Over 200 club!
HI! My name is Laura and i am 5-5 and 235 lbs as of today. I did weigh 240 almot 2 weeks ago. I am counting calories cuz I do not know what ele to do. When i gave birth, I only weighed 201 lbs! My son is 5(his bday is halloween). I cant believe i have put on so much lately. I have high blood pressure so I am on Diovan. I am also on protonix( for heartburn). I took myself off depo provera lat Sept and currently have the IUD, Mirena. Birth control was part of it but that is why I switched to IUD. I am taking it slow, and watching what I eat. I guess I am supposed to stay under 1700 calories and I walked 20 minutes today. I hate exercise now but I have to do it to lose weight the old fashioned Way!

thank so much for the ideas I do have a few of those 100 cal snacks collecting dust in the cupboard. The oreo ones of coarse. I just feel like a failure even when I know its possible because I did it before. Maybe this hurdle will be a good reminder when I start contiously losing instead of yoyo-ing to work as hard keeping it off as I do trying to get it off. Thanks again I do feel a little better.
I actually went out and bought a couple of dance cd's....the beat really makes me move...lol My daughter got me hooked on it...drives poor hubby insane though so I exercise when he's not around...heehee
well iam not that good at dancing but I love music and got 4 teenagers in the house so we are in music heavan. the kids get a kick out of watching mom dance
Yes mabear you said it...You did it before...you can and will do this again. Small steps....that's what we always say to Hyechong...lol...but we need to do it too and not be so hard on ourselves. Hey we're worth it and one day we'll be walkin' and some young guys are gonna whistle....heehee. And all our struggles will be worth it. And mabear I read your profile again....you have 5 kids? hey you work it all off everyday girl...when ever you need us we're just a post away...:) In this together we are!
yeah you would think I would have to run around in the shower to get wet thin lol. but truth is I don't watch myself as well as I should and if I make them brownies I feel I need to polish them off so they don't get cavities or some thing. oh well This talk helped alot I don't feel like raiding their leftover or unliked easter candies
Hey mabear. Another possibility for before dinner-I hardly ever eat what I make for the family. My husband doesn't want to eat turkey burgers and such (he's big on red meat) so I usually eat earlier(he doesn't get home til almost 7 and I don't want to eat that late) I try to eat something simple (sometimes a lean cuisine if I haven't been eating a lot of sodium already) I know that wouldn't work for some people, but it works for me because I'm not hungry while I'm making food I shouldn't eat. As far as brownies go-oh my! I love brownies so much I could never bake them and not eat them. Keep at it-you can do it!
Hi everyone and wtg on all your weight losses! I posted on the 200 club in the weight loss forum but I like this 200 club for the motivation. I am female, 47 and 314
pounds. I have had crohn's disease since I was 17 and was on and off
prednisone (steroids) for many years. Because of my health problems...
crohn's, morbidly obese (the name in itself is embarrassing lol), high
blood pressure and high cholesterol, I decided to quit my job and
concentrate on my health. Although I was able to maintain my weight at
270 for about 5 years, I had a 46 pound weight gain when I quit
smoking. Having the smoking out of the way, I am now ready to lose
weight. I am of the mindset, as most of you are, that eating healthy
and counting calories is the route to go. I look forward to losing
weight with all of you!
catsrkids2- Crohn's is a very painful disease...I have a nephew who's brother has suffered with it for years. Good for you on quitting the smoking. That in itself is quite an accomplishment. You're welcome here anytime....we'll motivate you as much as you will us I'm sure....won't we girls and guys.

ya know, with y'all talking about music....how about a MP3 player??? My son has a very cool one...mine? one that is older (only 1 year..) but it's great!!! I can do some serious treadmill walking jamming to my 80's music!!!! (yes, I just aged myself!!) then, no one is disturbed by my music. (of course, I workout early in the am so no one wants to hear my music!!!)
although I think I would like to go get a dance cd. that would be fun. My daughter is in a "clogging" class and her routines are to "That old time rock and roll" and "walk like an Egyptian", now I'm here to tell you...those are some fast moving songs!!! I dance around with her and practice. I'm pooped!!!!!
I've actually thought about taking the adult class in the fall! (wow...just a little more confidence!!)
ohh, and i love the idea of having veggies or 100 cal snack ready while cooking...b/c i am also a grabber as i cook!!!

