at all the attention to the Crocs!!  hyechong--you definitely need compensation from the company!!!! (the funniest part is that this one store has decided to quit carrying them, so they are 1/2 price off...I bought my daughter 3 pairs for her birthday tomorrow!!)
rockinmama - Of course walking...er...running with your husband counts.  Anything that's more than what you usually do!  Like the days you work cleaning houses, no workout necessary on those days!

Okay you guys - I know they're ugly...but, I tell you those CROCS ROCK!  At first, I thought they were hideous---HID-DE-US!  Until I put them on, now, I think 'Oh, they're cute!'  Hahahaha!!  It's all about perception.  I'm serious try on a pair take a couple of steps and you'll just buy them and never want to wear anything else.  I'm gonna take a picture of my cute little Crocs and post the photo.  They're especially great if you have wide feet (like my EEE's).  Anyways...enough free endorsement for the company on my end!  But, just try them...!  ahahahaha!!!

I discovered a new trick today and I had to share, of course!

I made these low fat, low cholesterol, low sugar Oat Banana Muffins the other day.  Boy were they good they didn't taste like they were low whatevers!  Each muffin is about 189 calories which isn't bad but, isn't great.  So, today, I made a second batch (yes, second) and instead of using the regular muffin pan, I used my little mini muffin pan.  The regular recipe for 12 turned magically into 48.  I felt really indulgent eating 2 or 3 of the little ones while not getting the same calories as one regular sized one!  Now, I've gotta try that with lots of other things!

VK - See everything small.  Small plate, small muffins...hmm...small bum?
i am the same way about small plates, etc.....anything to help trick my mind!!!  and speaking of smaller....

official week 4 weigh in.....5.5 pounds lost this week!!!  woohooo!!!!!!!!  i guess my body finally decided that i was serious so it could let go of those pounds!  cuz i didn't change anything!!!

so, that is a total of 11 pounds for the month of March!!!  whew.....(of course, hubby still in the leading with 7.1 % gone, and me with 4.9%) 

this is a good day...even though I have to go back to work after being off for spring break!!!

Today was beginning day again and I weighed in at 226...at least this is what I weighed in at 2 weeks ago as well so I did not gain more...but I am ready...I have the lunchbox packed...breakfast, lunch, snack, water...:)  Tonight is a 2 mile walk with one of the dogs...tomorrow the other dog will get to go...can't walk them both at once...puppies want to play and fight and trip mommy...lol...not just walk...:)

and a greateful hello to all the new friends I have made.  I appreciate you all so much.

Congrats to all those doing well and those showing up to do well.  I went up a tiny bit but it will go away this week so trying not to get discouraged.  Do any of you have any tricks to not gain 2 + pounds before that time of the month?

I love the trick of smaller erverything, like the muffins.  I am horrible about wanting 2 or 3 instead of one.  Thanks for the trick idea.
Oh I can see what kind of day this is gonna be...:(  My husband took the car to work today because we have an important meeting to attend after sundown tonight and he wanted tobe sure the truck wouldn't break down and make him late for it.  So I said hey...no problem...trucks been working really good for me lately...I'll take the truck since I only have one job to do today and it's not that far.  Big Mistake!!!!!  Guess what decided to break down...so now I had to call a friend to see if she could drive me to work....then I had to call my client to tell her I am coming but will be late.  My friend will pick me up to bring me back home when I'm done (very nice friend by the way:))  Oh and to top all this....am I rambling....heeehee.  ON the way back into the house To go phone my client and friend.....I flipped out on our wet wooden walkway....eeesshhh.  Hopefully the rest of the day is going to turn out better.  I'm starting to think I should just go back to bed and stay there until tonight...lol.

hyechong- still want to do some exercise at least 3 times a week even when I work because my body is getting used to that and I have to keep it guessing as to what I'm doing...lol   Gotta fool my body or it will plateau and I'm not ready to go there. Like the idea of smaller muffins same cals.  You're fooling your mind....heeehee Whatever works eh?

katie- So how was the hockey game....did your team win?  Good for you on only one beer.  I didn't say quit cold turkey.  You need a treat once in awhile..lol.

I wasn't able to post, this weekend. Went to Church for Palm Sunday, then invited my children for dinnner. We grilled steaks, baked potatoes, and apple pie. No .......I had no will power. But got up first thing this morning and walked. And I'll be doing 20 minutes of exerising with dvd this afternoon. So I'm not going to punish myself, just regroup. I'm going to Mass again tonight, because it's Holy Week. So I'll ask God for lots of help while I'm there. He helped me quit smoking, so I'll ask for help on losing weight. I bet he's a bit tired of me by now.LOL I'm glad you What to go It's my time, I'm glad you're finally losing the weight. I hope that happens for me, I need the insentive to keep pushing.  Take care everyone.
Well, I'm finally getting around to checking in and I had a lot of catching up to do!  Congrats to all of those who have done so well with their losses!  And welcome to all of the newbies!

I feel like last week was AWFUL!  I started back on "the pill" last Sunday and it was the first time I've been on the pill in years.  Well, after being on it for a week I've decided to stop it because I feel like a totally out of control crazy lady!!!  My poor husband has been on a roller coaster ride called "crazy hormonal witch" and I've been craving food like there's no tomorrow and not being extremely smart with my food choices.  Not to mention, I felt sluggish and only worked out ONCE last week.   I just couldn't get motivated.  It was terrible!  Thankfully I only gained 1 pound from the whole experience, but that isn't great to gain a pound in a week!

So, enough's enough... those stinkin' pills are in the trash as I type this!  Today is a fresh start, right? 

Oh, for those who were talking about logging activity - I don't do it either.  It takes too much time, and I'm lucky to have the time to log my calories!

Keep up the good work, y'all, and I hope to have more time to keep up on the posts this week!
