HI! My name is Laura and i am 5-5 and 235 lbs as of today. I did weigh 240 almot 2 weeks ago. I am counting calories cuz I do not know what ele to do. When i gave birth, I only weighed 201 lbs! My son is 5(his bday is halloween). I cant believe i have put on so much lately. I have high blood pressure so I am on Diovan. I am also on protonix( for heartburn). I took myself off depo provera lat Sept and currently have the IUD, Mirena. Birth control was part of it but that is why I switched to IUD. I am taking it slow, and watching what I eat. I guess I am supposed to stay under 1700 calories and I walked 20 minutes today. I hate exercise now but I have to do it to lose weight the old fashioned Way!
if you have any suggestions, please tell me....

Hey everyone I'm just starting my CC diet today :) Hopefully I will be able to check back soon with good results! I'm 280 as of now so I have a long way to go.

Congradulations on everyone who is losing! And if you're in a slump, don't give up. Food is not more important than your happiness and health!
Aww...you guys are great!  I'm okay.  I know better.  I should of thought about it when I was eating those hot dogs and poutine this weekend.  If you guys don't know what poutine is, it's a plate of french friends with cheese curds and brown gravy on top!  Hahaha!  Yeah, I know.  No wonder I gained weight.

I figured I would be okay because I didn't go too much over my calories but, the salt did me in!  Oh, well.  I know for next time.  I can not lie, it was soooo good!

Oh, I got skipped to another page and now, I can't remember everyone's name to comment.

Alright...to the person that lost a friend.  I'm sorry to hear that.  It's like what V (I think?) said, emotional eating gets the best of us sometimes.  As long as your back with us, that's fine.

Congratulations on all the people who lost and welcome to all the newcomers.

As for the that show about people who weighed over 300+ lbs.  I watched a show that was similar about people who eat about 33,000 calories a day.  It was definitely an eye opener and a HALF!!  Scared me straight too!  Especially with the extra gain this week.

well, hye, if you were going to gain back a pound, eating something good was a good way to do...atleast you aren't kicking yourself for gaining when you ate a bunck of junk.  Just think, you are back on track and it will come off and in the future, you just might eat a plate of poutine again but you will know that it has a consequence...

welcome jack...

tahnks for such encouraging words...blue.  we will make this happen.  I keep that picture of me when I weighed 362 handy so I can remind myself of what I am capable of doing...ugggggg!!!
I'm new to calorie count. I just recently started my journey(that sounds so corny LOL) but anyway I haven't been as motivated as I was when I first began and its really bothering me. Now it is so hard for me to resist the temptation when before it wasn't and I'm not as motivated to exersize. I don't know what to do to increase my morale.

Any suggestions???
well i got on the scale this morning and lost 1.5 pounds my first week along with the 7 3/4 inches!!  I really like theinches better i mean it is fron 7 areas so its not really alot but i want the weight to come off faster and that was kind of dicouraging, but i will keep plugging away.  Im glad i do inches as well cause it shows more progress!!

Thanks everyone who welcomed me to the group, and congrats to all with their sucess for the week!!  Also congrats to all who feel like they re in slumps i dont like to use that word cause the scale is really just a number but congrats to keep plugging away thats even harder to stay focused at least it is for me, i really suggest everyone measure to it really makes u feel better every 1/4 inch!!

hugzzzzzzzzzz to all
Hi jack, welcome aboard.

hye, I discovered that I can go back to previous pages while I'm posting by scrolling to where the page numbers are and clicking on the page I want.

33,000 calories! Wow that doesn't even seem possible does it?
Thanks for the welcomes :)
Blue-that was a great tip about being able to view other pages while posting.  I always run into that problem too!  Ya learn something new everyday!!!  Such a cliche...I know..I know...  LOL

Hi Jack-did you get that name from short on The Incredibles???  Here's to seeing 279 for ya Jack!

Hi truth-I know...I thought it sounded corny when I first used that phrase too, but as you'll see...I'm pretty corny half the time so nobody ever noticed.  Lol  Besides, that's how it feels.  You're in the right spot for motivation.  Someone is always on a high and someone is inevitably on a low.  A suggestion we use around here a lot is to try to do things in little steps.  If you don't feel up to exercising yet, then do something else, switch it up.  Switch a food, or switch your times of eating or switch the type of exercise.  Someone back a few pages ago suggested taking a walk with your cell phone and calling a friend to pass the time as you walk.  Little steps can make all the difference...and it's easier to get through the changes if the changes aren't that drastic.

And Chris-CONGRATS on your 1.5!!!
Hey I'm back from my brisk walk!  It's a gorgeous day out and very windy!  I was wearing my husband's windbreaker, more as a light coverup and I thought I was going to fly away like a kite.  Next time I'll try find the direction to all you guys and fly away to your houses like Mary Poppins!  Hahahaha!  I just got a funny image of me in the big blue windbreaker!!  Hehehe!  Ah, the endorphins are flowing!