just wanted to update I finally stopped crying . I like the idea of eating earlier and it probably wouldn't hurt the kids to have a few less brownies or cookies. I went to the laundromat cause my heating element in the dryer broke and it was like a sauna there so I must have melted a little something off. lol I am having my four year olds b day party tommorrow and I am having my boyfriend bring me a nice chicken salad while every one else eats bbq & cake and ice cream. I am a little panicked but I am trying to have a plan in place I have fresh fruit for breakfast already and tons of water and coffee. :) Gave up cigs 2 years ago refuse to part with my coffee=} I will let you guys know 2morrow nite or monday how things go!!!!
I also will not give up my coffee...no way....need my caffiene fix to keep me going and sometimes when I'm hungry...I'll have a coffee and it will do the trick. I just have an extra glass of water either before or after my coffee. You'll do fine tomorrow mabear....chicken salad sounds yummy and bring your oreo snacks in case you get a sweet tooth. Have it with your coffee.
itsmy- I'd love to get an MP3 player...my daughter just bought an IPOD but I can't afford that. An MP3 is quite a bit cheaper and it holds quite enough for me.

i just went to the store and had to share all this great stuff i found w/ you all!
i got:
ruffles light cheddar and sour cream chips : 75 cals per 15 chips
jello: always yummy and like 10 cals
sugar free caramel ice cream: 80 cals per 1/2 cup
100 cal hostess cupcakes: 100 cals per 3 mini cupcakes (they are small but do the trick)
popcorn: like 130 cals per bag!
wow i'm like so excited b/c i just bought a bunch of junk food but it's all low cal! i can get a quick snack adn not feel guilty about it. anyone else found good low cal snacks or foods like taht?

Welcome Cats!!! I am with you on the smoking thing!! I am 2 1/2 years clean myself and going strong! I gained about approx 65 pounds myself. But being here on C-C and choosing to have an alternative eating lifestyle I have been dropping the weight! I just checked out calorieking.com. Some of the inter-active stuff on there is pretty cool. I especially liked the "Create a Meal" feature where you pick a fast food restauraunt and fill up your tray with different items and then they tell you how many calories are in what you chose. Some of your choices will surprise you. I was particularly surprised by the Starbucks chocolate cream cheese muffin that I used to buy a couple of times a week when I was still working. OMG, IT WAS 450 CALORIES!!!!!!!!! Glad I moved far, far away from any Starbucks'!
They also have a way to figure out your Body Mass Index. Interesting ... but when the words morbidly obese came up, I lost interest!
All in all, I think Calorie-Count.com is a much kinder and gentler site. Thanks, of course, to people like all of you. I'm glad I found you!

I will not give up coffee either. In fact, it goes on the top of my card for calories everyday. I use a 3X5 card that I can carry with me to track on each day. To get my mocha cappachino fix I use 1 part coffee(5 calories), 2 parts water, 1 Tbsp of hot cocoa mix(40 calories), 1Tbsp sugar free cream(30 clalories), and 2 Tbsp slenda. It comes out to 75 calories and is almost 32 ounces of yummy. I sip on it all morning long.
It may sound boring but I use the flavored rice cakes as a 100 caolorie snack too. The prepacked stuff is usually too expensive for our budget but a pack of rice cakes is $1.84 at the walmart. If you get the white cheddar, they are 45 caolories each, the carmel and the apple flavors are 50 calories each. 2 of them in a little baggie on the go is a huge snack. and you get the crunch and sweet if you are needing that. The white cheddar flavor gives you a little salt if you need that.
My husband and I went out to dinner for the second weekend in a row and we made great choices. I estimated my dinner at @800 calories and his at @1000. I still had 200 left when I got home. We had coffee and 2 little chocolates before bed. It was great. I am looking forward to weighing in.....

i am with you girls on those snacks. The Ruffles light, Lays light, etc...have been a blessing!! We eat sandwiches 1-2 x/s a week with the light bread, turkey, lettuce, must...ect.... so those chips make my husband and me feel so "normal" and "non dieting" (even though I can't stand the word diet) You get anywhere from 17-20 chips and they taste JUST LIKE REGULAR!!

Hy all just wanted to let every one know that after a completely horrible day yesterday and of course a fluctuation in my weight (3LBS)rrrgh!!!! I am back on track and not gonna let this bday party get the best of me I will keep u posted.

day one: up,
day two: up further,
day three: back down where I started,
day four: one or two new pounds lost.
At least that's what it seems like. I'm worried though, if I wait a week, I won't be able to make calorie and exercise adjustments along the way and I'll gain FIVE POUNDS. YIKES!!!
Central NY weather report: Woke up to 2 inches of snow. Supposed to get 2 FEET before it ends! My poor daffodils :(

it's going to be hard to stick to my cals these next few days and months. My sis got engaged last night. I"m happy for her of course, the guy is awesome, he's been a great influence on her girls. But I'm w/ a guy who can't make that commitment. A couple months ago I told him I didn't want to live together anymore since he couldn't tell me that he wanted to get married. So as happy as I am for her, it just makes me that much more upset about my relationship. It really really sucks. I foudn out this morning and knew it was going to be a starbucks venti day. so here i am at work w/ my venti latte (nonfat of course), wishing I could go to mcdonalds for breakfast :(
