I took myself off depo provera lat Sept and currently have the IUD, Mirena. Birth control was part of it but that is why I switched to IUD. I am taking it slow, and watching what I eat. HOORAY for Imhoff!!!  I hit the 199 mark last week and it was WONDERFUL!!!

Welcome to the club!!!

Just think, your next goal should be to get to the 180s.  And it's so close now.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Congrats to both of you on reaching the 100s!

And hi to everyone else.

Glad to find a forum where not everyone is under 200. I was 260 several years ago and that was scary as I only weighed about 198 after my son was born 9 years ago (Christmas).  I got down to 225 and I'm not sure how but as of last January that's where I was. In June I was 176 and only got there by not eating much at all. I bet some days my calories were around 200-400.  Started eating again and here I am. On 4/2 I joined Jazzercize and weighed 214.8.  I weighed in 4/9 and was 215.6 how depressing but found out when I got home it was TOTM.  Weighed in again this morning and it was 209.8.  I'm very excited. I'm trying to keep my calories to under 1600 and have managed to do so the last three days since joining here.  I plan my meals on here and adjust as necessary before I actually start making it.  I've never measured my food before but I found it helps.  My goal is 155 because my hubby does not want me too skinny. I'm 5'3 and I realize that my BMI might still be high but I'll decide what to do then.  My current step goal is to lose another 10-15 by May 21st so I can wear my pretty pink sundress out for my birthday.  Oh I walked my first 3 miles today!Cool

Well, hello all!  I am sooo glad to see that this thread is still around!!!  Wow!  It's been over a year since I posted! I remember seeing people type in those wonderful words .." I hit 199"  (just like on this page..and congrats to those..I can't wait to get to know you)  I want to type in those words!!  I weighed in at 247 this morning.  1 pound away from my highest.  I don't want to get to my highest!!  or worse....

I know this thread is sooo great for motivation.  so, I am back!  I have a new nic for a new beginning.

Thanks...and cheermom, good for you for walking your 3 miles.  I got to move my body!

hi everyone. Kiss just wanted to check in since I have been out of commission for a few days. Went to the hospital for a random NST and ended up with them keeping me for a few days. Frown they told me my BP and sugar were high Embarassedand the amniotic fluid was too low so I was put on straight bed rest till yesterday.so now I am trying to get use to this diabetic diet and man I feel like am supposed to be continuously shoving food in but only bites at a time and its just very different, and takes some getting used to. Undecided I now have to test my sugar 5 times a day. I feel like a pin cushion.  on top of it all I spent three days of getting lectured by the specialist of how I need to make sure my weight comes off after the baby comes or I am seeting my self up for type II diabetes afterward. I tried to convince him I knew this and was working towards getting the weight off before I got pregnant but He was just hammering in my head how I needed to loose it.Tongue out I am starting to think that either someone is trying to tell me something loud and clear or people think that I don't seem to know just how big a girl I am. Innocent oh well Gotta catch up on my homework I missed now. TTYL

hello everyone. great news on the 199 mark.  I have not been posting because I have hit a plateau.  At first, I thought if I don't talk about it it would go away.  BUT NO!  So now it's been 3 weeks and I'm getting frustrated.  It's too early for me to hit a plateau.  I don't know what to do.  Maybe lower my calories or add an extra day to work out.  I just don't know if it would work.  I NEED HELP!

Hey ase_t- That's great you under the 200 mark...awesome and WTG. As for the plateau...can't help you cause I've been on one for over 6 months. Just be patient I'm told and try different things to keep your body guessing...so that's what I'm doing. I shift between 218 - 220lbs. But I'm still trying. I have a treadmill now so am hoping that will move things a little. Keep your chin up and congrads to you. :)
Where is everybody?  I had to look on page 4.

I'm not under the mark.  I was telling that to other people.  Sorry rockin for the confusion.

if your having trouble with plateau's then there are a few thing that you can do to overcome them. As rmama said you have to keep your body guessing. There are a number of weighs to do this like using bigger weights or doing alot more reps. Pushing yourself to do cardio longer each week helps. One of the easiest things that i know is drink alot more water and eat spicy food. Spicy food and water raises your metabolism. Everything that i eat has to have hot sauce i didnt use to like it and it burned my moth but now i cant eat without getting a good heat sweat going. I hope these tips help you out.

Everybody else lets hear those warrior cries as we cross over towards our goals.

I would like participate in this treadI am 66 years old, 5'5" currently 220 started 2 weeks ago at 224.  I have been heavy most of my life.  During my high school years lost it when attracted to boys.  Kept it off until I married and had our first child.  Never lost it before our second child came along.  I Yo-yoed for 10 years, after 3ed child I started a good long term goal and got it off again, so twice i have lost 70 lbs.  I did not put it on over night, just 3 to 5 lbs a year. Well I need to do it again and I am on my way.  I feel extraordinarily motivated and determined to do it again. I really like this site, when I did it before i basically used the calorie method and believe it is the one for me.  Every time I have tried gimmick diets I would get hungery for certain foods and end up caving. Counting calories allows you to eat all food groups.  Good luck to all and lets get this done

Welcome supernan and hi to everyone else. Things are pretty slow around here these days. Everyone must be like me, keeping busy, and enjoying the spring weather. Or busy with spring chores.