Jackattack - Welcome, welcome!  Check back as often as you'd like even if the results are not good.  It helps to just let out the frustration so you don't end up taking huge steps backwards.

Ginny - You are so right.  Now, I don't know if it was worth a pound but, I'm glad it wasn't something like liver and onions (I absolutely don't like these).  Yes, consequences, I'm learning that as well.  It's amazing the things you learn when you start paying attention.

truthpoet - Welcome!  As V said, even though it sounds corny, we are all here for you.  I have to say that I was a skeptic when I first learned about online weightloss support groups.  I said to myself, it probably doesn't even work.  Well, guess what.  It works.  One of the most important things about losing weight is having the right support system.  You'll find that here.  So....welcome, welcome and we're happy you joined our journey!

Chris - Great job on the 1.5 lbs. lost!  Don't worry, I found it so, it wasn't really lost!  :)  Hahahaha!  You gotta do what works for you just keep it up!

Blue - Thanks for the tip.  I had no idea I could do that.  That's pretty cool.  Thanks!  Yeah, 33,000 calories.  It is possible, I saw on tv how much they ate.  The worst part was when they put all the food on the table to show how much they ate in one day, it as all beige colored.  No colorful veggies or fruits.  It was all high fat, high cholesterol, high carb stuff.  Motivational TV.  They're purpose was to inform and scare and it worked for me!

Okay -  I need some help, I need to come up with a plan or trick for weekends.  I don't know about you guys but, so far since I've started, weekends have been like a days off from my healthier lifestyle.  I sleep in, eat foods with lots of sodium, nutritionally bad foods and then, I go for hours without eating.  I do try to stay within my caloric allowance but, all these other factors work against even if my calorie intake is where it should.  So, do you guys have any tips??  What are your tricks to get through the weekends??
Hi everyone! Boy sounds like some of us had a bad week, but believe me they do happen...at least to me...lol.

hye- poutine has to be my all time weakness other than chips but every once in awhile I splurge and have one because I know if I don't i'll be miserable until I can get one.  When I do have one I try to get a small and share it with my hubby.  He eats really fast so before I know it most of it is gone while I'm talking to the person next to me...hehee but at least i didnt' eat the whole thing myself..lol.  And I no longer have the craving after so that's good.  Most of your gain is water...drink lots today and tomorrow and you'll see the weight gain will disappear.  Don't give up on your goal to be under 200 by the end of April...it can still happen. Oh and on weekends....you got me, I have trouble too :)

jackattack- Welcome...we'll be here for you no matter what the results.  We'll celebrate the joys and cry with you for the heartbreaks sweetie :)

ellbell-  that cartoon had me in stitches....soooo funny. I want to print it out and put it near my scale...heehehee

truthpoet- welcome, this online support group is the best I've ever had.  There is always someone that answers my post within 10 minutes if not sooner.  So I know I'm not alone.

chris- almost 8 inches? Where did you lose inches the most...what area?  Wow, I never measured myself when I began but I've been thining of doing it now because then I have something else to go by instead of the scale....that since ellbell's cartoon post now has a gun pointed at it....heeehee

itsmy- don't feel too down about the gain dear.  I know, it's easy to say that right?  big huggles to you and you'll have a better week this week  We're all cheering for you! :)

I decided to up my proteins for a few weeks.  someone said since I am working hard i should up my proteins those days.  Going to try that and cut down on the bread and potatoes....maybe only have them twice a week or something.  What do you think?  Any ideas?
hi rockin ..... i measure 7 different areas chest, bust,  arms, waist, hips, thighs and calves. I lost the most from my waist 2 inches but everywhere else ranged from 1/4 inch to 1 1/2 inch lol i like to measure cause it seems more positive than the scale can be, i mean 7 3/4 inches sounds more motivating to me than 1.5 pounds!!  Anyway give it a try this is only my first week i just ope this time i can stick with it!!

hugzzz to all!!
chris- 2 inches from your waist....wow...that is a real motivator.  Ok you've convinced me...now where did I put that measuring tape......
hey everyone, new and old!  I did much better today.  A-on my nutrition grade, 1618 in calories, an hour of zumba.  This forum and the calorie counting charting is doing me a world of good.  i have something and someone to be accountable for.  i've been keeping a stock of sugar free popsicles in the freezer.  i like those better than ice cream and they're only 15 calories.  Can't beat that.  While the kids and hubby eat ice cream, i get a popsicle.  now all i need to to keep the motivation to exercise on my own when there is no zumba class.  i'm hoping for nice weather tomorrow so i can walk at work with one of my friends.  if she isn't available, i'm likely to talk myself right out of it....  Give me your strength.  i'm gonna need it.