My progress is getting slow, but I'm still losing, little by little. It's trying my patience, but at least I'm not gaining. Or even really on a plateau. I'm just the typical American, looking for instant gratification. But the weather has been nice for my daily walks, and I've started wearing a heart rate monitor to prevent it from becoming a daily stroll.

I do think counting calories is ultimately the way to go. But I also think that this site really helps us to see the choices we make for what they are. Before when I counted calories, I would eat lots of those frozen entrees (Lean Cuisine, etc.) and salads. Now I can see that while those packaged foods might help teach me portion control, they offer high sodium and relatively low nutrition. Combined with the salads I was eating, I was getting too few calories, and really not a well balanced diet.

man where has everybody gone i guess some people have lost that motivation that cc give you . WELL im here to tell you that you can do it and we all need tat support that comes from talking to friends. friends that lose together are friends forever.

It is not because I have less motivation, it is because I have been busy with yard work, cleaning up the farm and, working and trying to get the house back in order.  I feel this is very important to me and I will not give up sometimes I just need to get other things done too and not spend so much time on here.

We all have plenty of things going on.  Imhoff, I don't think Jon meant to sound so judgemental, sometimes things come across wrong when you're typing them.  I get misunderstood a lot b/c I have a wierd sense of humor.

So today is my due date and no baby.  I expected it, but dang it, it's depressing waking up every morning and realizing that I'm still not in labor.  Ready for this to be done already.

Feeling big as a freakin house. Hurts my knees to get up and down all day, ready for this to be OVER!

Hi all.  I haven't lost motivation jon...but thanks for caring!  This is busy time of year as school year winds down.  I'm making better decisions daily.  One change at a time.  I need to move my body and drink water.  two weak points of mine.  one day at a time....

sara~~ any baby?  maybe she is at hospital as i type.

thanks to all for support.

No baby...he can't stay in there too much longer, right?

Goody!  Goody!  A baby!  I hope you have an easy delivery, sara~.

Jon, I'm still here too.  It's just that my cold-weather habit of spending too much time on the computer has been replaced with getting outside and doing yard work, gardening, and walking and playing as much as I can in the fresh air!  Woo hoo!

I still visit CC several times a day to log my meals and snacks but I haven't been taking as much time to check the forums.  Spring is in the air and it just doesn't seem right sitting inside typing.  I do that enough at work all day!  Ick!

Keep up the good healthy habits everyone!

tracester, first of all, congratulations on taking that first step toward a healthy, new you.  As someone who's gone from 400 pounds to 195 (and still counting!), the one thing I want to emphasize with you is that you have to make this a lifestyle change and not just another diet.

I think I might be able to answer your question about weekly weight loss.  For those of us on the very obese side, we are carrying around a lot of excess water.  When I first started eating healthy and low-cal (1,200 calories per day), for the first two months I was dropping anywhere from 5 to 12 pounds per week (17 pounds in one week was my all-time high).  Then it slowed down to 3 to 7 pounds per week.  After I lost my first 100 pounds, the numbers dropped to a normal and healthy 1.5 - 2.5 pounds per week.  Now that I'm below 200 pounds and closer to my goal weight, I have more solid fat to lose and it's coming off very slow -- about a half pound a week now.

After I lost my first 100 pounds, I felt good enough to go to the gym.  Much to my dismay, I gained back a few pounds, but what I found out is that I gained muscle weight and lost inches.  At this time, I was also able to increae my calorie intake to around 1,400 calories per day.

Don't pay any attention to shows like The Biggest Loser where they lose enormous amounts of weight every week.  Those contestants have dieticians and trainers working with them 8 - 12 hours per day.  The experts will tell you that a healthy weight loss is 1.5 to 2 pounds per week.

One thing I think many of us can agree on here is that we want the weight off NOW!  I have a feeling that based on your question, you are wanting to lose as much weight as you possibly can as fast as possible.  At the moment, patience (or the lack thereof) is my biggest enemy.   It took me 16 months to lose 200 pounds.  I guess I can wait another 6 - 12 months for those last 50 pounds to come off!  Foot in mouth

As an FYI, this may seem strange but in order to get rid of the excess water in your body, you need to drink more water.  You should drink enough water so that your urine is a very pale (almost clear) yellow.  At 300 pounds, if you watch your water intake and are honest about your calories, you should see fairly large weight loss numbers for the first few weeks.  But, even if you see only 1 or 2 pounds lost per week, it's still a step in the right direction!