Talk to y'all tomorrow.
carol-sorry for your loss.  we are here for you whenever you need a shoulder....virtual or not!

welcome jack!!

truth--boy, it is hard keeping that motivation level up, which is why I stay in here so much!!  everyone has been soooo supportive and pushing and pulling me through the rough days (like today...thanks for all the encouragement!!)

hye-glad you went on that walk!!!  fly on over anytime!!!! supercalifragilit.....oh well...i don't know how to spell Mary Poppins song!!!! but now it's stuck in my head!!!

congrats chris!!!  wtg!!!!

blue--you had me laughing outloud!!! i see the craps table now..."come on lucky number 7!!!" (first...237...now 227) :)

can you believe we are on page 40 of this post!!!
Hi, guys!

I did 30 minutes on the elliptical without stopping! I even wanted to do more :).

Even though my weight loss is stabilizing, I feel more active and healthy than ever!

Congrats on everyone's achievements! I'm proud of all of you =]
Happy Monday, going on Tuesday everyone!

Oh how I am missing you all so much!  I have just been SUPER busy with work and it looks like it is not slowing down.  I've been trying to keep up with the forum, but it looks like everyone's been chatty the last few days!

Welcome all the newbies here - You will find plenty of motivation, support, listeners and chatters all around you! So Welcome Welcome!

RA RA RA to everyone on their weighins (gains, losses & stablers)!  Everyone works so hard and there are times when we gain, lose and just stay the same.  Just keep at it everyone!  I'm here to cheer you on!!!

Ell - the cartoon was great... I feel that way every Sunday when I go to weigh in.  I do a pre-lim w/i on Wednesday's to see how I'm doing but that doesn't mean that I'm gonna show a loss on Sunday...  My scale and I have plenty of conversations! I ask how much do I weigh today and it tells me... At that point my scale is not an inatimate object =)

Wyo - I have Shitzu / Russel mixes, they are great.  One looks closer to the Russell and the other closer to the Shi... they're my "kids".... We also have a 5 mo beagle - she is great! SUPER fast learner!

Blue - I've seen a similar show, if not the same - where they layout all of the food that they eat in a day... I have to say that that really brings me back to reality!

Carol - I'm sorry to hear about your friend!  We are here for you if you need to talk about anything!  Try to keep in good spirits! I'm somewhat the opposite when it comes to emotions and eating, if I get upset I just don't want food... but then when I start to get back to normal... Look out food because here I come!!!

BLJ - I liked the PDF document! Thanks for sharing

(Is this long enough of a post yet? -- You all just chattin' away, makes it hard to keep up -- This is GREAT! =)  )

Okay, I'm sure I missed someone or something - but to keep this short I'm done for now!

Hugs to all {{{{{{}}}}}}

Keep up the GREAT work everyone ***\\\___ RA RA RA ___///***
All right, I just quickly scanned some of the pages and I can't remember for the life of me who said they did this...I want to say Ginny, but I'm not sure.  Anyway she mentioned she inclined and declined on the treadmill regularly.  I tried it just now and my legs feel good!  I walked flat for 10 minutes, inclined for 5 and repeated.  I'll try to keep doing that and see how it works out for me.

Hope everyone had a great Monday!  Pst, we had some men in the office working on the ac system.  Yup, lots of able bodied young men with their heads in the ceiling.  Let's see what Tuesday holds for us.  :)  Hey...I'm married, not blind...isn't that the excuse the guys use???  Lol
vklamorick,

Haha yes! My name is Jackie and I had a friend that started calling me Jack-Attack after the movie came out :)

hyechong,

Thanks :)

rockinmama
,

Thanks so much!

So today was my first day and I did pretty good! I can't believe I only used up half of my "eat meter" all day. I guess I was just really making sure I ate little. I did have a pepsi and icecream bar, but it still didn't take me over the halfway point, so that's good. I can't wait to weigh myself in a week :D

Good for you Jackie, you're off to a great start!

I know, there are times when I can't get to my calories for the day.  Today, I barely broke 1200...and I'm so stuffed right now.  I don't want to go to bed yet because I'm still too full from dinner. Lol  So, I'm surfing.  I've been sitting here reading around debating on having a glass of milk so late.  I probably will though because I burned calories on the treadmill so that brought my number even lower.  Of course...there are definitely days when I struggle to keep it in check too!  Lol

What day are you going to weigh in???
So I have been looking at my calories for the past few weeks and noticed that I seem to roller coster... Day 1, I'm close to 1200-1300 calories; Day 2 Im around 1500-1600, Day 3 back down to 1200-1300, Day 4 1500-1600 and so on... does anyone seem to do this also?

It doesn't seem to matter if I work out that day or not everyother day I'm low and then high again...

Strange...
